Powerlevellers.

There is absolutely NO need to be powerlevelled. You have FIVE other people in your group to help you kill the monster and not die. If you cant manage that, you are fighting in the wrong area, or you're just clueless, in which case, do some reading, talk to people who play your job, and learn how to play it.

The only reason i hate the dunes is because of PL's.

I dont mind the death.

I dont mind the unnecessary links.

I dont mind the noobs.

But I mind the PL's. I'd rather solo until Lv 20 than be powerlevelled in the dunes. After getting WHM to 75, I took a break to go back to BRD... I had to log off in disgust after 2 hours of looking for a party, getting no less than three invites in all that time, gettting to camp, and realising there was a PL and having to disband, for the sake of my sanity...

Some people love PLs, some dont. That their opinion and thats fine, they are welcome to play the game how ever they please, but I would rather not have my hand held through a game which is supposed to be challenging and fun. Id rather work for my exp and levels, it gives me more of a sense of achievement when i log at night.

It may be because my main job is white mage... but even on my other jobs I dont like Powerlevellers... It ruins the fun of dying >.>

PL's is what to me, make the TP burn mentality so easy to grasp. >_>; I haven't been to the dunes to actually exp in such a llloooonnng time. But I do PL only my friends who's got merrit in knowning this game to speed up having to live through gobby land of the sand. Like I won't pl a party or some random lowbie, that's were I draw the line. Or I will pl until they get a party them I'm off to lfp myself or 'try' to farm. Keyword, try.

I've only played for a month, but I have a couple of pet peeves. One is that I'm a black mage and seem to attract a lot of hate from monsters. The problem is I die a lot...maybe its just that I don't know when to cast, but sometimes its the WHM in the party. I was in a party once where the WHM always healed me when I had close to full hp, but never healed me when I was on the verge of dying. Sometimes when theres a PL helping the party, a WHM will not pay attention to the game thinking the PL will heal everyone, and as a result I always end up dead ='/

That can be attributed to what's called 'over-nuking.' BLMs have the potential to do a lot of damage to a lot of different mobs. That being said, since they can do quite a lot of damage from one spell, they tend to pull larger amounts of hate. As a blm, you will have to learn when to cast certain spells and when to hold off for a few seconds. If your tank just threw a voke or pulled a lot of hate in some way, a large nuke will probably do a lot of damage while not quite pulling hate to yourself.

BLM is a fun, yet complicated job at first because people just want to see those OMGz DMG numbers, but forget their spongy blm bodies can't handle being hit more than a few times. It takes a little getting used to but with some time you'll learn to time your casts and to pull the least amount of hate.

On PLs ...

I hate them too, but I kind of view them as a necessary evil through much of the Dunes, if only because parties refuse to get through without them. So I merely make it my goal to get through the Dunes as quickly as possible so I don't have to put up with it.

I sometimes PL my husband when he's LFP and he wants to get some xp while waiting. Sure, he could fight EPs, and he does (like when I'm busy) but a lot of times if I have some time I don't mind getting the healing skill ups.

The PL stops when he gets an invite though. I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to PL an entire party. Even if I'm getting paid. Too much responsibility, too little thanks. And also it just sucks.

I don't have a problem with those who perform the PLing. I have a problem with players who beg for the service to be performed for them.

The other day, a player in my LS asked if anyone could come and PL his "noob" party. He was around level 34, and over in E. Altepa. After he got no response over the next few minutes, he complained about not getting any volunteers. I got so irritated that I told him a party at that level shouldn't need PLing, and needs to learn how to play.

I stopped PL'ing parties recently. Just too much work, and contributing to the issue of noobs not learning. The only time I PL a party now is if its all LS, and I know they know a thing or two - I.E on a second char or just generally know how to play a job.

I kinda just developed my own little PL scheme (my WHM friend does this too). Basically if I'm just bored and/or passing by, maybe I'll stop and throw a cure II or III every now and then to keep the tank alive. Maybe I'll buff the tank with a higher level Protect and Shell. Maybe I'll cast more cures. This happens usually when I know a person in the party.

