I always looked down at a person that says a certain race can't do a specific job in the game. Honestly, most of the people I've met via game that sticks to a job because of their race sucked at doing it.

Skill > Gear > Race

But Skill takes work. And Gear takes gil (which takes work and time). So it's no wonder that so many players run around thinking Race makes the biggest impact on the playability of a job. Lazy + poor = Job "racists".

To comment on the topic on races being unable to do certain jobs, I agree that any race can do any job. I'm a Mithra PLD, and sometimes people point it out. But no one has complain on my job at keeping hate, and even though my defense is lower I've never had issues with dying while keeping hate because I used cure (not only for HP, but to keep hate).

I had a Galka WHM in a party before, I didn't notice him doing worse or anything :S It was like having any other WHM

Biggest pet peeve of mine would be idiots.

I got into a discussion a bit ago with another drg, I was advocating drg/war and he was advocating drg/thf. His claim, that he parsed and had all this data on, was that drg/thf had roughly 10% more accuracy than drg/war due to SA and like, +2 dex at lvl 75.

However, he also said that he ate meat mithkabobs as drg/war and sole sushi+1 as drg/thf.

You'd think that he'd acknowledge the fact that sushi is +acc food, so of course his results were highly skewed, but noooo, he's lvl 75 and I should just shut it and appreciate his awesome uberness.

Gah, I still can't believe that guy.

Paladins who don't heal and rest. (I love Paladins, probably more so than NIN tanks, but for the love of god, you have an mp pool for a reason)

Why do people still do this? This is not a way to invite someone to your party.





Especially when you are Rank 10. You (should) know what passes for a proper party invite, so why? Why?

After that he had the WHM of the group attempt to harass me into joining. I guess I was the only tank online at that time.

Too bad, so sad. I don't party at level 12.

Barring most people in general, blind party invites/party invites of one word or less, pompous high levels levelling another job, that evil woman who kept knicking my logging points and then undercutting my log prices....

1. Seem to be loads of whms going through Kazham at the moment so my party this evening had 2 for all of it, the other whm was a whm/smn that I can most politely describe as an exp leech. He joined the party and announced he hated healing so...yeah. After he finally cast something other than Aquaveil and Stoneskin about ten, fifteen minutes into the party *twitch* he was repeating things I had just cast a lot and he was casting very randomly so it was hard to fill in the bits he wasn't doing so I sent him a /tell suggesting that we split things so we both knew what we were responsible for getting done and didn't waste mp. He said "It doesn't matter, no ones Dying and I just want to skill up" *severe facial tick* That kind of attitude just gets to me, especially coming from a whm.

2. Melees who, despite a polite request to pull the mob to a different position so that the mages could stand close enough to cast without having to stand close enough to be slept, will not listen and keep pulling the mob to the same stupid, stupid location.

3. I know I shouldn't get annoyed about it but some peoples names drive me up the wall. Why is it necessary for you to name your character after someone in a book/game/film/TV show? String some letters together, make up a name, it takes two minutes. You are NOT Blade, You are NOT Captain Jack Sparrow, you are NOT Sephiroth or even ~xX#Sephiroth#Xx~ and calling yourself this does not make you kewl.

4. Connected to 3 but slightly different are emo/goth/over flowery names. You shoved two vaguely goth/ominous/ words together or added an iel on the end of your name and crowbared in some vowels where God never intended them to be. Wonderful, I am so pleased for you, now get the hell away from me.

5. Flavour macros. I play to have fun, I get that you play to have fun and if we are in a party together hopefully we can do this at the same time but party lines in macros are for giving people in your party important information. If you want to be 'witty' or 'role play' fine (geh drama roleplayers), just not on something I am seeing more than once every 2-3 minutes o.k? Summoners, Pullers, you know who you are.

Well, things like "DarkDestruction" or that kind of bull annoy me, too. But I have no problem with names like Sabriel (a name a friend often used as a SN on forums), Aeriana/C(a)eryn/etc. Lacking the 'iel' but still uses vowels. Doesn't bother me. Why? Because at least its creative and doesn't use adjectives to try to make a noun. Also, as a writer, I enjoy the 'iel' sound in some names, and fail to see what makes it so annoying. And while some names might *sound* emo or goth, the bearer thereof isn't always of that group. Someone asked me on Monster Hunter once if I was emo because of my character's name. To this day I don't know what was 'emo' about it. It was Kaira. Simple, straightforward. I politely informed him that, no, I don't ascribe to that clique. My names on FFXI: Telera, Caeryn, Aelyn, Namae, Aeria. All more or less 'tossed together' as you suggested be done. I kinda played around with groups of letters until I found one I enjoyed. Yes, i like the 'ae' sound. As I like 'iel' and a few others. It makes it easier to create names when you're writing books to find the letter-sets that make sounds you enjoy. After a while it gets real hard to make a name worth a piss. Especially one you like and can stand to type over and over throughout the course of the novel.

I have, however, had someone tell me that 'telera' is a spanish word for a pastry. I never got around to researching that. I wouldn't know, I have no interest in the language. I took French.

I can agree on your point about, like I said, the people with adjectives for names, though.

Why is it when I get a "bad" or "slow" party, i really have nothing better to do than to stay but when I get one of those kickass parties that just reel in the xp, I also have to leave for something in RL.
