What do you have against Ants? Is iVirus some new Apple product?
Why exactly are you facepalming? I can't remember the last time I merited with any sort of "tank" in place. 3 or 4 DD (depending whether you brought 2 BRDs or not) sharing hate as the fights progress, minimal healing is required and everything is smooth. As opposed to one person taking all the hate, which often can be a greater MP sink than 3 people sharing the hate.
One Curaga 2 is less MP than three Cure IIIs or two Cure IVs.
And last I checked, we were talking about TP burn merit parties. Where my question of "What tank?" was perfectly valid. No one tanks meripo. Waste of time and energy on mobs that die in 30 seconds.

That being said, I have nothing against getting tanks for parties. But if we're talking about typical burn parties ranging in 25k-35k/hr, no one is tanking shit. There's no time to worry about such a thing and it's completely unnecessary. I don't even expect someone to voke.

My bad, figured you WERE referring to tanks in general xp pts But for the record, ive tanked as nin and pld in merit pts, and pulled off chain 200+ so dont count out tanking jobs in merit pts

No matter how far an ass travels he will never be a horse. Some people are just bad players and no amount of tools you give them will change that.

I don't merit with anyone I don't know. Saves me the headaches. There are also certain jobs that can GTFO my merit parties, but that's not at all worthwhile anymore considering I don't merit with people I don't know, so jobs are already figured upon.
I used to not be so picky, but with the latest influx of idiot server transfers, my blist gained quite a few new members. Heh, cant wait till i finish COR and can turn down idiots like them

Its called backwards tanking, tell ur tanks to learn that
Yeah... not even sure why we chose to fight a few of them. Later on it made sense, it was necessary, because the MNK, in his semi-idleness, kept on getting aggro from them >.<
Oh, and to note, we were there for subligar farming originally. Testing it out, I guess, with a four man party: RDM/WHM (me), THF/NIN, MNK/DNC, and PLD/WAR. It... didn't seem like a horrid idea at the time, I suppose, but... it didn't work out too well. Eventually, after having managed to get to the third map... well... total party wipe. I had reraise on and used it to get up. Considering they were stuck in one of the corridors with two of them, it... quickly became apparent trying to raise them was futile. So I decided, "Why d3? I can run back!", got caught on the second map
Yeah... that song could've been played for that run too (though I'd prefer "Another One Bites the Dust", but eh ). I think the... three or four times we fought the Stegotaurs, someone died every time. In fact, we probably had a complete wipe at least twice. It was a rather interesting experience for my first run for subligar. At least it was entertaining, I guess
Oh, and that figure is not including the beginning to that little adventure. At first, we noticed there was a group of three people in there. Turns out they intended to farm as well, so we allianced. However, they wanted to fight the Minotaur first. It... didn't go over well. Complete wipe of all seven people, with some members dying three or so times x_x
Oh, and yeah, after that disaster, the three people we allianced with all left, so it was just us four again.
Error messages that FUCKING LIE such as the one in Nyzul that tells you that "all lamps on the floor have been activated" and that "some other action is necessary to activate the rune of transfer" when the real problem is there's ANOTHER FUCKING LAMP that is NOT ACTIVATED
