What I can't figure out is why SE implemented this in the first place. What good can come out of somebody screwing somebody else's craft by curing them? SE is evil. Evil!

Exactly. I know that if I were high enough level to craft something that takes extremely expensive items, (let's say 200k each or something crazy like that, which is a lot of gil to me right now) I'd be PISSED OFF if someone screwed me by curing me or casting Protect on me.

And you know it happens, too, especially in town. People cure/protect/etc. other people for skillups ALL THE TIME. And I bet you can't call a GM on that one, either. >.<

Really a very stupid implementation for a game.

/blockaid on blocks outside party members from curing you buffing you an so on. Mainly used in the HNM war. Kinda lame i have to resort to using it in town as well. Other problem with this. It doesnt stop your party members from doing it to you an breaking your synth.

Another bandaid fix from S.E. Instead of just adressing the problem an fixing it. It's sad 5 years an they still havent learn that not always can you kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Amen. I was running around grabbing gear for PLD21 last night (I need a break from maging) and didn't have a headpiece or food while waiting for junk to sell, so I put a "{head} X, {food} X = {Party} {No thanks}" message up. Two minutes, I get a party invite, I politely say no, they ask why, so I point them to the /seacom. Their reply?

"So?"

(For those not keeping score at home, Hume PLD at 21 in basic Beetle gear is looking at about 120 def, 9 of which comes from the head - that's 10% missing.)

So, my recent peeves? One, not checking someone's /seacom (corollary: not updating your /seacom if you're /inv).

Two, not having basic gear for your class/level. I don't need everything you wear to be white-boxed, but I counted too many mages through GC and CN wearing about 5-6 pieces of eq. Excellent equipment? Not always cheap, especially for new players. But not having a pair of rings and earrings? Or NIN tanks at 30+ wearing Dunes gear? Grrr.

You guys are acting like SE intentionally designed it so that this would happen. It was discovered a long time ago (circa 2004) that curing or buffing would screw up synths and it was fixed almost as far back. Its near impossible with the current system to cast directly on someone while they are casting. The issue that seems to have affected her is due to AOE buffing such as Protectra and songs. I think the timing has to be exquisite for it even to break in those situations. The reason buffs like that can screw up synthing is because they can affect the crafter even though the crafter is not the target of the spell. In the end it comes down to unfortunate timing.

Freaking idiots who think race has a big difference. Because I'm a good THF, and very into the job, I carry around and macro in sets of gear for SATA, DD, and pulling at 31, and some 75 Mithra THF in my party laughed at me for doing so, and said that I was doing it too early. And then on top of that, he conceded and said that "I guess you have to, I mean you are Elvaan, and I'm Mithra so you have to make up for your crappy stats." A lot less gramatically correct, but that's the gist of it. Just really pissed me off, cause I knew that I was better than him, in that I cared for the job a lot more, and he assumed he was better cause of +3~ more in base DEX/AGI.

^^ LOL. Never heard someone so convinced that RDM was healer-extrodinaire. Most people's opinion of RDM main heal is that we're "teh suXorZ."

Cure IV sucks. Plain and simple, and if I am to die, I would much prefer Raise 3 than Raise 1. That's just me though. Meh, whatever though, just a troll. Probably someone you don't want to party with again.

Wow. That guy was a dimwit. But he represents an alarming trend in today's mindset, that RDM(mostly paired with BRD), is an overall better main healer, while WHM is replaceable. Granted, that WAR was thinking in simple terms(big surprise), but his opinion doesn't surprise me.

I always ask that whenever anyone says a party doesn't need a WHM, and when I tell them a BRD + RDM + WHM party makes a steady 18k-20kish/hr (instead of the 10k-14k you make without one) they usually say something dumb to get out of the convo and just shut up.

>_>; 6k total for 2 hours inclueding down time for the smn and me getting killed by adds and water ele aggro that we couldn't avoid. Though only gotten 3k after all the deaths added together >_>;; Waste of time mire is. And yesterday a different party(which i got w/o lfp o.O), greater colibri's gave us a nice steady 12.5k an hour.

Lyonheart's pet peeve #298: job combinations don't automatically make a specific exp/hour rate. It's like those people who say "Don't get PLD, get NIN tank instead. xxx amount of exp/hour gauranteed."

I agree, it's a bad thing to do and say...

But then again that's what I always get with those setups (although all of them are JP so you mileage may vary).

I'm sure there are other party setups/camps that can get similar results, but in this case it was more about actually getting better results with a WHM than without one.
