Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Now that I think about it... this scenario could trigger that event, though it is probably not working as intended:
1. You have a pet, its fighting a mob.
2. Mob starts casting a spell.
3. You go out of range, and release your pet.
4. Mob is still casting the spell (This is most definitely a Bug, the mob will stop casting once the spell-cast time is over)
5. You go within range.
6. You get hit with the spell as long as the spell-cast timer is still going.
I think I remember this happening... only a pet job can test this, might as well try to recreate the bug and report it.signatures are for pussies mew mew mew, here's mine

The horrible subtle effects Final Fantasy XI has on your mind...
For my work right now, I had to type "Grafton Fire Department" on a form, and I accidently typed "Gration Fire Department".

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
I think puddings can do that too for some reason. I was in a BLM group in Zhaylom and my buddy opened with gravity>tier4 and the Pudding cast Burst (on him), little did he know another pudding aggro'd him and one-shotted him. Another teammate in range was hit with the burst. I too think it's a bug***************************************

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Haven't posted here in awhile but this lil incident annoyed me alot today. People who cant be bothered equiping their jobs with up-to-date or reasonable gear. Doesn't have to be the best or anything but taking a job past lvl 37 to 75 at least try to and don't get an attitude when i call you out on it or tell you that maybe you should get better gear.
Was invited to a lvl 54 party on my sam to find the drk leader was wearing gear that was lvl 16 bone armour (all his gear was below lvl 20 infact) and had empty equipment slots then had the nerve to ask for accuracy food because he couldn't hit the mob. I told him maybe he should get some new gear and he replied "I only equip blu, rng, sam properly, you have a problem?" After that he got all upset and decided he needed to go sky so disbanded party leaving me to seek for ages or struggle to make my own party (but i ended up on brd for a ls party XD).
I understand not wanting to spend the gil on something that's just a subjob or using low lvl gear which happens to be great through to higher levels but that was sheer laziness. I'm not rich, i don't have the time to get alot of great gear (since i play EU times most NA events are way to late for me) but damn i try to keep up to date!

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
I have to agree with that incident. The level difference was way out of line. I have a 10 level limit for the most part. Of course, there are some pieces of equipment that defy that but I'm talking mainly body, legs, feet, hands, head, and weapon; and mainly for melee and tanks.
I'm just tired of people that have at least one 75 and act like they are above decently equipping another job they are leveling. They get this attitude that they are more knowledgeable or better than you because they are high level or have multiple high levels so you shouldn't be critiquing what they are wearing. Asshats, all of them.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Current irritation: watching other Red Mages TP in MP/INT/MND/MAtk/MDef gear, often in Jet serweels, Artifact(hands excluded), Relic(pants excluded), or /shudder... Errant.
Hell, I'd even sympathize TPing in MAcc gear (though just barely), at least that can be explained if you're worried about En-spell accuracy. Alas, not even that.
I mean, it's typically only in Campaign battles, and I respect that in such a casual environment players are free to conduct themselves as they please, and so I keep my mouth shut.
But it hurts to watch...
... hurts... so... bad...

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
Meh, back in the day when I had a short time to kill before an LS event or was waiting for a window to open, I'd melee in my mage gear in Campaign too. I really couldn't afford to be running to the Mog House to change because ls shit was on the horizon.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
I'm either bringing my full melee gear or not meleeing, lol. Nothing in between. I keep my melee gear that isn't job-specific(PCC/Rings/Dusk/etc) in my satchel at all times, and swap it for staves/clubs/shields when I want to whack at something. For the longest time I quit meleeing on RDM just because I couldn't manage to carry the gear.Callysto of RamuhCaithsith - 75 RDM / BRD / COR / PLD / WAR / SCH / DRK

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
I still can't stand ppl who Diaga our Summoner Burn parties b/c they feel insulted when we tell them not to hit the mobs.
The other night we had the new K.Tunnel NM (Thoon) as our CFH mob (he works perfect by the way, never dies), spent 30 minutes with 2 pullers, trained nearly the entire zone to have a random guy come up and we all say please don't attack, please please please. He says the following {Leave}? <<<<angry {Take care.} and proceeds to whoop on the CFH and -aga the crowd. In recent GM calls they do observe SMN burns and tell us they are legitimate and ppl who mess with them will be monitored/dealt with, so if you do this, think twice.***************************************

And I recognize not everyone bothered with the Security Token, but in the advent of Mog Satchels, they no longer have an excuse for not carrying five to ten extra pieces of melee gear.

Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?
I never got a Mog Satchel either. I either bring gear with the intent of meleeing, or I don't. Like Callisto says, there is very little overlap. At best, I might keep things around like MND rings or Torques. But I never have a Sword and Staffs in my inventory at the same time, least of all because my macros are such that it is very easy for me to accidently swap and lose TP.sigpic
