I'm sorry I didn't realize that there were specific ways I had to play the game. I will make sure to tell all the other RDM/WAR that they are doing it wrong too. Seriously, I have no idea why you get thanked so much...if I wanted help I would ask for their opinion. However unsolicited ingame tells saying you should sub BLM or WHM are not welcome and need not apply!

Protip: This is a public forum. If you post anything here, anyone has the right to comment on it. If you have a problem with that, then leave.

Most users read posts via the "New Posts" link. So every time you post something, someone will see it. And since your posts are so unlike anything else we see here, they are hard to ignore.

This community is generally very friendly, helpful and welcoming. You don't fit in. Either start fitting in, or leave.

Simple solution on RDM:

If you are soloing and using a sub that others do not consider "conventional" just go /anon. No one bothers you, end of story. I solo all the time on RDM/DRK and because I don't want to be bothered with, "OMG is that your sub?!?" and "Party - Do you need it?" I happily play /anon till I'm blue in the face.

People are going to express their opinions because for most, RDM/WAR is gimp. It really brings nothing to the table in most party situations, and while any idiot can see that you're soloing, if you're low in level people are going to feel inclined to help you, whether you want it or not. I'll admit, I used to go RDM/WAR until about 30, when I realized I was horribly gimping myself and my party.

Now, if you're coming RDM/WAR to a party, you deserve ridicule. Even though it's okay at low levels for RDMs to melee, that doesn't mean you should be neglecting the fact that you're a Red Mage. RDMs have a relatively small MP pool as far as mage jobs go, and not using a mage sub makes it even smaller. In addition. those extra spells and traits that you get with /BLM and /WHM are very freaking useful!

But really, if you play something unconventional like RDM/WAR - even while soloing - and you know that it's not the norm, you should be prepared to listen to people who want to give you shit. Like I said, go /anon and no one will bother you.

Another pet peeve I recently discovered is when people reply to a post and all that it amounts to is...yeah what that guy said....

C'mon people please go read other questions that haven't been answered and actually contribute useful information. Or post something that actually says something other than what has already been posted.

I'm new to the forums, and found this thread very intriguing. Spent the last two weeks during my "not busy" time at work reading through it (yes, every last page...). So, here's my list currently (some have been mentioned before):

1. Elitists. I'm all for doing a job and doing it well. However, being told that you are gimp because you don't have "X" item is really ridiculous (assuming it's not a standard item, such as Dark Staff etc). So my RDM doesn't have Sea cape or Ultima pants yet....I can still enfeeble well enough for what I do. I don't do endgame things on RDM if I can't enfeeble it, I leave that to others.

2. People who think they're better than everyone else, regardless of what they do/don't do. So you can do huge amounts of dmg....that's awesome! So you can get tons of xp in a short amount of time....great! That still doesn't make you better than me, just different.

3. Having friends that insist upon telling you EVERY SINGLE time they increase a skill lvl on something. Congratulations that you just got 0.3 shield skill. Tell me when you hit 200 and I'll send you a cookie.

4. My ultimate pet peeve about FFXI: Losing friends! I mean losing them to RL, other games, etc. I don't mean just temporarily either, I mean they quit the game and you never see them again. I've met some really incredible players and some damn good people over my years on FFXI, and when one of them decides they are quitting, it really bothers me; I suppose just for the fact that I feel sorry for myself that I won't get to see them/spend time with them anymore. Thinking of the friends that I have lost over the years is the only thing (to date) that ever makes me want to leave this game.

I'm sure there's more, but the last 170 pages have fried my brain.

I was severely tempted to show up to party as RDM/WAR in Dunes and Qufim levels.

Some of the tanks I've had back then... Yeesh! Getting smacked for casting Paralyze. Then getting smacked again for casting Dia. Urggggg! Not to mention I had better RDM wearable defense gears on mules than what they wear in the Dunes on WAR 90% of the time... (Lv.7 Leather set on WAR17? Why?!)

People in partys that go AFK without saying anything, so when the mob mobes you just see this MNK standing in that same spot, after about 30 seconds they look back at their screen after taking their eyes off their PSP "oops yeah", WS at 100TP, back to super mario punchout!

I had the worst luck with pulling in CN today. No matter HOW HARD I TRIED, I always got a link in my last party. I dunno what happened. On the last pull i managed to get three links, and I only saw one crawler when I launched an arrow at it, and when I got to camp, I had three attacking me. I still cant figure out how that happened.

I'm almost tempted to quit the game now, 'cause a level 75 came to PL us and left after saying "Just because I came here doesnt mean you guys cna be idiots" and the person that she came with didnt say anything before leaving. My friend has assured me that they wont remember it and that "It's only level 37", but damn if it doesnt feel like I wont be getting a party with any of those people ever again. Hopefully they werent in to prominant a LS and have not spread my name as a bad player, 'cause usually I'm pretty good. ._.
