With the lack of people that even bother to tank in Besieged, the moment I try to sure one of the tanks bitching at me for a cure I regularly find most of my MP going on trying to keep myself alive while being bitched at over /tell by tanks who should be tanking that I'm not curing or raising them the second a mob looks at them funny.

If. I have never used the pay taru. Because my first main is WHM, and now I have all the teleport and warp spells. And I don't play enough in AU to set my home point there.

But my real peeve here is people who have an elitist attitude about the free warp taru. Yes, elitist.

But oooh, let General Zazarg get taken, and he's back right away. Yes, I know he's a general and all, but I'm sure that Giant's Drink is a big part of it. Those melee DDs love their HP e-peen. And they sure do whine for cures when there's no Wizard's Drink around and the WHMs aren't proactively healing people.

And "manage your MP better" doesn't help much when you're a BLM and esentially all you can do useful for the battle is high-MP nukes. And you can skill up magic.

"melee DDs"...right...Yeah, if they're the ones next to the mob, especially with Mamool Ja, they need the HP to survive those AoEs. I don't care if you're a melee though, or a mage, or a melee subbing mage so you can get easy backline Besieged EXP, or a mage subbing melee so you can have your thrills. I know that if Giants Drink is in your inventory, you use it too.

Pointing out that there is a frustration free other option out there for you if you want a quick teleport from Whitegate to Jeuno or your Home Nation is hardly elitist. I almost never have IS, but I just buy silver coins on the AH. They aren't very expensive, and the convenience is well worth it to me. Otherwise, I have WHM and BLM and RDM leveled enough that I can port myself pretty much anywhere else I'd like to go. But sometimes I just want to be in Jeuno right away. So I make the choices that allow me to do that without ever having to worry that it's going to go away.

Manage your MP better is sound advice for any mage. Nuke, Nuke, Nuke, rest with hMP gear on, Nuke, Nuke, Nuke, rest with hMP gear on, etc. Make yourself some juices, make friends with a job that can refresh you, or do whatever it takes.

Since you're not willing to go rescue the taru yourself, but you still want the benefits of the temporary item he provides, what other suggestions would you have me make OTHER THAN manage your MP better?

I use the free warp taru quite often since I tend to want to go to Jeuno for something. Otherwise I leave my HP in Port Windurst and just hit the moghouse and go /blm for Warp if I want to get back home.

These days because I'm Windurstian and they never control any conquest zones, my HP is in Jeuno. If I really need to go back to Windurst I just repatriate or use an OP warp.

I've been thinking of changing my HP lately because of Repatriation. Jeuno or Windurst [S] would make a nice homepont.

Probably Windurst [S] since AN for warps are much easier to get than points for FoV buffs, which I use quite a bit of for MMM runs.

I don't know about using Repatriation as a primary means of getting back to hometown. Think 50 tabs is a lot if you don't do FoV all that often.

But along those lines, it does bewilder me that people would shout for teleports or Retrace, and pay 2K for it or so. Between NPCs that can port you from town to town, OPs more affordable and sometimes even free now, Staging Points, Cavernous Maws, and Repatriation, not to mention Olduum/Tavnazian Ring, virtually every corner of the game is accessible with 5 to 15 minutes walking time. There are bazaars camping the pay warp taru selling imperial silver pieces for, at best, 800 gil!

Some people don't do things other people do, and don't even those same things on the same job. For instance, last night we're farming in Sky, I am on War/Nin and I get asked to switch to Thf and come back. So I warp to bastok to change and then use the npc to send me to Whitegate because a Tele-Dem > "elevator" > Sky is a lot faster than OP > Li Telor > Run to Sky through 3-4 zones.

It's appropriate that this is in Pet peeves because I shouted for tele in WG for about 5 mins then went to Jeuno and shouted for abotu 3 mins. Where are the tele-bots..? Lol. I ended up buying a Tele-Dem ring for 5k and used it, so that was great. I had no idea they were so cheap. I even bought a second one for storage. 5k for 10 teles = 500 gil per tele and no waiting or traveling to other zones.

Anyways, the main thing is sometimes I need a tele, and when I do it's usually time sensitive. I'm sure there are other people that have similar situations, especially the melee jobs.

Apparently the bots got all the non-bot WHMs to stop caring about giving teleports, then I guess the STF caught up with them. Why bother trying to compete with a bot that can send a tell and invite in a quarter of a second, when it takes longer than that for you to type the name, even if you didn't blink when the shout came up?

I've noticed people having to shout for teles multiple times in WG lately. Even the level 36 teleports sometimes go 2 or 3 shouts, and any 75 can /WHM for that. But I don't want to set my HP in Whitegate, so I'm not really too interested in a puny 1000 gil when it costs me 300 of that just to get back, or I have to convince them to follow me to the mog house where I can zone at 75%. And the triple shouters almost never raise their offer above 1000, meaning even less incentive to switch back to WHM. I've also noticed Fairy's infamous Jeuno telebot Feroin has been missing for a few days, but that's happened before, so I'm not celebrating at least until I'm rid of my bonanza marbles.

Now that I have Retrace, I really don't need the free warp taru for Jeuno any more, unless I happen to already be in Whitegate. The Rolanberry maw isn't that much farther, especially since Fairy has had Swift Shoes for so long. But I want that Wizard's Drink back, or I will when we stop getting puny level 1 Besiegeds.

Look, I'm sorry if you're like jealous or whatever, but you're the one who can't manage his MP. Why can I do it on WHM BLM or SCH but you can't? Just because I happen to have RDM leveled, which is a job that excels at MP management doesn't mean that I don't still know how to do it when I'm not RDM.

I mean, between this and "lolConvert" I can't help but wonder why you're so butthurt about RDM. It's kind of ridiculous.

Are you complaining about lack of Wizard's Drinks from a "I can't get max EXP" position or a "We need them to win Besieged" position? Because meleers subbing /WHM and just running around healing people seem to get EXP just fine, even if their jobs don't innately have MP. Even stranger is the thought of people actually yelling for people to cure them, given the Elixirs and Potions and items given to them...

If you don't like that people don't get Wizards Drink from a "Need to Win" position, maybe it's time for you to jump servers, since it's obvious the one you're on isn't all that invested in winning. People, though, did used to win Besieged prior to having temporary items.

...and a RDM telling other mages that they need to manage their MP better. That's so precious.
Sub /SCH? Otherwise, you're in a weak position to be talking about MP management. And if meleers aren't using the provided meds on themselves, they're in a weak position to be asked to be cured.

I mean if that specific NPC is so vital to the success of Besieged I'm pretty sure at least a few people would be interested in joining the rescue team.

But if it turns out that npc (or his Besieged item) isn't as important...
