So your Red Mage leader is a Mithra, then? No wonder you're always going as RDM/THF.

Totally random, but thanks for making me look up the word "titter"--made me snicker.

My pet peeve for XI right now is the damn community. To be more precise, people are not willing to take time out of their own busy schedule to help people with story missions. Right now I'm pissed to no end that it's hard for me to get to sea because 99.9% of the XI community already has sea access and are not willing to help other people get to sea. I'm usually shouting for help for the three paths and within a few hours I will still be 1/6.

Peeve of the day: that special brand of internet machismo.

<Somedude> These guys don't know who they're messing with.
<Somedude> They never should have screwed with me.

It'd be kind of humorous if he didn't mean it. But I think he did, so it's hilarious, because it's so horribly depressing.

There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

This is not a flame, but during those few hours, did you see shouts for other people's missions? Did you answer any? Took the time, and joined up with those who seem to be stuck at 1/6?

If you did see those shouts, but didn't volunteer yourself, you should be more understanding of why busy people don't want to undertake mission fights (which they no longer need) with strangers, and why they'd be even more reluctant if the person in-need doesn't have all of tank-healer-support ready.

If you did, then I commend you; that's more than I would've done. Pickup groups for missions is not worth the aggravation to me, even when I need the missions myself.

Personally, I rarely have trouble getting help with anything within my LS. One reason is because I've spent a lot of my time and energy helping LS members with various things, including Sea access, so people are very willing to lend a hand when I need assistance. (The other reason is that we have an overpopulation of nice people. lol.)

If you have trouble getting help with CoP, perhaps the best thing to do is to help out others stuck on earlier CoP missions. Who knows? You may be able to form a static party from the people you meet while helping out.

Man... It's like... I don't mind temporarily taking over party lead to invite someone while you AFK if I know who that person is, and have a reasonable expectation they understand the situation, too.

But going afk for forty minutes to eat is not "a few minutes." And saddling me with finding a 6th, while your mythical 5th member, whose name I don't know, is left in limbo? Not cool. :/

When you are on your chocobo, and want to go AFK. So you set yourself on autorun, go do whatever, and come back to find yourself 10 feet from where you started, stuck on the one skinny little tree in the zone.

Finished Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex The Lost Memory last night.
Today, started Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence After the Long Goodbye.
Still, it sucks not actually doing anything in game, even if I do enjoy a good book.

Ever read any of Terry Brook's books? He's one of my favorite authors, writes fantasy-style books similar to FFXI's storyline.

In a funny coincidence, I ended up as WHM/THF in Dyna-Windy ... I did a bit of farming and went to Windy, then forgot to change back. Every now and then I would SA the mob when I wasn't busy. Mind you, that really didn't happen much...

I'm not sure I would qualify those as good books. But hey, you're reading.

Well they aren't epic or timeless classics like reading Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, or any Star Trek novels, but they are enjoyable read. At the same time, reminds me of the very long and detailed manga with the same name by Shirow Masamune.

Honestly though, ignoring text books, reading assignments, this has been the first time I've actually read a novel, for fun, and enjoyed it since sophmore year in high school.

Edit; Well unless you don't count read/play Tsukihime as a novel.

To both, enjoying after so long, is like your first time touching any final fantasy game.
