Kitten, I'm going to take this comment and use it. Please take this advice and apply it to leading an endgame shell. PLEASE! I'm so tired of leaders that are only there for the glory and not there to actually help their ls members. "Oh look at me, I have a shell/sac so kiss my ass and maybe I'll give you a drop!" There should be a friggin IQ/Personality test before you can lead a shell. /rant off

/rant back on Ya you won't get any rave reviews except from the people trying to suck up to you to get something. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Like last night, we were farming Ix Drg before ending events. Of course, 5 minutes before we were going to say we were done for the night, the damn thing pops. Well our ally was split between 2 areas so our melee group went running over to our blm group that popped it. And you know how wonky the hate is with that mob so they were zone nuking and it was zoning with them. So we all disbanded and either died or logged out and came back.

Ok got it all down to normal and the blms individually nuked and zoned till 10%. Now just before this point I notice some dust bunnies under my desk. LOL So I decide to go down under and pick them up. I have my headset on and suddenly I hear death sounds.....it was actually kind of funny with me under the desk with my butt sticking out and UHHHH...URRGHHHH going on. LOL So I get up and try to assess the situation.

My husband is on his computer near me and I look at his screen cause he's on the other side of the zone. What I see is 2 dead blms and a dead thf on my side and on his side I see him (drg), a pld (other sac), and a drk who's trying to friggin solo it. So I start saying in ls "Do NOT kill that mob if you are not in a party!!" over and over because the person is not stopping. At the same time I'm raising the blms and the thf cause I'm the sole whm.

So Ix kills the drk and regens because no one is putting their thinking hat on and I'm still trying to figure out wtf happened. Then I start get /t's from a very angry blm yelling at me for the thf screwing up. Here's me "Huh? What? Ummm.... WTF HAPPENED!?" Damn dust bunnies, this is all their fault! The blm rants on and on at me and I finally lose my temper and ask why am I being chewed out for something I didn't do and that he needs to address this to the right people and leave me alone because his tone is offending me. To which the blm goes "fine I won't talk to you about anything anymore then". /sigh /HUGE SIGH (Compound this with 3+ hours of people whining and complaining to me in /t's during all our events and I had one SHIT TEE NIGHT!)

So, what did happen? This is all that I know. The other sac told the blm pt to invite the thf for TH. The thf joined the pt and decided to ws or sneak attack or something on the mob. The wyverns then decided that they would lullaby the blms, who were casting, and the thf. Then the wyverns and Ix decided to pound the snot out of the blms and the thf. Then a blm zoned and the mob followed and the drk attacked it on the other side. He got it down to 1% and stopped attacking it and ran around with it till he died. (Instead of inviting the pld sac that was STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM and then finishing the mob off.) So Ix regened to 100% and once the blms were up and unweakened they had to start over. Yes, we did eventually kill it even through all that drama.

So ya...there is little glory in leading and a LOT of hard work with even more whining and complaining. /rant off

I agree with this completely. I have been in a few endgame ls's that the leaders and sacks were there only for their own needs... THEN when my hubby and I decided we would start one and try to make it a fair one, you know, the whole everyone working together for the good of everyone... well, that didn't work because people are in too much of a hurry to get the stuff they want so, you start a LS, get a few people in it, but not enough to do dynamis and whatnot, and then as you add people, they don't stick around long enough for you to plan an event!! If it doesn't happen right away, no one is loyal. I think we'd have been good leaders too oh well, on to find a greedy LS to hopefully get some of the stuff that I would like one day........

                Glad you agree

What I was saying was they seem to appear more during the summer in hopes that more legit people will be playing (i.e those people you just mentioned who got out of school/college/universitys and what not), or at least they seem to become more noticible during those months and the months leading up to it. That's just what I've noticed in the past few years.

                *Anyways. DOWN WITH RMT!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

I was in Norg running up the stairs the other night, recieved a Bgame msg, and I swear it stopped my autorun at the top of the stairs. It was crazy late so I have question'd if it actually happened. I brought it up to the LS and someone else said they'd noticed this phenominon too. Curious if anyone else has experienced this?

I never noticed this, even though I am literally spammed with their messages.

I am always doing /tells to a friend while in auto run. chocobo, walking, even with flee on and I have never gotten stopped while Iw as in auto run. It maybe just how your luck is.

I have how ever stopped in auto run when running from a monster and I hit the "esc" key one too many times while I am checking the map. But when I am just in auto run mode and I hit the "esc" key one too many times, it never stops me. Only when I am being chased by monsters.

It could be just that you hit a key or move or something when you get the /tell? Or, if it is the Brogame /tells.. Then something is up.

My take on this is bad leaders love to bask in the glory of what power they believe the have over other people. I find leadership stressful because I have to show consideration toward the greater good of the group and that usually means I don't get what I want anytime soon and deal with a lot people asking me questions in /tell all the time.

Morale is a huge factor and pretty much why I don't do anything in endgame. I have a concept about what it takes to maintain morale. BLMs and PLDs that get merits will want to show up to events. Since I have the ability to get just about any party I want, why not make things happen for people in my LS?

A good leader or even an average one is going to have a concept of morale. This is just why I don't jibe with much of the endgame scene - for most, its about then and how they think FFXI should be played.

There is this one dutiful SMN I know on Odin in a shell that completely forbids pet jobs from participation.

                            Any pet job. Except DRG.

So her SMN only gets time to shine in Avatar runs, CoPs runs and Bahamut fights. I have no idea why she puts up with an LS that won't let her play the job she enjoys and is geared the best for. BRDs are a time a dozen at endgame and she's not good at being a BRD.

See that's another thing - these so-called leaders don't weigh skill in the job, they just weigh the job itself. They take it and place it against every cookie-cutter strategy. Sure, its a way to do things, but if you know someone's better in another job, you need to give them a chance to shine in it.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion this game is designed to frustrate. Quests for useful items in most cases seem aimed at ridiculously high level characters or require the assistance of a high level character which is not always possible to get. I have no idea how people who are not in a Linkshell manage these Quests.

I do not like to ask the Linkshell for assistance (they mostly seem to be off doing high level stuff), so I don't like taking them away from that.

Hence my post for help in the Phoenix Server section...

I don't like arguing with people on this particular thread since anyone posting here is doing so to blow off some steam, but were you really expecting otherwise in an MMO? I notice that the thread you made is for the Airship pass. This isn't a particularly agonizing quest, and a single high level player can help you through it.

Now, I can see where you're coming from, but every single high level player had to, at some point or another, ask for help to do the same. Cooperation is the whole point of an MMO - otherwise you might as well play some offline game with more responsive menus and a more in-depth combat system. When you hit Level 50, you'll need to obtain 3 items from enemies that are way out of your league to be able to level any further than 50. That won't be the only time you'll have to ask for help to break a level cap. In the 50-60 range you'll have to ask for help to obtain your AF armor. If you want to get missions done, you'll need help too.

Honestly, just get used to idea of asking higher level players for help. There's nothing wrong with that. If your LS is worth it, somebody will help you out. Then, when you reach 75, you can return the favor to newer, lower-level LS members.
