  • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

It's not as easy as you might think. I definitely don't see everyone fighting the battle, and that also means I can't target them to check their HP. Joining a party would prevent this, but on the rare occasion I do campaign, I generally won't just team up with people I don't know.

No, it's not very hard to toss out a few cures, but sometimes it's very difficult to find someone who needs them. Even asking in /s for a cure might not mean I can get to you ... you might be out of range, or you might be so low in health that my cure won't even go off in time to save you. I do what I can, but it's never "enough" to some people and that leaves both parties frustrated. And these are some of the reasons I don't bother with campaign.

People asking for a raise can get annoying when they just give you their position and nothing else. Nine times out of ten I'm already in the same grid square as them on the map but I still cant find then because they won't describe exactly where their corpse is. Even a simply "North of the tower" or "behind the fence" is enough since at least I have a clue as to where to search

Bonus stress points if I keep running by the corpse 3 or 4 times because it hasn't loaded on my screen yet >.<

You can never do enough for some people, but they don't matter anyway. What matters is you're doing it right.

The issue with tanking in campaign always comes down to whether or not someone will cure you. It doesn't take much to blood tank as war/dnc and it only requires a few cures. Luckily I recognize enough of the people on the battlefields to realize that there are times I can do it and that person or the other won't let me die.

The one thing that really irritates me in campaign is when people who have hate on the NMs won't take them to the tower and die. Or, even worse try and fight them away from the NPCs.

Campaign can be really easy. Get a mob away from the tower and away from the line of approach. If you have a link, get away and maybe we'll split up.

Pulling is just picking the closest mob. It's hard when they're crowded, but a little bit of tabbing will show you which is closer. They don't link to mobs behind them or on the outside of the group.

Did SE adjust Campaign mobs in recent months? Because back when I was playing (What, 6 months ago?) I could easily tank them as PLD or RDM without any assistance*. And there's always lots of players from both jobs in Campaign.

*And for NM all I needed to do was get HP/MP drinks in some cases and that was it (except for that damn MNK NM that is.)

I dunno, I stopped doing Campaign. I never have time for it and I never really liked it in the first place.

A recent annoyance that has emerged for me is newer PLD's and NIN's who have either A) campaigned TOO much, or B) level synced TOO much, and now lack the skills at the higher levels to do their jobs appropriately. To top things off, I have been seeing said jobs doing campaign, with "{Party} {No thanks}" in their sea com.........just wtf is up with that? Seriously.......wtf??? Unless you play a damn good soloing job (BLM, BLU, PUP, BST) partying is one of the better ways to go 55+. I mean hell, as a 75PLD and NIN, i hate seeing idiots play the job without having the skills to back it up -.-

So true. Me trying to tank as WAR/SAM or WAR/NIN = death lol. I need to get DNC up to par so I can sub it and give it a try. What's funny is, most of my deaths don't come from melee, I die from AoEs alot, especially when the NMs are around and repeatedly doing them non-stop.

That's probably not referring to parties in campaign. I have that in my seacom too. What it means is "{Experience points} {party} {no thanks}". It's because of all the idiots who can't understand that there are people who don't want to be bugged with endless /tell requests for level sync and lolibri parties on the other side of the fucking planet. It's either that or go /anon, and I don't like to /anon. No you morons, my lack of /anon does not mean LFG. I don't care how bad you want a white mage. The reason my zone ends in _S is because I want to have FUN, not grind. And even when it doesn't end in _S, I'm usually trying to get something done.

I guess I could add {Experience points} to mine, but I worry that it would just make it tl;dr to the tards and then they wouldn't notice it. Then again, I haven't had a good "{/seacom} {please check it}" in a long time.

I just don't like the 6-man party camp play style. I like being part of a mobile zerg. And I don't like to be stuck in a group of people I don't know for two or three hours at a time. I like to be able to quit when I feel tired, before I fuck things up for others, and I don't want to be a tard having to look for a replacement by /telling to people who aren't LFG.

I also have a second line "{Aht Uhrgan} {area} {no thanks}". Because I think that place is ugly and I really don't want to stare at lawn ornaments for hours at a time.

I am 75 Dnc/Nin... I tank in campaign all the time. With Ni, Fan Dance, and Curing Waltz IV I am a God among men. I don't think it's my highest but I just got 4310 tanking mobs in Meriphitaud (S) this weekend. I know buddies who also tank and I see others all the time... in fact sometimes I have to battle for hate with tanks "taking" my pull... maybe it's different on other servers but Hades has Tanks. Course maybe many of them suk and don't understand what they can do/should do to hold hate. I laugh at people who fear campaign hate tho. You get xp for damage taken and xp for healing yourself and there's no xp loss (w/ tags). Quit being pansies or step aside and let the dude in ruffles show you how its done.

I have... I leveled Dnc/Thf in campaign to Snk Attk my Quicksteps to reduce the mob's Evasion to a hittable level cuz LFP at Lvl 44 was driving me mad. Yeah it was frustrating sometimes but when isn't SA a [bio]tch to land? Hard enough sometimes just in a exp pt. I agree - Besieged would really be a nightmare tho.

Totally ... I agree. Nobody should be chained by the duties associated with exp pts. Whinja FTW. I play solo in campaign mainly. I really really appreciate any helpful cures or hastes I happen to get but I never request em or expect em... I hope I get raised but I never brow-beat a person into helping me. My corpse might not have even popped onto their screen... they may be running for their life or saving others...maybe they don't like my avatar choice cuz it reminds em of some kid who took their lunch money... who knows? They don't have to help me if they don't wanna. And I'm not gonna hold it against em... until the campaign battle ends and they run across my corpse that has been lying at their feet for 15min.

This. This. This. There is not enough emphasis for this.

This is the entire motivation behind why I went Campaign only when I returned last. I hate sitting in one spot for hours. I hate being in a party for hours with the only commentary going by being timers or requests for voke/buffs. Even if you get a talkative group, the lastter part of this quote still applies. I like to quit if I get tired. And sometimes that's suddenly. I'm prone to migraines, they come on fast sometimes. And if it's late at night, (or any time of day sometimes) finding a rep is a pain in the ass. And half the time for my role (usually lolmainheal) there is no one LFG and I've got to pester those who aren't.

Not worth the time. The effort. The stress.

Oh, and I still can't quote on this forum now. I've got the site allowed under Noscript and have 'restarted' Firefox umpteen times in the weeks, it's still not working right. So if this posts 900 times... yeah.

I have the same problem. I'm not healthy and I can get sick very suddenly. I was gathering to do Promy's for my alt the other day and I suddenly got nauseous and threw up in my trashcan, broke out into a sweat so bad my shirt was soaked in a minute, and I was so dizzy I couldn't walk without assistance. So when I'm in a party, just how do I explain this without people going "ya riiiiight" or trash talking me? You can't. I just "d/c'd" and felt like an ass. When I was better, I logged in and explained it to a couple of the members that were my friends (the others were just pick ups). With Campaign, I don't have any of that grief. I don't have to pay attention if I don't want to, I can log when I want, I can multi task without fear of missing something, etc.

And Telera please let Ping know if you are still having that issue or if it is fixed for you in the bugs thread here:
