I should've called myself Rzaydeus so those rmt bastards didn't find my name at the begining of their R search.

    Also, I can't control weather.

Normally, I save this line for the strict, "if you aren't on the backline you're doing it wrong no questions asked" Red Mages, but Ray, I'll make an exception for you:

      <- {Scholar} is {That way}.

Speaking of the aforementioned Scholar wanna-bes with Haste and Refresh, another Pet Peeve of mine: "it's good . . . for solo." Bit of an old peeve, but I have seen this phrase (ab)used as a way for someone to say through their teeth, "Oh, feel free to do whatever you want . . . just don't bring any of that crap to my party." Yeah, nice open mind you have there, Mister /NIN in a Level Sync 20 Qufim party!

Ha! The day SCH can change a zone's weather (so BLM AF Eles can spawn) instead of just giving you the effect of weather then I'll wear those silly glasses.

In the mean time I'll settle for the harem ending with a few SCH hume girls.

          New pet peeve...

You can craft an item that requires a mat that you can not yet craft...

I have been crafting Prism Powders for gil in FFXI to support my alchemy which is at 52 at this point.

What my peeve is though... I can craft prism powders, but I can not yet craft Glass fiber...

          Prism Powder

          Alchemy: 41

Glass Fiber: X2, Artificial Lense: X1

          Artificial Lens

          Alchemy: 34

          glass Fiber: X2

          Glass fiber:

          Alchemy: 61

          Flint Stone: X8

Why can I craft Prism Powders, and Artificial Lenses, but not Glass fiber!?!?! That makes no sense. If you can not create glass fiber, then why can you create Prism Powders, and Artificial lenses? That makes no sense SE! /confused

You can, as early as Alchemy level 20.

There is both synthesis and desynthesis in the game.

Also if you want to relate to the real world, there is a large difference between making something and working with something. But more importantly, you can desynth glass fiber before you need to craft with it.

You can obtain glass fiber by desynthing bugbear, moblin and goblin masks with a lightning crystal, which cap at 20, 21 and 29 alchemy respectively. Desynthing masks is how I got to 21 and I saved the fibers for lenses and powders.

You might as well ask why you can make reraise earrings without Gold Purification, but you can't make the ingot. Or why you can make the ingot, but can't make the anima that it needs.

Just because you can build a fence doesn't mean you can make the planks for it. Or the nails.

I know what you are saying, but that's not what I mean though.

What I do mean is that...

You have to know what the wood is, and the nails are to put up the fence if you want to put one up right?

Well in game... If you can not create the item, your character doesn't know what the item actually is.

Wha... what the hell? Of course they do. They can look it up on the AH, buy it, use it to construct things.

Inability to produce != Lack of knowledge of. For example, you cannot build an airship, but you know what they are.

Somebody in Whitegate was spamming shouts to enlist help for her mission. When I say "spamming shouts", I don't mean she shouted for the whole day. I mean she must've pressed Up and Enter on her text box every 2 seconds so her shouts were literally the only thing you could see for about 2 minutes. They stopped when I assumed she got Mordion Gaol'd. Seriously, how stupid can you be...

Yeah, especially in WG, as if there aren't enough people shouting already.

During the Kupopower event, I talked to the moogle to check on my stats and I've apparently made 5 GM calls. I only really remember one call on this dude shouting racial slurs in Jeuno. I mean srsly I wasn't gonna call a GM, but after he said what he said, somebody shouted "You'd better cut that out before somebody calls a GM on you lol." to which he replied "I don't care, fuckers!" It was just that he had a blatant disregard for authority that pissed me off. However, GMs always have the best solutions for everything, he just said "Add this person to your blacklist."

I totally hear ya on this one... I was one of the Sam/Nin this weekend for a party in Bhaflau attempting this. I thought it was risky but was willing to see how it was gonna work. Well, I didn't get the chance because the Galka War/Nin aggro'd a Fomor and a Bogy-mob on the way to camp and got killed almost wiping the party... then he proceeded to whine about how Protectra wasn't up. (FYI Galka/lolz: that really wouldn't have helped you in not dieing) I don't really think it was a truly good set-up anyway... we shoulda at least had 1-2 of the SAMs be /War for hate control. I don't mind playing Hot-Potatoe but I need some other players. The party ended up piddling out when the leader d/c'd... with my Exp Band still a-glow >.<

Yesterday, I went to Limbus as RDM/SCH and people expressed some concerns about why I would want to do that. But we already had a WHM and a SMN (although the SMN went AFK just as we went in, which is another issue all on its own) so, from my viewpoint, going as /WHM would've been redundant. But we still needed Refresh so going as SCH was not necessarily the best idea, in my opinion. From backline perspective, I truly think /SCH subjob is a legitimate subjob to raise RDM's damage output.

