I tried to post a little bit in the Official Forums. But I just couldn't anymore. It's as if there is no purpose to it other than to whine. Or to whine about the whining.

I'm reading a post Red is obsolete and am at a loss on how to reply to it without being "in violation of forum guidelines."

That guy's post got torn apart by the rest of the users so I wouldn't worry too much. Some people just don't understand the concept of a generalist class (Hint: You're never confined to one role and that is a massive advantage over other classes). I do love the bit where he tries to say that WHITE MAGES are better nukers. Banish III and Holy both have stupidly long cooldowns, silly high MP costs and only ever break the 1.5k Mark during Magic Bursts

I'd hardly call RDMs obsolete either. I see plenty when meriting in Abyssea, usually Nuking or Healing (If you have more than one mage capable of healing then a lack of Cure V is completely redundant, if I'm a lone WHM, I very rarely even need to cast Cure V if there's a competent RDM or SCH in the alliance), and I've yet to see a class that can solo NMs as well as a RDM can.

Almost didn't take me because I'm BLU, and yellow proc is rarely Blue Magic, but he did, and it turns out the proc WAS blue magic.

This is really annoying. Setting all of the proc spells takes a lot of points! And it's almost never actually Blue Magic.

Last night I had a party whine at me for using Divine Magic and taking out my club for skill ups when we had a silly number of mages that could heal in the party (and the Alliance leader even said it was fine since we had a stupid number of healers). Guess what spells were needed to proc yellow?

Even better! Guess what weapon type was needed to proc red! And guess what weapon the Warriors, Paladins and Dark Knights all forgot to bring along...

Getting to say "Told you so" TWICE to an entire alliance is always satisfying. Shame the Atma wasn't one I really needed though I did get to help out a friend.

The funny thing is is that RDM can heal just fine as long as they have competent backup. Most parties just take two WHMs (and a make with /WHM in the thrird party if fighting spellcasters or dolls) because it required the least amount of effort to set up. I've seen 2 RDMs and a SCH keep a party up just fine, since it's not often you NEED Cure V unless multiple people outside your party just got hit (so Curaga IV doesn't cut it) or someone it taking a lot of pressure so Cure III or IV simply won't be enough. The only times I find myself casting Cure VI are more or less "OHSHIT" moments when any other healer is out of range since even then, the other WHM (or RDM, or SCH, or BLM, or even BLU) may well be dropping a cure on that guy too, making my Cure VI a waste of MP if it hits last and doesn't get to heal for more than my Cure V.

RDM is fine for exp parties, but a Cure III/IV rotation doesn't always cut it for NM fights. During our Sedna fight there was a point at which I think I was the only one curing Yyg as he tanked it and my cures were not keeping up with the NM's damage output. I had zero time to cast anything other than cures. I'm not terribly thrilled with that, but maybe it'll become less of an issue once I finish a cure staff and the game shifts away from Abyssea and it's silly high numbers.

Was that the first or second attempt? Because in the first one I arrived late and most of the alliance was dead anyway, and the second one I was definitely healing the tanks.
