So how exactly do you manage to search for a rep if you're main healing?
Do you just let people die so you can have some downtime for searching?

To be honest it depends on how stupid your party leader and puller are. Usually most people will let you have some downtime to finish talking to a rep. Unfortunately, outright refusing to heal until you have sent the tell and got a reply is the only way to get through to some people.

It could be that everyone is /NIN so the front line fighters aren't in danger of very suddenly losing huge chunks of MP (well unless you're doing Sky Gods or HNMs).

There are times when the party has lost a chunk of HP which is when it's really nice to break out the curagas but even then, if you only have say 3 people who have lost HP and aren't in danger of being hit anytime soon you have three separate Regen spells to drop on those couple of party members that aren't currently in mortal danger.

A good RDM will see this and maybe drop a Curaga or Cure 1 if the regen spells won't quite bring everyone back up to full health.

A bad RDM will just ignore the fact that you are casting regens and just spam Cure IV everywhere.

A good RDM will let you main heal because the strength of the Stoneskin effect given to you by Solace is based on how much HP you have cured.

A bad RDM will just cockblock your cure stores and in the long run cause both of you to use more MP because the tank isn't getting the capped stoneskin effect from your cures.

A good RDM will see that you are /SCH and communicate with you to see if Refresh or Sublimation is the best option for your MP regen. (Hint: Sublimation saves the RDM lots of MP in parties that have lots of people who need refreshing)

A bad RDM will just refresh himself while staring at you blankly when you ask them to refresh the tank.

A good RDM will split hate cycles with the WHM. Tank, 3DDs, WHM and RDM means that the WHM and RDM are only ever hasting two people each.

A bad RDM will stand and stare then start overwriting the hastes you started to cast to keep the DDs happy.
Yes I know all about how regen works and the best time to cast it. I did say that I played it for nearly 3 straight years at one point....and well too I added. In my experience, MOST whms use regen to be lazy. They plunk one on and go "Ok time to /heal and play some DS/PSP/watch tv/fuck off/etc." Then when the rdm goes "Hmmmm...tank going down fast, I'll cast a cure.", the whm freaks out "OMGWTFBBQ I HAVE REGEN ON HIM YOU ASS!! I hate all you rdms that cure over my regen...blah blah blah blah..." I haste, I refresh all casters, I communicate, I cast curaga, I rarely cast cure IV, and I'm a competent rdm. Oh ya...I have rdm to 75 on FOUR different characters and I've seen the previous scenario happen MANY times. So when I see whms ranting about rdms......ya we won't go there cause I'll have to give myself a fucking infraction! lol

FYI, no one hastes other than me when I'm in a pt. Whm concentrates on curing and status bullshit, I haste and thats the way it should be. And /sch whms can tell me if they want refresh, THEY are to communicate that to me. I shouldn't have to check the fucking whms subjob every damn time to see if I should /t them to see if they want refresh or not. Refresh is for THEIR benefit so if they have /sch and want it or not, THEY should communicate with ME.

One of my two close friends that I play with is a RDM, level 50 I think. He vents to me about the pressure of being a RDM in higher level parties. Heh, now I think I get it. No wonder he likes level sync'ing down to level 15 and hunting with me in a 2 or 3 person party. You guys are intense, man!

Yeah, there's a reason I put RDM on hold to go level subjobs for a month once it hit 41.

I for some reason never had an interest in leveling RDM. In fact I think it's the only basic job I've never messed around with.

I like partying with RDM's though. It's cool having a melee partner who can cure, enfeeble, and buff (He subs /WHM).

You should try partying with just one or two good friends, like from your LS or something. Makes all jobs easier. The whole game becomes so much more relaxed. I love it.

I've got a ton of 'em after tonight, but we'll go with the overall heading of Idiots.

Getting stuck in a JP party.
I like to be able to communicate or even banter with the people in my party. It's no fun watching a bunch of kanji(is that correct?) fly across the screen all night and have absolutely no idea what's going on.

                        Idiot Red Mages.
I think this is the second time I've gotten stuck with this JP RDM who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. He put together the party, but he was a goddamn leech the entire time.

I'm on White Mage so I'm handling most of the curing duties and everyone is groovy, alive and with status ailments being blasted away 3 seconds after they land most of the time. What is this guy doing? He's casting his enfeebles and then sitting his Tiny Taru ass back down to recover the 32 mp he spent, jumping up only to cure over my Regens. He was sitting on a max mp of 400 for most of the night. I wanted to strangle this guy.

Oddly enough a few minutes after sending him a /tell inquiring about the status of his elemental magic, he promptly disconnects. This guy had somehow bumbled his way into the 50s on RDM too. It made me very angry to see the job given such little respect. It's one thing for someone to slack off if they're just taking it up as a subjob, but after that you should show a little more dedication.

                        More idiots.
We did fine with just 5 players for a while, but whoever got the leader role managed to scrounge up a bard for us somehow. That's cool, bards are handy to have in a party, right? Right?
Well they'd be more useful if they weren't doing dumb shit like sleeping the mob we're fighting. You sleep links, you don't sleep the thing we're actively hitting. What good does that do?
They also started pulling out Ice Threnody which I thought was odd since I've never seen a bard use it before, but I rolled with it since it made landing Paralyze easier.

Honestly I think the only reason this party worked out was because everyone on the front line was spamming shadows. It made main healing a very lazy affair. It was nice to not have endless mp sinks, but it also made it fairly dull as there was no challenge to keep people alive, enfeeble, Erase and grab a few ticks of mp without it all falling apart.

Shadows on the tank is fine, but 4 front line jobs all with shadows? I barely had to regen, much less cure anyone.

It was an easy 3 levels, but it left me feeling like I didn't accomplish anything.
Well, maybe getting a feel for spamming Erase on the tank but even then I didn't have a clear view of where hate was so I was bluffing it half the time with the assumption that the designated tank had hate or would soon re-establish hate.

He sleeps the mob because it interrupts the mob hitting whoever its on and then they have a small chance of being able to get up shadows or whatever. BUT doing it multiple times on the same mob is asking for lots of hate so I don't advise going bonkers with it.

He certainly pulled hate often enough to get more healing than any other bard I've partied with.
The JP parties I've been with play so conservatively it's almost insulting to be asked to heal for them. No one bothers to take damage, so what am I here for? Then again maybe I've just had a set of weird parties.

I swear, my most recent money maker has dropped at least 2k in the last few weeks with no signs of recovering. (Yes that's a significant hit for this synth, I'm not dabbling in things like HQ staves)

I don't mind branching out in the synth department, but when I'm sitting on five stacks and even the regional Auction Houses are saturated, it's just frustrating. Either I sit on them for a month while prices restabilize, or I dump my stock and contribute to the problem. It's a lose-lose situation.
