Well what I was referring to...

I can accept the annoyance of you saying No thanks to party in /seacom and getting one anyway, but, if you change the /seacom AFTER they have supposedly looked at it and then said yes tp party...you cant really blame them for not re-checking to see if you had by chance edited it.

Especially in the lower levels. What else are you going to do, exactly?

edit: And Hongman had a point. The PT isn't obligated to look at your /seacom after you've accepted the invite. The responsibility was on you to say "What role?" when the guy invited you.

        When system message got up, I thought 10pdt was the next hour, so I changed it to {party} {no, thanks} {Raise}ing {Summoner's Magic}

I got an invite...and I check my cell phone world time and noticed its still faraway from 10pdt. So I re-edited my /seacom again and I said yes.

After shouting for a raise for my new party mates. I looked at party list. I see no WHM.

        <me> "Who's the main healer?"

        <leader> You"

<me> "Goodbye then, I'm not a healer, I'm a summoner. I main heal on my other job, but won't do it as a summoner.

I disband and leader sends me a /tell

<leader> We only have 1hr to exp before world maintenance.

<me> Should of have read /seacom, I re-ediited after you guys ask me to party.

        He/she didnt respond back.

        > Last night in the dunes, I loved it not main healing and had so much fun as a summoner. But I won't spend 99% of my time main healing in the dunes, qufim, jungle, ect. Summoner is a DD not a main healer, dumbasses.
Well I agree that people should read search comments, but from what I understand is that you had {party} {No thanks.} up at the time of the invite.

First the leader was rude to invite anyways, but if you accepted don't assume that once you're invited that people are going to re-read your search comments. I always check search comments when inviting people, but I don't think I've ever done so once I've sent the invite.

I should of said something in party, that I wasn't gonna main heal or something. Since I rechanged it. Before when I wasn't seeking I had something said like party no thanks, raising summoning magic, I changed it after I got the invite. Didn't realize the all world maint, was in an hr. >.< I got the invite....I had to run to I-7 and found the two people who sent me tells for party were dead. O.o

I'm just trying to enjoy to be a summoner, without being a main healer, last night for once it felt good not able to be main healer.

Its plan and simple, smns don't make good main heals, they can SHARE healing with rdms(which i've done both jobs), but not main. I'd rather go with a melee sub that has subtle blows on it so i don't feed the mob to much tp while dding with my avatar (most likely carby unless there is a sc i can mb on with the others). Seriously I enjoy the 5 person refresh cycles and debuffing the mob on rdm and I love going head on with an avatar against the mob to buff the party/dd and mbing with a bp. Its just redictulous how potentionals for jobs are limited by peoples perception.....
Mini peeve - <_<; Still haven't gotten a party I can tank as rdm for a while (last time i was 62, now 70 @10k tnl)......

            • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

I hate main healing as my RDM, but toss a Summoner in there with me whose job is to be the "main" healer (probably 60-75% of the healing is on him/her) and allow me to continue to debuff/refresh/and maybe haste depending on the situation, then those parties can be - and have been - just as good as "optimal" parties in which there is a WHM main heal and myself there as support.

I just flat out don't like to main heal. Any time I'm seeking on RDM, my search comment says that. If I do get an invite and I check the party list and there's no WHM or other healer (another RDM or a SMN maybe), and no intention of getting one, I tell the leader that I did not want to main heal, and I politely disband. When my search comment says that I do not want to main heal, I mean it. So I understand where you were coming from. But if your search comment doesn't say it, then it's your responsibility to tell the party leader that you're not interested in main healing so that he/she knows to find another healer or else find another of your job class.

                I suggest that, from now on, you leave the {Main} {Healing} {No thanks} as a permanent 2nd or 3rd line when you're doing stuff as SMN. Change the other lines to adjust to whatever you happen to be doing at the moment, whether it's {I want experience points} or {I'm sorry} {I'm playing solo right now}

Or people that invite you, you're apparently the second member in the party, then pass lead and let you handle the recruiting.

I'd add to this thread, but no one has been annoying in-game lately. ._. Don't even remember what I don't like anymore...

Even the pickup groups run smoothly, and almost everyone I've interacted with is polite and nice.

                      Edit:
Maybe my pet peeve should be not being able to remember what my pet peeve is?

My number one complaint at the moment is people who do not see that venting is therapeutic.

Close second was a witnessed suck. I was bringing my best bud some shihei in CN, level 40ish party. I am bored so I stay around a bit to watch. The party doesn't have a WHM, but instead has a RDM and BRD duoing healing.

This is all well and good, except the RDM is meleeing. I just sit and watch, getting rather annoyed with him. Personally, if I was in the party, I'd raise a fuss, because they were having major downtime between each battle.

I figure it isn't my place to judge, though, so I just hang out, skilling up on Workers from up the tunnel (this party is fighting Soliders @ the camp next to the entrance of the big room) when the puller links.

I'm midway through a Crawler, and rather in a position of not being able to help them. They end up having half of them killed, which I raise once I'm done with my crawler. I get a pissy tell, from one of the members, asking me why I didn't help them, and offering to pay me 10k for a PL. *glares at the idiots*

If someone dumps leader on me without asking for any reason, I just disband. Not too difficult. Sucks that I lose a party, but it's not as if I'd want to party with someone like that anyway.

Venting is totally theraputic, Illuen. That's why I'm glad this thread exists. It keeps people from feeling like they have to start an entirely new thread about some random problem they had. Best to keep things consolidated.

Of course, some people don't care and just make a new thread anyway. Those people can DIAF.

Hmmm, what has really annoyed me as of late...
                              - Players who come on coffer key / G1 item / O-hat runs as the lower level item-needers, and still lot on all the other incidentals that drop. Leave the loot for those who are there just to help. That coffer key / exoray mold / O-hat should be reward enough for you.
                              - Players who come on a coffer key / O-hat run, and then leave immediately after getting their item. I recall one Beadeaux Coffer key run where about 2 keys in (there were at least 5 players there who needed a key), one less-than-helpful WHM (I was healing more than he was, and I was there as a WAR/WHM) asked if he could get the next key outright, as he had to leave ASAP.

I have to admit, I'd find it really depressing to do these sort of things with people who were concerned about every little thing that drops. When my friends and I do things, we just let everything auto-distribute (save the item we're there for, of course), and whoever get something cool gets congratulated.

When doing something like that with strangers, I guess you'd want to sort that out before leaving town, but since I don't do things like that with strangers, I don't honestly know what that would be like.
