You're right, words do nothing. In-game I scan the consumables sections of the AH for new names like Ccqq, Ddqq, and Eeqq and report them to the GMs. I look for new fishbotters and report them to the GMs. Have I had much success in stopping RMT? No. But at least I have the satisfaction of knowing I'm not among the complacent fools who rely on the next person to do something about RMT.

You can report to the GM's all you want on gilsellers, but you have unsubstantiated evidence that they're gilsellers. So what? If I start going anonymous, take off my linkshell and camp castle oztroja for a couple of days, are you going to report me too? Unless you have concrete evidence (chat log, speed hack, whatever), you're wasting your time reporting a possibly innocent person to a game master. Moreover, while reporting gilsellers may reduce the number of gilsellers around, they will always come back under a new name.

Reason? I thought this was just a thread for people to vent a bit. For example...

My current pet peeve: "social" Linkshells which are mostly populated by players with multiple lvl 75 jobs. It seems like all they do is complain about why their current party sucks, why their way is clearly the best and anyone who disagrees is an idiot, and why job combo X is better than job combo Y.

I havent read through the numerous pages but last night 3 of us died in Palborough Mines hunting for the Kazam key, and there was noone about.

Along came a 75 PLD asking for 100k per raise.

Told him to stick it where the sun dont shine.

Well, yeah. I mean, when I get Raise I will do it for free, as I think it should be done.

I wouldnt have minded paying for that riase given the circumstances, a few K but to come right out and ask 100k? Must be off his rocker. We were only a lvl 25 party. Do they really expect us to have 100k each ready to give?

I should have let him raise me and then tell him to take a walk!!

That's the whole "Should Raise, Warp II, Teles..." be-free-or-not-can of worms again, which I might touch on slightly (hehem, hehem) - but asking for 100k is ridicilous; perhaps he just did it to wind you guys up and to be an a-hole.

Personal stance: if I am free, not doing anything else, and someone near me needs a Warp, Raise or a Tele, I never charge. Especially if it's someone I've partied with and absolutely never if they're in my LS.

If I'm in an area where someone needs a Raise - and even if I'm doing something, e.g. partying or helping someone else, I never charge for a Raise. I would charge for Warp II or Tele, because I don't think of those as essential services that I should have to drop everything for and run to the rescue.

On topic for the thread: pet hate is when someone has convinced you that it's a good idea for you to run half way across a zone/choco/airship yourself somewhere to Raise them... only to send a /tell "Sry! GotRaise!" about 1 minute before you get there.... it's been a while since I fell for that one...

So I'm in this party. This party, like most parties, has a tank. The tank is an acceptable job, a Paladin that subs Warrior.

Good so far, right?

This Paladin, subbing Warrior, has a race of Tarutaru.

This isn't a bad thing, really. The Paladin lives just fine, takes hits, Cures himself and others, had good gear, funny guy, doesn't die. Overall good Paladin, enjoyable experiences.

Time for me to go sleepy bed time, and the party leader seeks replacement.

My replacement arrives.

My replacement is a White Mage. It subs Black Mage.

Good so far, right?

This White Mage, subbing Black Mage, has a race of Galka.

... And the Tarutaru Paladin goes ballistic...

My pet peeve in life is hypocrites. In life, and in FFXI.

People should do what's not expected of them, it's their way of having fun, and if you're not there to have fun, why even play?

But a Tarutaru Paladin should never tell a Galka White Mage that it's a poor race/job combo.

Agreed, Sasaki. I've known exceptional players of both combinations. The numbers are against them in both instances, but they can definitely work, and work well despite them.

But honestly, yea. You will often find the unusual works better, because they have HAD to work at them a lot - Galka whm know the meaning of Conserve MP...