SCH and /SCH though, don't seem to have entered mainstream thought in the game though. Just look at endgame LS shouts and the sort of jobs they typically look for: WHM BLM RDM BRD SMN. SCH, it seems, is a job that people still seem to forget is a mage. For joining events, I still have people not inviting me on SCH to things simply because they don't know what SCH does.

In fact, the only new job that seems to have entered the popular scene is COR, but the only real evidence of that is people shouting for merit parties, where they are likely more content to look at is as an alternative BRD than a hybrid DD in its own right. Two days ago, I joined a pickup Nyzul 60 run and a LS member wanted to join, he had WAR and BLU. The group wanted him to come WAR, he insisted that, for the group setup, BLU was better (this guy was part of my climb static. We never lost a single from floor 1, so I've seen the legitimacy of BLU in Nyzul Isle). The leader's reason for not wanting him to come BLU? This is practically verbatim: "I don't know what BLU does in Nyzul Isle."

Considering the length of time BLU has been out, as well as COR and PUP, let alone ever newer jobs like DNC and SCH, I think that is just unacceptable. This kind of ignorance about jobs really is one of the chief reasons for why some jobs have a tougher time getting invited to things than others.

They also take well geared PLDs and DRKs with amazing zerg equipment set. It's kinda odd that one needs the top of the line equipment to get into many endgame LS's, which revolves around, well, getting top of the line equipment.

                                That said, they don't shout.

Shouting LS's are just wannabe's, which tend to dissapear really fast.

You really can't blame people for sticking with the tried and true, though. We had really good success with BLM synchronized nuking Nuhn with BRD+WHM as sleeper team on the first run. So, when people asked me if they can bring RNGs for the second run, I shot them down.

The Lullaby-to-synch-nuke method was reasonably fast, and fairly safe. Why introduce attacks with different timing making sleeping Nuhn more of a hassle? Every moment the NM is awake is a chance for it to take out one of our DDs (DD = BLM in this case), and I didn't want to give it all that many chances.

Because it was only the second run, I had to think about the request for change before refusing. Ten runs down the road when we can do Nuhn while napping, I can see most leaders in my shoes automatically turn down requests for major deviations.

It turned out to be a wiser decision than I though, too; we did one run on Darksday, and the resist rate for Lullaby and Repose went up significantly. If we had to deal with different timing of attacks on top of that, could've easily run out of Lullaby/Repose tries if attack come too early or too late.

How well an LS is able to integrate new jobs into their strategies depend a lot on the leaders' willingness to rethink how to apprach events as well as the job users' ability to make convincing argument about their usefulness.

I run our LS's ZNM events and head a CoP mission group to catch up a few LS members. In the past two months or so, I've asked:
                                - DNC to co-tank multiple ZNMs.
                                - COR + SMN to amplify the power of our BLM coterie.
                                - BLU to AoE stoneskin, range attack, stun, (and do whole bunch of testing).
                                - BRD + WHM to work as sleeper team.
                                - BSTs to distract Bugbby (Bugbear) with crabs in CoP 5.3 Mine Shaft fight while performing as DDs.
                                - DRG to zerk Snoll Tzar fight (maybe this one is no brainer these days...).
                                - THF to kite two Mammets at once.
Plus, I used my own SCH for many capped CoP events, including two bonus Swift Belt runs inserted into our mission schedule.

Don't have high level PUP in LS (yet?!), but I'm sure I can find a use for it--I've heard of RDM+PUP soloing one zone of Limbus before. I'm also pretty sure I can't be the only person playing FFXI would likes finding places for newer jobs, giving pet jobs the chances to shine, and reconsidering what a long standard job (like WHM) is supposed to do. (WHM''s devotion set is amazingly nice for PLDs to gain enmity with, by the way.)

Not that I don't have my share of failures and dumb ideas; elemental arrows on Armed Gears come to mind...

Anyway, regardless of what the general population is like, there are people who want to find places for all jobs in events. Maybe not every job for every event, but no job should be shut out of an entire class of events, IMO.

                                yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
leaving no trace in the water.
