Another peeve: Mages past 51 who don't have staves. A wand is good, but that extra elemental accuracy (and the cure potency + of light, and the hMP of dark) really is worth the gil. Stop freaking leveling and go farm!

Yeah, seriously. I don't see any reason why a player in the 50s can't have at least an NQ Light Staff + NQ Dark Staff. Getting Rank 6 will cover most of the cost given today's prices. I still see a lot of people offering to pay 2k for Teleports, which is like what people were offering at the height of inflation. So even those "I can't farm my way out of a paper bag" WHMs should be able to raise enough gil for a couple of NQ staffs.

Is TParty a big shock to people? I had thought it was kinda standard that most had or at least knew about it.

I know about it, don't use it though. After the first 2-3 fights it's pretty easy to get guesstimate the other party member's TP gain rate and so I normally save my TP and close the WS since I can be a little flexible with my TP as drg/sam, and also if I manage my stuff right I normally am not sitting on more than 130% TP.

I'd rather have some shiny SC than soloing my WS all the time, especially if I have a good smn or rdm who feels like some magic bursting or additional SCing goodness.

I had mentioned to the SAM I could see his TP and would close a skill chain whenever I had TP.

He just looked at me and said I'm a newb, you can't see my TP. I certainly wasn't trying to encourage him to use it, just had mentioned it in passing so that the rdm would know what to MB if we happened to skillchain.

I like to close skillchains when I can; but the group I had the other night I'd have 300 before they could figure out what they're doing. Times like those I just say screw it and burn mine, if they happen to randomly ws before or after me and makes something, great; otherwise, not overly concerned with it.

Most of my pet peeve the past few days has been about that Sam. He seems to be invited to every party I'm in. I did get a kick out of having a gear discussion with him. Before we had left town in the first party I was in with him, he felt the need to inform me that my gear was gimp. I was wearing what's in my avatar. Surely you wouldn't think someone would exp in that...at least I hope so. Of course I had to recipricate the favor in his actual gimp gear.

Okay, most of you know that I'm working on my WHM. I'm at 64 right now, and fairly close to 65 (which I should be able to finish up when I get home tonight).

That being said, I've been tracking the price of things such as scrolls and gear, and most notably the Noble's Tunic, on ffxiah.com.

So as you might imagine, this brings me to a new peeve:

What the fuck? There are 4 tunics on the AH right now. Why would you bid that much? Are they all set up at this incredibly high price?

To be fair, I check the price of HQ, and the HQ is sitting at 3.1 mil right now, and there are 3 of them on the AH.

Perhaps this person messed up, and attempted to bid low for the HQ but actually ended up purchasing NQ. Maybe.

If that's not the case, though, why would you spend that much? It will drive the price up, will it not?

Now forgive me if the price does, indeed, recover, and the lucky seller is about 3x richer than he expected to be. But I look at payments like that and I groan. That's an incredible amount of inflation.

It probably was a mistake. Hell, I hope for my sake it was (though it sucks to be the buyer) but if it wasn't, and this is where prices are going ... god help me. I might as well quit WHM now.

Incidentally, everything else I've ever purchased in this game (and might one day sell) has gone down in price. Things I need go up, things I don't go down. Seriously WTF.

It probably was just a mis-bid. Unless everyone else is willing to pay that kind of inflated price, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I like to find items that a new player would be putting on auction for 100-300 gil (assuming that most long-time/rich players don't usually waste their time with that) and bid like 10K. Its an easter egg they will never forget. :-)

I remember what it's like to be broke. In fact, I was broke this morning. had 800gil to my name before I outpost warped.

So yeah, being broke isn't that far out of my realm of encounters, even though I've been playing since PS2 release. If I see a newbie that is inquisitive, cares about their job and is thirsty for being good, then I'll give them 10k because that can go a LONG way, possibly all the way into Jeuno.

i had a party vs trolls once, iirc setup was: thf(me), nin, mnk, whm, cor, and sam
this was pre 8/27 if that matters
now the cor was pulling/buffing/some extra damage (like they normally would)
the whm healed omg
the nin tanked (quite well, he sent me a friend request after the party too, which was cool)
i was lolthf
mnk i think had damn near full merits cause he was raping everything as they usually do
and a sam/thf
i really don't like people doing /thf unless it's for events, berserk just seems too sexy, or if you need to /nin for utsu etc
i kept gaining tp and doing WSs when the mobs had about 30% HP left, thats just the way i was gaining tp, it was almost always 1 min of TPing or so and by then it would be @30ish (did I word that ok?)
The sam had good gear + merits, but in a stupid attempt to show off ecock damage, he kept waiting for me to WS so he could attempt to mirror it (out of the entire pt of him following me only one mirrored) im sure he was out gaining me in TP, but he was holding himself back in a silly way
i understand only thfs have assassin btw, but he had a SATAWS macro which pissed me off too, since he was wasting a free crit with TA, i mean if you're gonna use the crappy sub, use it as best as possible
The SATAWS macro also said the following, which was funny the first time, and got very old very fast

I partied with a SAM last week who spent most of his downtime wearing a Yukata. When he dinged during the pt, he even put it back on to celebrate, I guess. Strange thing was that he kept it on for several fights. I thought maybe he was making a passive-aggressive comment at my tanking (NIN with no THF, and the party was overhunting on AoE spamming hornflies). When I finally asked him about it in /p, he was like, "How did that happen?" Apparently, he didn't notice that he was still wearing the Yukata.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was playing in FPV.

I acutally did wear mine once a bit into the party, but I was on bard and no one's going to question a bard's gear. I asked after about 20 minutes why no one said anything about me wearing an egg helm and Yukata with my taru trunks and they said "we were afraid you'd leave".

Bards really do have it easy...damn bards.

It could have been this guy doing something like, "/em examines you." and then putting that in /say to piss off a wide range of people. People do that sometimes just to be assholes.

Regardless, he's an asshole, so I guess it really doesn't matter.