However, as soon as I am asked if I'm here to PL or if I want to or if I will continue to do so, I stop. I don't PL when people ask me, and I'm not obligated to. Enjoy your duration of free help while it's there, but don't bitch when it's gone.

I try to throw only the level of proc/shell they are currently at, noticed that if you use a higher one, it wears quickly anyway

My new pet peeve? Impatient people.

Me and my friend gathered people for Divine Might, manaburn style. So we shouted for roughly 2 hours, gathering together all the black mages we could find. After a good 3 hours, we go into the BC, cast, hume mijin gakures, we die, reraise back up, cast again, elvaan benedictions, and die again. (worst luck ever by the way)

Just after the first run, people were giving up! It annoys me and my friend how we take our fricken time to set the run up, and all these blms who joined at the last second say they have to leave just after the first run!

It just amazes me how inconsiderate people are. After the blms left, we were left with 14 blms, which made it impossible for the rest who needed Divine Might.

Just.....argh!

Impatience bugs the hell outta me.

I spend hours upon hours setting up everything, making sure I have gear/meds, and read all the strategies for what ever I'm doing. I get all ready the night before so that when I log in, I'm where I need to be with the stuff that I'll need. But no matter what there is that one asshole that rushes there, and then ask people still on thier way to get thier food, meds whatnot.

More so are the people that feel like they win a race by being the first one somewhere. And I laugh my slow taru ass off when they need a raise. Ninja's with thier AF boots that run ahead, or thf's that flee to a BC, just to say they got thier first. Whats the point, you can't start till we're all their anyways.

I like to do things in a timely fashion. If something is scheduled for 7, I get ready at 5, head out there at 6, and then wait till 8 for everyone to get there. But I know that's what's going to happen, and I don't gripe. Always some ass bickering about people not being here on time.

THINGS LIKE THIS:

I was leveling RDM in Mount Zhayolm last night, and we were all doing very well. The Bard and Thief were switching back and forth between pulling, and the xp was pretty good.

Well, our Bard runs out and pulls a mob, and shortly thereafter, our WHM, who speaks only French, says "stop." Well, it was too late at that point because she had already pulled, so we figured we'd keep going.

Somewhere lost along the chat log - and I didn't see it until later - the WHM says, "Jarret le cure," which, based on my rusty knowledge of French from high school all those years ago, meant he was saying he wasn't going to cure.

So the NIN gets hit for Incinerate, and he dies. Then the Bard dies. The DRK, THF, and I are doing well until I run out of MP, so I run out of range and Convert. I managed to pull a lot of hate curing the other two members, and due to my lessened HP from the recent Convert, I die as well, and so does the DRK.

The THF survives, and then the WHM says something (in French) about teaching us a lesson, then disbands and warps. WTF!!!!

So now we're all angry with this jackass, because first of all we don't know what the hell just happened. No one knew he wasn't going to cure (otherwise I WOULD HAVE! I usually keep an eye on HP but I was most likely debuffing the mob ... hell no one expects the tank to go down that quickly) and so this asshole sat there and watched us all die.

So my husband, (who was the DRK and the PT leader) sends him tells, and the WHM basically says that when the WHM says not to pull, you shouldn't pull. Okay, first of all, how is "stop" the best way to tell people not to pull? Especially after the pull had taken place? So the WHM is basically telling us that he was somehow "in charge" of the party, and he was saying he didn't have MP. Right ... because 600 MP is nothing. >.>

And what kind of asshole watches and lets a party die because of something so fucking petty anyway? This guy was the first person I've ever placed on my blist after almost three years of playing. It just makes me SO ANGRY, I mean who does that kind of crap?

I know that Karma will bite him in the ass eventually, but damn. How do you just sit there and watch - and probably laugh - as your party tumbles over, one by one?



Hell, I got the xp back and I even leveled, but I just don't understand the mentality of some people.

ya whms these days really are way too cocky for thier own good (no offense to the good nice whms out there its a growing trend.), Well time to invite rdms only knock some of these whms down a peg. (my gf is a whm and a rdm so im safe >.>)
