None of my examples were in town. They were all in battle. Let me rephrase my post without all the anger then.

    1. Wow, I didn't know it was possible for Dancing Edge to miss, aside from mobs that use Perfect Dodge. But I guess I do now.

    2. I saw a RDM nuking in Abyssea. He was wearing all this RDM-looking stuff and even then his nukes were no good. I guess RDM can't nuke either. Refresh/Haste ONRY!

    3. "You see, this is why I never invite BSTs to my party. They always sub WHM. They don't know how to gear themselves. And some of them don't even call pets." Sound familiar? Why, it sounds to me like every stupid justification that people give me for not inviting BSTs to play in their reindeer games. And here was an example of one, in the flesh!

Dia II/II would be nice, and maybe Gravity if nukers are tossing out IV/V/AM2's early.

I'm not a big fan of RDM nuking without /SCH when not soloing, but I did Chainspell Thunder III the mega at the last Dynamis-Bastok because I was annoyed at how long it was taking to kill it. lol.

I think for every five BSTs I've had in exp party, about two would be setup correctly, two would be so-so, and one would be completely idiotic. The ratio really isn't all that different from other DDs, but a 'meh' geared, conventional DD usually do more good than a 'meh' BST.

Ideally, though, you just want to avoid 'meh' people all together whenever possible. I still love BSTs who use CC; Rampage, and Snarl--saves the healers some worries. Of course, if stuff are dying too fast for Snarl to matter much, by all means use a better DD jug.

. . . did you seriously just respond to an aside "RDM Refresh/Haste ONRY!" remark with "Well, they have Dia and sometimes Gravity, too!"

        Seriously?

        Peeve = the above.

          Yeah, seriously.

Was in Abyssea exp alliance, where each critter basically go from being pulled to dead in under 40 seconds. When the BRD was pulling, Lullaby was the only must-have enfeeb. When the BRD changed job to RDM, sleep was used instead.

Other than that, Dia II/III and Gravity would've been the most useful enfeebs--both of which were quite lacking, even though we had at least two non-puller RDMs.

The RDM has a huge toolbox--it's quite obvious that not every doohickey is needed for every situation. Complaining about most enfeebs being useless in a situation where a RDM can do plenty of good with time and MP by helping out using Cure/Refresh/Haste/Dia is just silly.

          * * *

          Pet peeve:

Foolish RDMs who refuse to recognize that doing their best means doing what's best for their party/alliance in whichever situation the party/alliance is in.

OH NO YOU CAN'T LAND SLOW ON SARAMEYA/BLACK SHUCK? SE IS STUPID! SE HATES RDM! AND FFXI IS BROKEN! As if I care--figure out what else you can do, and do it.

So your Joyeuse orTemple Knight Army Sword +2 doesn't make you an awesome DD on Kirin or IT exp targets even with En- I/II? So what? Cry me a river.

Think it's terrible that critters which die in under 30 seconds don't need five different enfeebs each from your RDM? Does that even need a response other than "Did you Dia II/III that?" Five or more melee DDs pounding on the mob, and you're outraged that the best, most useful enfeeb would be Dia II/III? lol. Seriously?

Let me add a quick disclaimer that my gripe was not that:

            "RDM should do this."

            It was more like:

"This RDM was trying to do this and he failed at it cause he didn't actually wear appropriate gear to do it."

In this case, this was nuking.

Nyzul, doing a floors run, and I'm already off balance because I forgot to change my subjob going in. (RDM is one of the things that /NIN doesn't really work for in Nyzul.)

First floor, all enemies, first fight, pick-up DRK goes KO. I cast raise (which means he didn't have any RR). At this point, a Nyzul vet would head for the rune in the next room over and wait there. But that's not good enough for this DoRK.

A few minutes later, he KOs again. I say why TF u next to the mob? (when you should be next to the rune, dumbass) Cast raise.

A few minutes later, he KOs again. I say "dammit (name)". He immediately HPs and drops.

We tried to continue low man, but got a family floor full of crap after that. Oh boy, 2 floors on my runic disc. Even with that, nobody else KOed during the entire run.

              Goddamn e-peen DRKs.

I'm slowly beginning to realize that while I like the people in my linkshell, they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Most of them have been playing for many years, but I think I'm one of maybe three people who understands how to properly gear a job and make use of macros.

When the shell leader, a Red Mage, mentioned that they had never learned to use equipment macros a little part of me died inside. I really hope that was a joke. It has to be a joke, right? I mean no Red Mage could get to level 70 without learning to use equipment macros. Right?

Excuse me a minute I think I need to go slam my head against a wall for about an hour.

                      • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

I think it's personally reasonable that someone might have subpar and/or standard gear for a job that isn't their main, and they just want to bring to 80. God forbid someone doesn't spend 10 hours a day on FFXI and attend daily schedules so that their auto-attacks are 10% faster and deal 10% more damage!
So today, our LS did a run and invited some pickup people to fill in the holes and one of the party members was a PUP. A lot of our LS members like to make fun of the job. And let's face it, there aren't many of them around so most of us just haven't had an opportunity to actually see one in action.

So am I elitist for wanting people to have good gear? No, no, I'm not elitist at all! In fact, I was hoping this would be an opportunity for this PUP to prove his chops. I wanted one of our leaders to go, "Hey! I was parsing this and this guy did a really good job! PUP is cool!"

Then, when we started killing stuff, he called a puppet that did nothing but use tier 1 nukes. He full-timed full AF save for an O-Hat. No backpiece. His accuracy was some 45% and, by the end of the run, he ended up contributing about 1.2% of the damage...between him and the automaton.

So thanks man. Thanks for setting the reputation of the job back 4 years. LOLPUP!

Why are all the bad PUPs joining my parties and why are all the good PUPs standing around AFK in Windurst Waters [S]?

So yeah, return of the "JP only" junk.

Seriously, WTF is up with this garbage? If you want to say that you don't understand any english, that's one thing, but when I send a /tell to the person, and they replay with, "Sorry, (Japanese) only" that tells me otherwise.

Furthermore, you can use the autotranslator to get your point across. Something along the lines of (magic): X (Weapon skill): X and etc and I'm sure people would understand. That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure someone with more understanding of the autotranslator would be able to come up with something better.

And lastly, if you know enough english to say "Sorry, (Japanese) only" freaking learn how to say "Melee kills" or "Magic kills".

This racist BS is getting old.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Besieged idiocy... I'm not talking about DC'n this time. But this really got me pissed...

It's shouted there's less than 3min... the boss is down to less than 20%... and there's a pile of dedz (10+) laying underneath one of the lesser mobs that spams AoE. People keep attempting to raise and help the people that are about to get screwed outta XP but the AoE won't allow any of the people to actually survive at all once up. Some people are saying to move the mob away so others can assist the fallen. Then others say back things akin to "keep it there and let them die"

                            STFU you GD asshatz!!!!

Seriously "Ja Ja" is at 5% or less, there's 1min remaining, and your too selfish to realize you're gaining just a few xp for raising desperate people over and over again (possibly capped anyway) who just want to live long enough to run away so they get the XP/IP they've spent an hour trying to earn??? I've tried that before cuz someone else had suggested it long ago... it didn't work for me. I figured it was the 360 lag or something. I honestly dont' know if I'll get the chance to test your suggestion again cuz after last night (and a few other instances of DC'n as the CS happens recently), I'm done with Besieged. It's broken. SE has to know this. But they refuse to impliment something they obviously have the capabilities of doing (ie Campaign). Chocobo dude can rot in prison ... I'd rather run than waste an hr of my life to have it taken away by something pretty much out of my control.
