Which sucked, because going out to xp that low level stuff when I was bored was a great way to stop myself from just sitting in WG looking at shouts.

Every once in a while I'd be actually available to do stuff and a shout would come up for something I needed.

Most of the time, though, I'd have just warped into WG from Sandy after Einherjar and running to the port taru to head to Jeuno for Limbus when someone would be shouting for something I needed. Or leaving Faf camp to run my ass out to Khim. It was always between events, without fail. Which I guess was the problem with joining a busy HNM/event LS like Ex, although I loved it, it was very frustrating sometimes. Or get to a great xp party and just barely get started (but you can tell it's going to be good just by how it starts) and Tiamat would pop.

And it was always the times when absolutely nothing was going on - no events, no one wanted to farm zeni, no camps were open - even the long ones - no sea farming, nothing at all, and I wouldn't be able to find an xp party or a Nyzul run to save my life.

Happened way too many times to keep track of. So I got into the FOV dualboxing with my mule for those times when I only had a few hours or so and therefore I wouldn't be inconveniencing anyone by having to leave. And when I lost that, well, it pissed me off.

This is why I like being a member of a social linkshell that just happens to do end-game events. It's the freedom to do (or not do) some things and have no consequences from the leadership.

The fact that they can do many things significantly better than some 'end-game' shells (like, for example, Dynamis, Sky, Limbus, and Einherjar) is purely coincidental.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my linkshell, I just had very bad luck when it came to finding shout groups for things I needed to do.

Yep that's pretty much the same lament for most of us in busy high endgame ls's. Same crap would happen to me and it was annoying at times. Hunts/events are great fun but sometimes it's fun to get some other stuff FINALLY done......oops nope gotta go! lol

On a somewhat related note, I have two things to add to this list:

First, not being able to find suitable gear for my bard that's a reasonable price range which allows me to accomplish one goal: force my hp to yellow for my Minstrel's. Since I've gotten it and started focusing on the fast-cast aspect of bard, I've been able to accumulate a 50% casting reduction, so long as the minstrel's in active. I can for yellow if I use a second set to increase my HP (think a rubber band - one set reduces it, the other pushes it up further than normal), but that also clashes with my fast cast gear, thus impossible at this moment. The way I see it, the last 2 pieces I need are a Serket ring and Vivian Ring. Either that or 2 pieces of Zenith.

Which leads me to my second: Sky. I'm pretty sure I really don't need to say much more on this. Seeing as PUP is virtually useless there, my only usable job is bard. However, I dislike bard, and currently have only just come to terms with using it in Dynamis (which is the only reason why point #1 exists)

Another believes that PLD is nothing more than a WAR with cures, and coincidentally happens to be one of those WARs that use GS and S&S. But that isn't even the worst part: the worst part is that they seem to be my best hope for getting my Promys done any time soon.

While I do not consider using the wiki as "cheating", I will agree it takes the adventure out of it. I love playing any new MMO from the start and learning as I go, some of my best memories from FFXI are from those days. But I also understand that time is money and people like to accomplish things with the least amount of effort, so I read up on things when need be. I will say that I do not read up on things just for the sake of knowing though. Even after all my years of playing there are still things that I have not read about and won't unless I have to. I like being a noob at times and laughing at my mistakes!

Go to Glacier_S campaign battle, get tags. Oh hey is that Kaiser Behemoth right here by the flag? Lemme get signed up for union first. Event Skipped. (redtext) Oshi- run! (redtext) (redtext) PLOP.

Okay, RR and run. Walk a litlte way, (redtext) PLOP. Uh, yeah.

WHM standing at a distance drops an R3. Get up, start moving, PLOP.

Another raise comes, get up. Before the get up animation ends, PLOP.

Ol' KayBee was spamming some kind of AoE lightning attack, once every 5 seconds or so, with a range that must have been 30 yalms. And camping the freaking flag when he did it. (Defensive battle, so tags at flag.) Bucking frilliant.


Another minor gripe from that battle, apparently the Allied Mantlets give you Refresh, Regen, and Regain. Except that it overwrites my Composured Refresh with one that has the normal duration.


Oh, and for those of you who were whining "SURVUR MURGE KILLED MAH TEH CAMPAYAN", try going back now. It's back to normal now here on Sylfairy. It was never the merge, it was the update.

Stuipd people in Campagin.

1. Do not "camp" the mobs (a.k.a pull one to the other side of the zone while you slow kill it with a joyeuse)
2. ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A FRIGGIN MOONFANG WARRIOR
3. let the mobs aggro the fort/npcs. (hint: The NPCs won't leave the fort unprotected, so you can let the 13 mobs engage them, and then pull one away at a time, as the NPCs don't generate Enmity like we do, on campaign mobs.
4. If your killing a mob, by yourself, and I come along and start stabbing it also, Do not attempt to MPK me. Your an Ass hole and you don't understand how experience/allied notes are earned in campaign anyway.
5. 90% of the time, 1st mob to the fort is the Mega Boss.... Let him do his bussiness until the entire zone is ready to kill him. Please.
6. If you can raise (I.e. Drg/whm, anything /whm, blah blah) how about not being a fucking prick and raising dead people after the campaign battle ends. I know you need your precious Mp for Healing breath, but i'm keeping a list, and your name just got put on it. Fuck you if I ever see you face down in the dirt.
7. SE's shitty notification system as to what battle is going on, where, and for how long/ how many mobs.
I really love showing up, getting my tags standing around for 10 minutes, waiting.... and the battle suddenly ends, I get 10 exp points, and it cost 70 to tele there and back. (usually due to someone "Camping" a mob somewhere in zone)
8. I know it's not hard to avoid it, it's a huge flying f'ing dragon, but I don't care. SE take that shit away from Xarcabard. It's not funnie. If you think your being clever and providing a new "Challenge" your right, it's a challenge that most people in campaign can't deal with, because THEIR SOLOING... prick ass designers..

I totally agree, it's always the updates to campaign that draw the crowds. This time the circus was merely exasperated by population inclines.
