A FFXI forum related pet peeve: people who add "-tab" to partial zone names. You probably see this mostly with people saying "Ul-tab" instead of "Uleguerand", or "Bos-tab" instead of "Bostaunieux".

Most recently, I saw someone post "Al-tab" when talking about Alzadaal Undersea Ruins. It's not terribly clever to do the whole "-tab" thing now. And "Alzadaal" is not terribly hard to spell or type. Heck, I wouldn't fault someone for misspelling it as "Alzadal".

My personal favorite? La tab.

Well Whinja is really fun when you get up to the level that you can actually play it. But getting Ninja to 37 was the worst part of this game, thus far.

WHM/NIN looks and sounds fun. It's just I'm not in the position to really level NIN largely due to costs and not having WAR levelled. I just sank 40k into suppllies (poison potions, ethers, Yag drinks, status meds, animas etc) for a Promy run in Holla (Party was WAR, WAR, RNG, WHM, RDM, SCH) yesterday which went pretty well until the WHM revealed that he didn't have any ethers on him right when me (SCH/BLM) and our RDM were running out of MP ourselves and Wreaker was down to 20% HP when it more or less spams TP moves. It caused one tank to die and the other WAR and the RNG to both 2hr early and send hate pretty much everywhere. That now puts me at 0-6 on Promy Holla. Next time we're bringing a SMN and maybe a BLU

And to stay on topic: As a mage I'm going to have to add bombs in besieged. I think it's why I never go on Halvung besieged fights any more. Every time I cast you can guarantee that one bomb is going to pop behind me and explode. One recent beseiged was pretty memorable because a ton of mages were warped to the BLM Serpant General whose area usually fills completely with bombs right away. Lost of bombs and lots of mages all standing in one big group....Well you can probably work out the rest.

Also being spawned right next to General Rughadjeen as a WHM when there is no melee class in the group or being warped to a completely different area than the rest of your party for obvious reasons.

Although the Level 5 Mamool Ja Mega Boss did manage the set the biggest non critical hit against me so far. The thing walked up behind me and I wondered why my screen was shaking. Seconds later my poor little WHM too 800 damage while running and did that funny skid across the ground thing. I had Stoneskin up too and I know it currently blocks at least 90-100 damage so the hit was most probably for about 900+.

I'm actually having quite a lot of fun on ninja; the only reason I've stopped is because I really need an Empress/Emperor Hairpin and capped throwing before I take it any higher. There's a certain satisfaction to watching the mob swing aimlessly at you and timing your cast to get your shadows back up while you have the mobs attention.

The only thing stopping nin tanking being as much fun as war tanking is that nin doesn't get a weapon that eclipses the sun and actually harms things you swing it at.

Personally Saren I just hated it because of idiots. They want to bitch at me for not holding hate, then don't fucking WS right when the mob gets back to camp! If you want to WS that early, don'f frigging bitch if you're tanking now, because everything I've got in my bag can't get hate off a SAM or a DRK that pull hate too early.

Total inability to hold hate is why i dislike inviting NINs to tank before about Lv37. That and MNK mandies and Double Attack spamming Gobbie Smithies in the Jungles make Utusemi more or less useless. WAR/NIN with a Great Axe and PLD/War both have the ability to hold hate better than NIN at those levels. I've seen PUP/WAR with a Mage Auto also tanks very well pre-37 when paired with a WAR/NIN.

All I can say is that unless you have a cooperative THF in the party prepare to have people complain to you a lot about hate issues before you get Tier 2 Elemental Wheel Spells

Seriously. How many fucking times do I need to ding 54 before I can fucking keep it, SE? How the hell does something aggro from beyond the 15 sight aggro range? I use distance plugin when leveling BLM for a reason - so shit like this doesn't happen. And yet, I'm happy as a clam casting Quake on a pet when his master come up and smacks me with no warning whatsoever, and with me not even worrying about it because when I started casting he was outside of sight aggro range. By a fucking mile. Cast range is 20.8 and aggro is 15. How is this being messed up?

I also love how when I'm casting a long ass spell and I'm getting hit, I don't get interrupted until it's too late for me to cast something else anyway! What the hell is that? If I get hit, it should interrupt fucking right away not twenty minutes later so MAYBE, just MAYBE I could get a sleepga off to save my ass. Why do I have to wait until 65% when the spell would have gone off to be able to do anything to survive? That's NOT FAIR DAMNIT.

BLM is SE's cruel joke. FUCK YOU SE, FUCK YOU IN THE TAINT. I am sick of this bullshit.

(I should mention that I actually do like BLM and I want to level it. But how the hell do glitches and other related BS keep happening to me? DCing in the middle of casting, getting random aggro that I shouldn't have, two resists on ONE MOB? I swear Altana hates me.)

Please pardon my anger, but god damn it, I'm tired of this fucking crap ALWAYS happening to me when I level BLM. BLM is my frigging bad luck job and it sucks because I actually freaking enjoy it when I'm not getting shit luck.

I never had any problems holding hate as NIN. Load up on Attack and fight fire with fire. If the DDs WS at the beginning of the fight, then I do too. Sadly, most people in this game suck at their jobs. If every WHM I invited used Flash, every NIN bothered to boost their offense, every WAR used Shield Break up 'til at least 54, and every PLD learned that VIT isn't anywhere near being the end-all stat, EXP would flow twice as fast. As for the Goblin Smithy thing, you've clearly never had two WAR/NINs or NIN/WARs duo tanking. It's downright unfair, especially if you slap on some Shield Break in there.

My pet peeve? Already listed them (WHMs that don't Flash, VIT-whore PLDs, Full Eva NINs, no-Shield Break WARs.)

Yeah, I had a lot of fun taking nin to 37. Shuriken are for enmity at low levels. Maybe I just had gimp DD but I actually had the opposite problem of my frontliners not being able to voke the mob off me if I got in trouble.

Obviously you can't block every attack with ichi alone, but even against mandies who attack 16 times in 30 seconds, blocking 3 of those hits outright is ~19% damage reduction—far from "useless." That's probably a lot better than paladins are doing with their round shields at that level, and your superior evasion compensates for the gap in your defense stat.

You just can't expect a job to play the same way at level 30 as it does at 75. I guess that'd be my pet peeve.

I tanked as NIN again this weekend for the first time in months this weekend and just blew at it. I'm so used to tanking on PLD now that I kept looking for hate tools like Flash that weren't there. Of course once I started to get into a flow again I had to leave for an ls event. >.>

Back when I was leveling ninja just to have for a subjob, I gimped my way to 37. lol. I dual-boxed myself and the only spell I had was utsusemi: ichi. <.>

Now, I'm a lot more serious about it. Leveling ninja is very rewarding, especially as a tarutaru. And what's even sweeter is having better gear than most ninjas at my level. >:D

The only pet peeve with that is spiders and sickle slash. -.-

bring some simple rng acc gear and its like spamming 100 damage
iirc the lowest level ones are availible @ tenshodo so they aren't too costly
