You can obtain glass fiber by desynthing bugbear, moblin and goblin masks with a lightning crystal, which cap at 20, 21 and 29 alchemy respectively. Desynthing masks is how I got to 21 and I saved the fibers for lenses and powders.

And that brings up a pet peeve of mine ... desynth failure rates. Granted, I've had success from time to time just going to Upper Delkfutt's as WHM/THF, farming socks, and desynthing on the spot, but the number of breaks is still a pain. I had a worse time with the above desynth, though. The nice thing about Upper Delkfutt is there's often somebody farming pop items, and they really don't mind teaming up with a WHM, especially since I would melee myself and turn it into MP.

You really can't blame people for sticking with the tried and true, though. We had really good success with BLM synchronized nuking Nuhn with BRD+WHM as sleeper team on the first run. So, when people asked me if they can bring RNGs for the second run, I shot them down.

This isn't really so much an issue about sticking to tried and true tactics. This is really more about the general unwillingness to learn about other jobs. It is generally frowned upon these days to not know what other jobs can do, even if they're not your own. But really, not knowing what these jobs can do hurts the jobs themselves because now we don't know what a good one is supposed to look like. Or what expectations we should be holding of them. We know what a horrible SAM looks like, but we don't hold it against the whole job if one happens to underperform, or be a complete ninny in our events.

I just find the still general lack of knowledge of other peoples' jobs in the general playerbase to still be disconcerting. There are plenty of reasons not to take some jobs to some mundane events, like say DRGs to Limbus manaburns (or...DNCs to Imps) But not knowing what jobs can do shouldn't be one of them. Especially with all the resources these days...(although, closing my post like that, I suppose my rant could also generally belong in the long list of people who don't research missions ahead of time, or gear availability, or...even their own jobs) We've got new jobs, but they're not so new that people should still be in the dark about how they function and they're good for. The jobs that have been since Zilart...there's really no excuse.

For those of you are tired of Kupowers spam, we have more Kupowers spam.

At least this time the cheesy "King Kupofried" lines don't show up every time you zone. Just the three current Kupowers, which takes up 6 or 7 log lines on PS2 (depending on the specific powers), compared to the previous five. Yes, again, every time you zone in a Conquest area.

It only took Fairy about half an hour to find them. I saw Tahrongi repeated once. Maybe multiple people can find the same tablet until someone claims their ring, to handle the case of a lowbie who's never been to Jeuno finding it.

I went to Limbus as RDM/SCH and people expressed some concerns about why I would want to do that

We have a Rdm/Sch in our CoP static and she absolutly rocks. When I finally look into leveling my caster jobs I definitely can't wait to see what Sch is all about.

I understand following the tried and true proven methods with the more familiar jobs. I laugh at the same time though cuz I remember answering a WG /sh for a CoP fight (think it was the Mammets) when I was trying to catch-up to my static. They were like 2/6 and they replied:

??????>> Rofl... u serious. {No thanks} {You can have this} a real {job}

They /sh'd for long time and I don't know if they ever got the fight that day. Don't care either. Funny cuz Dnc ended up being rather intrical in the p/u party I eventually got into for that fight. With our Bst + Pup rag-tag strategy, we ended up totally pwn'n that fight. I think we agreed to do 3 dry runs and on the 2nd we just beat it

***Pet Peeve: Organ drop-rates in {sea}. The Thf that comes along only seems to up the drop-rates for HQ organs... none of which we really want cuz we're only goin' for obi, gorgets, etc. I hope Yovra have a higher droprate when we start "UFO-farming" Man those things are creepy.

No seriously, I will take HQ organs from you if you are just going to toss them. We had a stockpile of them but the person holding them quit and we can't reach them. Not like HQs are hard to farm (except when you want them, five minutes before you pop the Jailer) but it's the principle of it, we thought we had a bunch of HQs available and we actually don't. :/

Given how often I see RDMs (and BLMs) cast Bio in pickup exp parties--not smartly skilling up Dark Magic by casting Bio I after Dia II--just straight Bio or Bio II, sometimes overriding Dia I/II cast by someone else, I don't think there's much hope that the general population will understand other jobs when they don't even know how to use the job they are leveling currently.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a WHM used Flash in a pick-up exp party. May SE secretly removed the spell from the job or something.

That is, by definition, duoing.

In a pick up xp party? Fuck no I wouldn't Flash, I don't trust random pick up tanks to hold hate off me. In Dynamis or Limbus or whatever? Sure. Those people are in my linkshell and generally do not suck.

If the tank sucks, wouldn't you get less hate Flashing them than Cure bombing them? Assuming no Cure V yet of course. It's better to prevent damage than cure it anyways, since preventing it means no hate loss.

Today in my LS, this guy needed to do G2. Several people in the LS were like "Hey guy, we will totally help you. Gather Together in Lower Jeuno!" and he was like "Actually, I'm in Beacedine right now anyway, I'll just meet you at the Vahzl crystal after you guys port here." and they were like "Fine, we won't do this." I tried to interject, but was told to shut up. He ended up having to go all the way back to Jeuno just so he could be teleported back to the zone he was fucking adjacent to.

I mean, how dare he show foresight in trying to reduce delays.

I agree with you Murphie that makes no sense at all. I think what that guy did showed epic commitment, he headed out there by himself thinking "Hey! If I go out there by myself, they'll know I've already talked to X NPC and Y NPC and I'm ready for the mission." Instead they decided to back out since he wasn't ready at the same exact moment that they were.

This is why I quit the sky/sea shell I was in for a while. Well that and not enough free time but it was about 50/50 between the two. Sitting around for 30-90 minutes waiting for people to gather and get organized is not how I want to spend my time. Large group events ftl imo.

When people sub /NIN at levels where it does nothing at all..... It irks me to no end when I see WAWR10/NIN5 in the dunes. A ls mate has ninja leveled to 25 and figured he'd just sub it on WAR since he didn't have MNK leveled to sub, and his only other possible sub was SAM lol. I mean seriously it only takes maybe 3 1/2 hours at the most to level jobs from 1-10 as a melee. So at least that way he could've at least subbed Monk until he could swap off /NIN for Dual Weild, or even take it to 12 so he could sub it until /NIN Utsusemi.

I don't even know where to begin. Nubz, basically. And 99% of the pop are nubz. I've played one of each type of class to level cap, tank, DD, heals, buffs, whatever. I've played it. And it is so rare to party with anyone who even comes close to my level a skill. When someone is even decent, I'll let them know. Guess what, I rarely get that opportunity. Come on, the game has been out HOW LONG and everyone is still running around like they bought their character.
