I agree. If you're really concerned about getting random tells to party, then go /anon.

I have had some great parties when having asked people that aren't seeking. Naturally I ask the seeking ones first, and if no cigar then I move onto those that aren't seeking if I am looking for a particular job.

Every now and then I get a tell asking to join and if I'm not doing anything else, I think what the hell and go along. So It's not always the case, to the original poster. But if it really gets on your nerves, say {Party} {no thanks} in your comment, or just go /anon.

I agree. If you're really concerned about getting random tells to party, then go /anon.

Sometimes the person that is not seeking and then agrees to party with you does so on a whim, and only realises that yes, they would like to party, when you send them a tell. Happens to me sometimes. And as for the people asking the people that aren't seeking, if i have 5/6 and need a healer, and theres no one seeking.... I would rather send a polite tell to the healers in my level range then disband a perfectly good party before it starts.

But as for your comment about that is why the function is there, I say the same about search comments. I feel that many people simply don't understand how to write, as it really isn't difficult to write your TNL in your comment.

It only REALLY bugs me to be asked to party when I'm not seeking if:

1) They ask more than twice;
2) I'm already partied, you morons! And no, I'm not apologizing for chewing you out for being too desperate to pay attention to name colors!

On the other end, it also quite annoys me if someone sends me a /tell asking to join the party I'm leading. Which is always assumed to be an XP party, when it's usually not. One time this even happened to me when I teletaxied a friend to Altepa, from someone looking for a 30s party. And my WHM was in the 60s. And then they wonder why I'm such a "jerk" that I annoyedly lecture them on proper seeker etiquette when I do that? -- Pteryx

Yeah, to be honest even though getting tells out of the blue when I'm busy irritates me, they have no way of knowing if I'm busy busy, or just have enough to do that I don't want to go through the trouble of going LFG and then having to stay ready to go on a moment's notice constantly and never change jobs. I've considered using search comments instead of going /anon when this happens, but so many people abjectly ignore search comments that I generally just go with what I know will work. I do use search comments when seeking, but I can't remember the last time a party leader actually said anything to indicate they'd read my comments (and when I'm seeking together with someone, we end up commonly getting invites for just one of us despite our comments saying not to bother.

On the bright side, around half of the people I explicitly turn down invites from accept it gracefully and thank me for responding, at least. The really annoying ones are the ones who think they're doing you a favor and you're being ungrateful not wanting to run off to their party. (I've been chewed out by party leaders for turning down invites from them while seeking because they obviously had no idea what they were doing, including one yelling at me that if I wasn't going to take their invite I had no business having my flag up.)

2. They have a search con set for the job they wish to level

I'm not sure what I'd term this, but it's a huge pet peeve. Has been for a while. But it just happened a few minutes ago to remind me.

Lower level player announces in /L that he'd like to do a couple of BCNMs for gil. Asks if anyone would like to team up to tackle a few. A few people respond positively. Random other guy sees that people are getting a BC group together, and commandeers it, leaving out the guy who originally asked about it because he's too low for the BC random other guy wants to do.

That's just dickish.

Lyonheart's pet peeve #873: When someone complains about having bought a Haubergeon (or any other expensive item) 3 years ago, and how they would be sitting pretty on a mountain of gil right now if they had simply not spent anything at all in the past 3 years.

What's the point in having gil if you don't use it? If you could have survived 3 years without spending gil, why start now? Just go another 3 years without spending any gil. And stop complaining about deflation reducing the "value" of stuff you bought 3 years ago.

When I got out to where the farmers are farming to collect thier goods and they have the audacity to try and jack me. I say Ill take those for 5k each or 60k a stack then I go to bazaar and the stack says 60k but its really just singles for 60k. I never fall for it but it happens so often I doubt its a fluke. Oh well it doesnt really matter, just kinda annoying.
