    (Hmmm) even though we have all that info about Spikes' dmg and how Enhancing skill decreases resists there's not a single bit of info about how D. Tights change dmg calculation. But it makes sense you need to have them equiped to get the dmg increase, after all you need to cast spikes using Warlock's instead.

    I hope I can get them soon to test them properly.

      Shame on you all. Duelist's Tights are a fantastic piece for the 10 elemental skill alone, and you even if the spike boost is when wearing them you can idle in them. They may be a swap piece but the 10 skill is huge when nuking higher level stuff as part of a nuking accuracy set.

        Yep, the Elemental skill is nice, although I rarely nuke/sleep-nuke anymore.

          Still, I'd rather have the INT from my pants. I rarely ever get any resists and the INT boosts my damage. I have the AF1 hat, Merciful Cape, Elemental torque, and 3/8 Elemental merits so I find using pants > tights still to be a better choice for me. And I have tested that one, tried it on Brothers and did much more damage without the tights and didn't get a resist either time.

          If you don't have all the Elemental gear/merits I have though, then yeah, they would be great for nuking. I actually did forget about that stat. But in my particular case, they aren't too useful.

              They are part of my nuke-set, along with lots of other M.Acc, MAB, INT, and +skill gear. I still need to figure out which pieces actually improve my performance so that I get my nuking gear down solid. Right now, I'm mostly just confused about which order I should equip stuff in and how much of one 'thing' will trump another.

                My nuke set:

                Appropriate Ele Staff === Bugard Strap +1 === /// === Phantom Tathlum
                Wlk's Chapeau +1 === Elemental Torque === Abyssal Earring (replacing with Novio when it drops)=== Moldavite Earring
                Errant Hpl. === Zenith Mitts === Tamas Ring === Diamond Ring (should be getting Snow soon)
                Merciful Cape === Penitent's Rope === Jet Seraweels === Duelist's Boots

                It is essentially the exact same thing my boyfriend wears, with a few minor differences (doesn't have Abyssal, I think he uses Omega Ring where my Tamas is, etc.) And we do similar damage, except he's Elvaan so I have more natural INT than he does.

                I'd like to work on getting elemental grips and testing those with my nuking set. I do a lot of solo/duo with Sleep-Nuke so I've worked pretty hard on putting up a nuking set.

                My advice: go for Elemental Magic Skill, but don't go crazy with it. I hit 300 (wait a sec, that doesn't sound right ... I'll have to check that one lol) easily with gear/merits. After that, stack up MAB where you can, trust me it does a lot if you add enough of it, and then fill out the rest of your gear slots with INT.

                I'd go Elemental Torque > Ugly Pendant for the skill, maybe when I cap Elemental Magic merits I'd change to Ugly but for now this works best for me, and again, I'll have to test it out when I get to that point.

                    I keep 2 separate sets, 1 for things that can resist, and 1 for things that don't, same as debuffing. I will always, always, always recommend this as the way to go. I have 5 merits, 6 soon when I drop my 1 Singing merit.

                    Currently I use this:

                    Resists

                    Damage

                    I still see things that resist reasonably often enough to warrant the skill+ set, Nyzul Khim, T4 ZNM, Sea Jailers, Sky gods, etc. I'm hoping to finish /SCH soon for Sea.

                    And of course my new super-peeve: LS members who don't want to farm Zeni. Because it's of course exceedingly difficult to do.

                      • Re: What's your pet peeve in FFXI?

                        Shout-fests and morons whining about AH prices for endgame items that are ALWAYS expensive no matter what as why I always filter out shouts when entering WG. That and seeing this:

                        T1 <Lebros Cavern> 1/6 <Please Assist>

                        Well put in whatever staging point and rank you want. It's still the same really. It's even more annoying to see when the guy is being obnoxious or the guy is shouting is using a class that is completely unsuitable for the Assault Mission that they want to do. Don't these people have LS's they can do assault with?

                        Then there are the meleeburn morons who refuse to take anything other than a RDM as main healer and spend hours standing there shouting for one with though there is a bloody WHM in your level range standing right by you and seeking. heck that 's most likely the very reason why I haven't had a single invite on WHM60 since Lv52 and had to do 52-60 in campaign battle.

                        If I have to do 61-75 in Campaign I'm gonna scream. Especially since the WHM NPCs make it damn near impossible to get decent Cure exp with thier Cure IV spams. I usually have to go /SMN and spam buff BPs and even though I'm lucky to get over 200 a wave when the 58MNK I party with in CB gets well over 500 a wave.

                        Sorry about the extended rant but it's the reason whi I never go to WG anymore unless I have to or i get my hopes up and try to seek on WHM60.

                        EDIT: Speaking of campaign I'm getting sick of RDMs who do nothing but stand there and melee on stuff when people are dead around them. There is a THF, a WHM, 2 PLDs, a SMN/MNK, a SCH and a MNK who just took no less than 7 Raises. Who do you raise first? One passing RDM raised the MNk then ran off while the other 3 didn't do a thing. What is the point in raising an obviously AFK DD when there are 4 people with the ability to raise the other dead people and give you the precious hastes you send me /tells for laying there in need of one?

Since it's the weekend, we can't do anything about it. Now she's contemplating quitting the game because someone can falsely report you and get you suspended without the GM even listening to your side.

                            Wow I only got a warning for that when I got a GM call for MPKing bots in campaign. Although a sympathetic GM and the MPK looking like a genuine accident likely helped. Sorry to hear that happened to her, it really sucks that that happened. What makes it worse is that the User Agreement actually says that SE can suspend or delete your account without prior notice.

                            A similar thing did happen to me on XBox Live. I was temporarily banned from that for telling someone to "shut the f-ing hell up" when he did nothing but yell a bunch of racist stuff at me. Didn't get any sort of warning either. I was just banned for abusive behaviour. It happens on systems where the only form of moderation is basically some guy sitting on a computer who has to click through hundreds or reports a day.

                              It makes me wonder how many poor new players have been misled by similar people?
