As much as I hate most of the trials…the last one for the axe (700 plants) was pretty fun.

Nothing like grouping up with 3-7 other people in the tree, pulling 50 mandies/Fungars and just goin to town on them.

I think it's telling that I've made a commitment to getting the 2-3x OAT weapons for RDM and BST when I'm online now.

Also, a slight peeve on doing an Abyssea alliance on Pachypodiums. They seem okay until your exp caps out at 300-330 a kill because they don't give ruby lights. WS kills on them are apparentl completely pointless, you might as well just go for more chests (pearlescent?) and hope for an ebon in there somewhere.

People from the original alliance (including me) started to get tired and drop out of the alliance at about 8 hours.

That's weird; my last group on it hit high 500's in 3 hours on those. Did your group not open red boxes? Should always open those.

And, always recap pearl and azure when you get new/returned people, too, while making sure they don't get kill shots for a while.

It's completely random though, I've had a party where we got stuck around 300xp for awhile because red chests just didn't pop that had Ruby or Ebon light in them to increase their pop rate. Main reason why I prefer frogs to mandies, but god any retard at frogs will just mess up your light building cause people don't understand when to not WS.

Linkshell drama in a social shell.

Our severely drunk and possibly ill party leader decided to take off after some downtime without checking that the entire party and PL were in tow. After two deaths he decides to /ragequit on us and his wife hops on to chide us for not following him.

Shit like this is the reason I refuse to pull for a party after downtime until I get a response from everyone that they're ready. This is not rocket science, if you don't have the whole party following you don't go tackling stuff that requires a whole party to take down.

I love the folks in my shell but there are days when I think the leadership is just fucked.

Stupid NPC generals frolicking around with their boyfriends/girlfriends while me and the only responsible soldier in their whole unit are hitting this stupid wall for half an hour to win the Campaign Fight.

You know, that's actually a good point - if S-E nerfed exp gain on wall-beating so much, you think they could have compensated for it by making wall destruction a higher priority for allied NPCs.

I'm on the Magian Trial for GK that needs me to WS 800 times on Bees that yield xp. There are a few places Bees /check as EPs when you're 85 anymore..

You do know that the EP level is fixed at 56 for level 75 and up, right?

Anything you can get some xp off of at 75, you will be able to at 99. So you'll only get 4xp off of a level 56 mob at 99, but it still counts.

(Likewise, the aggro level is fixed at 61 or 62 or so.)

And there are bees in temple Uggly's north branch, where you get the pop item for Carby Mitts and fight that Tonberry NM for a Windurst mission.

Oh hell, this. Also, when you get a BLM who loves to drop tier-V nukes, and you're trying to build pearlescent.

Killed Serpopard Ishtar for 1/3 Magian. I've taken the first step to hating Magian trials just as much as anybody else.

Right now, the total tally, not counting NMs, looks like thus in my future:

400 bird family
300 clusters
1000 vermin
600 demons
400 Rafflesia
600 arcana
400 lizard family
300 puks
600 birds
400 gnoles
600 undead
450 imps
700 plantoids

It isn't as bad as it sounds. But you really need to play in Trial-mode if you want to get them done fast.

Or maybe I'm just a masochist. And since I don't do endgame stuff I actually have fun cooperating with other players to get trials done.


After all I'm the proud owner of 4 trial swords I intend to keep up to date until trials end for good. This is just for RDM (2 str and 2 dex Shamshirs). Just don't ask me to recount how many mobs I've killed on weather/day so far, it could be bad for my already fragile mental health.

Wow... Glad I quit when I did. Magian seems like nothing but a pain in the ass... Why is there such a rediculus amount of monsters to kill in the first place. Also, why limit it to only certain days. I think its just BS.

Yea, why not work together? Well on the mobs you have to WS to kill I can understand but the rest? Why not? I would much rather NOT do such a thing as I could be out leveling, and getting back to max level, and hurry back to end game again.

I understand that SE wants us to work together but they have to take into consideration that forcing people to do so doesn't always work out in the end. I love working with anyone but a lot of other people don't and, if they do, it's usually only with people they know.

That's the beauty of non-NM trials to me, you can actually advance even if you are alone. Only a few trials are bad enough that could actually be considered to be forced partying onry. Flans and Womura in Mount Z. come to mind. But in my experience people really likes to (Team up?) for those.

Take the Shamshir +1 trials for example. If a lolRDMDD with crappy gear (that would be me) can solo 35-40/300 bird kills in Cape Teriggan on a single Firesday then any decent DD can fly through it by not killing Chickens but Pink birds instead.

And the reward (Shamshir +1: DMG 52 Delay 230 STR +8 Att +18) is more than worth the 8 or so Firesdays I'm going to dedicate to it.

Problem is when you are a greedy (Bastard Sword) and want to get 4 trial weapons to min/max... But they are too good for my playstyle to stop doing trials now. XD
