I can use it to put out some nice damage on WHM too. Hexa Strike chains into light and the resulting MB plus Holy can result in 2-2.5k+ bonus damage on top of Hexa Strike which can hit for around 1.1-1.5k

I try to skillchain off other's WS all the time... speeds up those {Full Attack)s sometimes. And they're just a fun/pretty aspect of the game. As DNC I sometimes toss out Wild Flourish sometimes just to see if I get a show from another's WS, lol.

And, as mentioned, it's invaluable for solo'n when you can do a skillchain yourself of course.

Peeve... getting told that I need to do something when that's clearly not the best way to fulfil the duties of my job. This from someone who has the job level'd but doesn't know much about it.

Was killing Chloris last night for a person going for an Emp. Weapon. I was THF and they were WHM. The NIN tank and I are the only ones on the mob and the NIN is in full evasion gear. Doom is killing us off left and right (fyi, if other groups are fighting Chloris terror and doom can affect you). Leader is flipping me crap saying I need to "turn (my) TH on" cuz the Augur hands aren't dropping ... then towards the end of the pops the WHM says in party that he's seen me sitting at 300tp alot. And that I need to be WS'n so the fights don't take as long. Of course I'm sitting at 300tp. The NIN can barely hold hate from me when I'm not WS'n. After that, dude tells me I need to push the hate onto the NIN. Tells me that TA should do the trick. Listen little mister 'I duo-box everything w/ my wife's WHM" ... I have been TA'n the crap outta that NIN and I need to be able to SA and TA w/o WS to get TH to proc more often. I've never seen a TH proc come out of a WS and believe me I've tried... TH > DMG in this case. I know my job... and that's to keep you getting 2 of those f'n Chloris buds every kill. It's not to make the fight go any quicker. Just keep cursna'n me so you can get your MNK epeen, ty for playing.

Stories like this are why I never do anything with a pickup group anymore. Occasionally I forget this and respond to a shout for something I need and get thoroughly punished for it. My last experience was being asked by a whm to change to rdm/whm from rdm/blm for extra cursna for Xibalba. This left our group with no stun so we got picked off one by one by Death with nothing to say about it. Our war decides HE'S going to warp and change to rdm/blm and come back while we're kiting the thing around, but it goes idle in the middle of murdering us all so we lose our red proc and NOW we don't have a war. Nonetheless we try to retake control of the fight, but our nin ends up eating Death while stun is on recast because this other rdm overestimates his fast cast and tries to stun every inconsequential move the NM does. I decide I'm going to come back on /blm to make darn sure Death gets stunned and when I get back they've called in one of their friends to brew what should have been a pushover minor NM. None of these people were assholes about it and I did at least get my last abyssite of merit but oh my god I was just facepalming over and over again. ><

Probably close to two hours. You guys all think I'm crazy for complaining about people with party macros, but that's the sort of shit I have to put up with for hours on end when I don't act like an asshole and call people out for being stupid.

So in my rush to farm up a coffer key for a quest last night I ended up leaving my mog house with only my elemental staves and pimp hat. Everything I was going to be killing was Easy Prey so I figured I didn't really need to spend the extra few minutes shuffling all my inventory.

Definitely not doing that again. Performance took a huge nose dive along with my mp efficiency. I knew I wouldn't be as powerful without my gear but I didn't realize just how much worse off I was going to be without it. It's convinced me that all those people who insist that gear doesn't matter as long as you're skilled are absolutely silly.

Gear is very important. I don't think I'll be leaving home without it ever again.

Honestly, this is why I've never really bought the "gear =/= skill" trope. Like the girl on the official forums who insists she's not a bad THF because she doesn't swap in Haste.

Have you ever had capped Haste, took off all your Haste gear, and then tried to attack with no Haste? It's pretty excruciating how slow you attack without your Haste gear.

Or how about nuking and realizing you forgot to press one of your macros to switch in key pieces of gear? And the resulting nuke does approximately 3/4 the amount you were expecting it to? That is, if it didn't get resisted.

I mean, macro pieces be damned. But me and a couple of folks did the Dragon Scales KCNM50 yesterday and I was using my Savant's pants to proc Conserve MP on Parsimony. And the thing I took away from it most was how much MP I was able to save on nukes from having them. You don't think about it much in Abyssea where MP flows like ale at Yuletide. But I was glad to have my macro piece outside of Abyssea.

I notice every time I change from TP to Evasion sets... omg... the pain. Tbh, the thought crosses my mind to just keep the TP set on and make the mages work harder curing me so I don't have to endure the pain. I'd rather die than see myself that slow, lol/cry.

I kick myself when I don't switch from TP to WS ... it's completely noticable. On THF I have a TP macro that includes my Twilight Knife and my TH macro switches the TK for my Thief knife thus wiping my TP% away in the switch. Last night in Limbus, we were trying to get as many ABC's as we could for a dude that just got Limbus access and needed his Brutal so I remained in my TH/TP setup .. until the guy w/ the parse told me I was neck and neck w/ the WAR. So I started switching out to my WS set and then back to my TH/TP set for every WS ... the difference was 200-350 dmg per WS. The difference w/ TA or SA modifying the WS was around 500-1000. Had I been switching the whole time I would have easily out-parsed the WAR since I came in 1000dmg (129k vs 128k) under him.

ImHo, gear definitely makes a difference. Course if you don't know how to play a job or make the macro's for it... your gear won't help you very much. My BLU is atrocious. I haven't really got any idea how to gear or what to macro in when and why. Also I don't really have any idea what spells are the most useful. I haven't really had the time to sift through wiki to find out much either. I will admit that I am a BLU/lol currently yet I know I have some mighty fine gear for it.

You know what? I miss Campaign being popular. There, I said it!

I miss looking forward, every update, to seeing what changes they plan to make to it. I miss being able to show up on whatever job I want and nobody could tell me "No!" I miss being able to play however I want and nobody could tell me "No!" I miss getting more than HQ Scorpion Shells in the Union pool. I miss being able to play with lots of people, but on my own terms, when I want, where I want. I miss being surrounded by PLDs and NINs and thinking, "Har har, look, the BST is tanking!" I miss being in Wings of the Goddess all day long and actually feeling like it was a day well spent.

I miss Fiat Lux and the epic line I had to wait in to get to it.



I went to a couple today and yesterday and, to my pleasant surprise, there were a few people there! Granted, they were all PLDs, RDMs, and BLUs. But hey, it was something! And I had a lot of fun. I remember knowing I would never get more than 10K EXP per hour in Campaign, but willfully choosing it over Colibri parties, and I was fine with that.

But I want them to make it popular again, like it was for nearly 2 years. Just about the only thing tethering me to Abyssea these days is the fear that I will get left behind other people, but I don't want to do it anymore because I do nothing but it when I log on.
