I have never dropped a pearl unless it was broken. I still have my original LS on Bahamut, even though nobody uses it anymore and the shellholder doesn't/can't play anymore (and no sackholders if I remember). I've dropped a sack or two, after making a pearl to keep. They normally end up in my locker so I can revisit the memories whenever I go through a spring cleaning phase.

I'm considering stealing a flying manta from this pup who is killing them all in the Labyrinth of Onzozo by killing one while his automaton kills another. Weather pops in the area and all the damn mantas are dead.

I do this all the time... just not on Mantas, but on other mobs I'm farming (Lizards in Cape Terrigan currently for OAT H2H).

Look at it this way: I'm (or they) are getting mobs 2x faster, which means they'll be done 2x quicker, which means you can have the entire zone all to yourself that much quicker.

Or, alternatively, just see if you can team up with them and you both get credit. I know I'm more than willing to share credit like that, and if you need a killing blow I'll be sure to leave it at 5% for you. If we both need killing blow, you're SOL and it's competition on.

I don't know what the hell he was doing, but it wasn't a trial, he didn't have a trial weapon equipped, and he wasn't soloing for exp. The mantas don't drop anything valuable. I suppose he could have been trying to pop Peg Powler. He just cleared the area to the point that when wind came up, it was often gone by the time the mantas respawned.

I was able to get maybe two kills that counted toward completing the trial while he was there.

Thankfully he finally moved on, after 3-4 hours, and I could get my trial done.

Campaign.

Maybe it's because I'm a relatively low level for it, but I'm just not finding it rewarding at all. Constantly chasing campaign battles only to have them end. Finding campaign battles, but having no one else in the zone so I get mauled. Finishing campaign battles only to get triple digits of exp and no shiny union spoils.

It was fun when doing it with my Linkshell, but on my own it's just a drag.

Don’t think I ever enjoyed campaign. Surprised I got as far as I did to be honest.

Actually…wait…I take that back. Campaign was pretty funny when that BLM/witch would show up and practically make everyone her bitch.

Peeve: Trying to get WotG quests done.

Some I can/will be able to solo, but most others are looking like impossible to do so due to stupid NPCs on the battlefield.

And shouting has proven to be an exercise in futility.

So now I have no idea if I'll even be able to see the end of the storyline before quitting out of frustration.

Tried networking? "Hey, I'm trying to get further on Altana missions. Do you know anyone who would be interested?" How about using FFXIAH to search for people at or near where you are in the mission progression?

The reason you're getting such low XP is because you're chasing after battles in progress. There's a per-minute cap on XP and if you get less than the cap for your level range (2x AN at 61-75, 2.4x at 76-89), that's why you didn't get more.

Sit in town and watch the announcements. Watch for beastmen forces being sent to "defensive" battles (nation in control of zone). Remember which ones are the engineer forces (Pilgrims, Clan Bear, and the turtles one I can't remember) and ignore them. The more beastmen-controlled zones there are, the fewer nation-controlled zones there are for people to show up to. If you see both beastmen and allied forces being sent to an offensive (beastmen controlled zone) battle, there's probably a non-wallbashing battle, and you can try going there to have fun with Leechkeepers. Get your tags the moment the music starts and wait. That waiting time is not lost, it raises your cap. Recovering from a reraise works too.

Of course in these days of low-man campaign battles, you really want to sub /WHM with an MP build of gear that gives you 150MP or more weakened so that you can reraise. Or if you an afford a bunch of RR earrings, that works too. But for me the fun of campaign battles is going all out and trying to stay alive as long as you can... which, if you're taking hate, is a great way to get XP. I had a 4K+ offensive battle on PUP76 the other day from doing all these things, with only two other players in the battle.

EDIT: WotG quests. I'm still on that one that's the mini-games in BCD_S. I really need to get that one done now. And ObPeeve, Nyzul was being a little bitch again last night to my static. Flayers, Puddings, and Lamps at the far end of a loooong level (is loooong) with aggro shit including NMs camping the lamps. And a leader floor with Vile Yabeesa or whatever the name of that total asshole is.

No LS, and the ones I have a pearl for are not interested in repeating or doing the missions with the new guy.

Plus my entire friends list (save for one person) has quit the game.


What is networking though? Am I supposed to announce myself in craigslist or something?
