Anyone can play their job right, but people who have the mentality that taru's can't play melee and galkas can't play mages have no business doing anything with me.

Mog is QFT. ...and you're probably better off not partying w/ people like that. They might be well skilled, geared, and play the job well or they might not be able to play the job right, have no gear/poor gear, and have *zero* skill. In the end, it doesn't matter, as they end up sucking all the fun out of a party. This is a game and should fit your version of fun. Personally, I'd /blist and move on.

I havent got that far in the game to see or experience any of that, but i have got a few peeves.

1. Ive spent the good part of one week looking for a party as 48 bluemage/Nin and not one invite. Not even enogh people in my level group to make a party. Has something happend so that people around the 46-50 people dont party any more? Over the past week i have seen at most 6-14 people online in that level range. I would solo but i am unsure of any places or how to get to them to solo. I am not very well informed of this game. I just go with what i see.

2. "lols galka mage (Too Weak)!!" *kicked from party*
Finaly managed ot get an invite after another 3 hours waiting. One of my mates gets a party and asks in a favor. I managed to get in and all is well. The setup was ok in my opinion.
SAM (friend) PLD (leader) THF RDM BLU (me) and a DNC. Party seems friendly and talkative. I gather my things and head towords Garlaige place (unsure of spelling)

As soon as i arive i get this in the party log.

pld: wtf?? galka blue mage?
thf: lol mp (Too Weak)!!
rdm: lol!!! Galka trying to be a taru!!! lol!!
sam: Galka can do just as good as any other mage. Just like any Taru can be great at melee.
dnc: Ive known some great galka whm's. They can hold their mp well.
pld: galka cant do mage they should stick to the mindless jobs like mnk same as taru being only mage taru melee suck!!
me: Have you even checked my gear? I have made up for the low mp easily.
pld: dont care galka sucks as mage stick to mnk noob

Me, the sam and the dnc are kicked for being "noobish"...

Now i was wearing full Galka RSE, electrum hairpin and electrum ring. I had about 350mp+ with also some spells equiped.

I do understand that galka arent realy built for mage, but come on give us a chance!! We work for the RSE/other mp enhancing stuff. We learn how to controll our mp the hardway. I personly have seen taru melee outdamage some good melee in a pt. I have seen galka mages out perform some taru mages. Why are people stuck in this stereotype?

TBH I used to be one of those people who thought Galka should not be a mage blah blah. But after 5-6 years that so changed me. Really to me it doesnt matter what race you are, or what job you are. The fact that they kicked you for wanting to play the game the way you like it. It has means to be called childish and they should be removed from the game for even acting that way. People who don't have an open mind playing an MMO of all things where you encounter different people with different likes/dislikes that you potentially have to work alongside and get along with to make things work, that alone gives reason to call them an idiot. Opinions are opinions yes but they should not be betrayed as fact, and no one should be punished for their difference in "opinion" with another person. Those kinds of losers should just stick to single player games.

Sorry for the semi rant.

One of the best PLDs I know is a Taru and the best SMNs, BLUs and RDMs I've partied with have all been Elvaan. Also, the best BRD I've partied with was a Mithra. Conversely the worst RDM I have ever seen was a Hume, I've seen some very poor Taru BLMs, Elvaan PLDs and Galka MNKs. The guy who posted the Skil > Gear > Race thing hit the nail on the head perfectly. Actually I'm fairly sure that my LS's token Galka has a fairly high mage job levelled.

The only time race ever makes a difference is at low levels when there is no decent gear available for any job and even then using the right food and knowing what you can and can't do as say a Taru WAR makes the biggest difference. That or when a Taru NIN shows up to tank. Don't get me wrong I know lots of good Taru NINs, it's just those guys get one shotted so often in exp parties it's scary. Especially cosidering that the vast majority of exp party mobs eat shadows for breakfast.

Getting dced in the middle of a merit party because my ISP died on me.

I don't think I was gone for more than 10 mins but by the time I was back everyone was gone. Then again whenever a BRD magically disconnects in the middle of a party chances are he/she isnt coming back.

Worst part is a rep went all the way from Whitegate to bird camp in bhaf<tab> and had just zoned when I dced. >_<

I hate when this happens.

I have a crappy Vista laptop that always kicks me out of POL wheverver I try to do a BCNM fight of any type if that counts. I'm usually the WHM too so while it makes no difference if we have a RDM in the party and Vista boots me from POL, things can get nasty if we're doing a 20-30 cap. It also boots me from cloisters (annoying), Beseiged (very annoying since I lose a ton of IS), prommies (extremely annoying because I still need them and it's impossible to find people who do on Kujata) and Campaign (no huge loss since thanks to the NPCs spamming Cure 4 and Raise 3, WHM can't do much else but spam Haste in Campaign anyway)

I hate playing FFXI on this laptop but it's the only way I can play while at college. I do have a 360 and PS3 but my 360 always makes a huge grinding noise followed by the loud sound of my disc getting a scratched so I don't want to risk any new game discs on it and as for the PS3 well good luck actually finding a PAL version of FFXI on the PS2 and even then it's impossible to play a PS2 game online on a PS3 simply because the PS3 won't let you install the network info for it on it's hard drive.

Oh, also, when we wipe at the end of Dynamis and I'm the only WHM that stays to raise people. What the fuck, lazy asses? I thought it was just a commonly known thing, if you can R3 after a run, you stick around and just do it.

Pissed me off, I wanted to leave, too, but I stayed and got people back up.

things that tick me off....

1. When there is only one tank my level, and the one tank my level is not looking for party or refuses a party invite.

2. When the one tank my level does except my invite, and then turns out to either be an asshole, or really sucks at his job!

3. When I am having Carby fight one mob, and I am fighting another mob, and someone decides to one shot the mob Carby is fighting while the mob's name is yellow. This really pisses me off.

4. People inviting a Power Level when I am being a Tank for a party. That is enough to instigate me to use "/blockaid on" just to allow me to continue to get skill ups.

5. well there are other things but I can't think of any at the moment.

Ditto that with blm's and warps. Had this one b***h (and I'd rather use the "c" word in describing her because thats how much I dislike her) that thought she was above everyone in the ls. When she was on blm in Dynamis (hell any event) she'd only warp the couple of people that kissed her a** and then warp out. Sometimes she didn't even do that. There were MANY times I'd have to manafont (if I could) and warp people out being the only blm there.
