People in Bastion.

Been doing Bastion on Blu every now and then for fun. As I'm sure many of you know, Bastion fights tend to be over fairly quickly as the mobs rip through the defending NPCs VERY fast and make off with the Martello Core. Some fights are over before two minutes have passed. And since you do not gain any exp unless you damage a mob that is killed, it makes sense to kill things as fast as possible, right?

So what do I see other players doing in Bastion? I see them trying to solo mobs exactly as they do in Campaign, which does NOT work. Secondly, I have been bitched at for killing things on my Blu. Keep in mind, I'm killing as fast as possible, so it's Quad. Continuum > Disseverment > Hysteric Barrage > Gobbie Rush > Vanity Dive > Benthic Typhoon > whatever spell's recast timer is finished. This obviously, is a ton of damage and will typically kill the little orby things and pots in one round of spells. Dolls might take more. I also target mobs that I can kill quickly, so chariots and other big nasty things are saved for later. I normally kill a mob in under 8 seconds, so not too shabby.

But I'm being bitched at for killing mobs, which I frankly find amusing. Yeah, your Nin is going to kill a mob before the battle is over. Typically in about 80% of the fights I've been in, I am the only one who can score a kill during the fight. Face it dudes, I'm getting your exp for you, and you're bitching at me?

Gotta love some people who don't think things through.

Its a very fast campaign. I've never seen the great exp you're supposedly able to get from Bastion.

I'd be willing to bet most of those people don't understand how the xp rewards actually work. Hell, you still have people who think that BST pets lower the collective xp of the party, which hasn't been true for what, five years now? Stupid players are stupid. XD

It actually is kinda fun so long as the fight doesn't end quickly.

I normally get 800+ exp from the little orb things, and 1k+ exp for pots and 1800ish for dolls. If I remember right I think I got 2k-3k exp from the chariots and acroliths, but I seldom get to fight those due to lack of people. Since I tend to get killshots there may be some kind of killshot exp modifier in there that I don't know about.

As for why people do it, some of the new AF3 is obtainable by resistance credits, which are obtained in minuscule amounts by doing Bastion OPs, or by doing Bastion.

I'd be willing to bet most of those people don't understand how the xp rewards actually work.

Most likely, I just find their particular brand of ignorance rather annoying.

I should be happy. But now I'm never asked to come SCH, unless it's some low man manaburning. You can't win I tell you.

Yelling in LS chat that "I blame X!" (where X is the only person left alive after several deaths or someone who can't be blamed in a full wipe) became a meme of sorts in my LS before I stopped playing

That's 5.2k experience points which I have absolutely no use for... That's annoying, for some reason, even though I only do CB to keep medal.

I read on the site forums. I haven't been able to log on in ages due to RL... this saddens me greatly because it was a LS that was like family.

Majick and Scheen (founders) helped people a great deal in FFxi and also with RL issues. They were two diamonds in a rough patch. I am proud to have met them and known them thru FFxi.

NoIdea had many types of players ... some very knowledgable and well geared yet some who were not... but we got a lot of things done and many MANY people on Hades (and then Cerberus) got their start and many good times thru our social LS.

So... R.I.P. NoIdea (officially)

You will never be forgotten.

... sad but idk if I will have it in me to drop the pearl.
