The party should find a replacement, they're the ones staying. They're the ones that have to play with the guy.

      I agree with BP.

Unless you let the party know that you only had an hour or so left while the rest of us had at least double, and we're in a remote location like Cape Terrigan or Gustav Tunnel.

In fact, if I know I have limited time, I'll be looking for a replacement the entire duration, and if my time gets cut short by 15 minutes because they arrive early, then hurray for me.

This is the way I feel about it as well. Otherwise, you end up with some random in the party.

Usually I'll ask the leader what he wants me to do first, in /tell. Sometimes the leader is considering disbanding or someone else has to leave, and the entire party is going to split.

It really would suck to be someone's replacement, get all the way to camp, only to find that the rest of the party wasn't planning to go on for much longer. At least if I'm the one being replaced, I can ask the leader what his intentions are before I inconvenience someone.

Sometimes, (lucky me!) the leader even offers to find the replacement for me. ^_^

Yeah, I think so too. When I get stuck being pt leader, I want at least some control over the rep. People mourn the death of SC parties, yet they expect DDs to replace themselves. When a DD find a rep for themselves, how it affects the party's SC is the last thing they're worrying about.

I warn the party long before I have to leave; 45 minutes is the minimum, and I usually pipe up an hour before, or earlier. I never put up seek flag unless I have at least three and half hours, and will take down flag if I have less than three, so it's not like five fights into partying and I announce I have to go. Yet, people sometime still complain when I do leave. /sigh

Usually, I find partying requires too much of my attention to be able to find a replacement, and I tell the party that. (I've always marveled at those who are able to watch a movie and party at the same time.) Plus, I feel very uneasy about inviting replacement if I don't think the party would last for long time, or if I think the party isn't functional well...

I completely understand where she's coming from, too. I hate being a RDM/WHM in meripo as much as she hates being a BRD. We don't get chain 7058, but we have a lot more fun getting xp/merits in the long run, and the people in my LS are (thankfully) understanding of that and we all take what we can get.

I've never seen higher than chain 7. And I couldn't care less.

                Aksannyi, I love you.

I am much like the person you describe: I hate being in meritpos now because I'm expected to hit chain15+ every time. My highest chain has been 8, and I think it was because I was very lucky on not having other parties pulling the same thing.

It's because of that (and that I don't have any linkshell to speak of) that I hate people and will not level bard to 75. If I want to get it to 75, I'll solo crabs in Kuftal for my last 26k.

Asking the busiest jobs in the PT (BRD, RDM and COR, and sorry, this isn't up for debate) to find their own replacement is semi-ridiculous. However, if a RDM, BRD or COR only has an hour to PT, they honestly have no business being in that PT in the first place, that just makes replacing them a hassle.

I'm really sick and tired of people joining merit PTs for "event buffers." You have an event? You have work? Then spend that hour prior preparing for those things instead, don't seek a PT. I don't give a damn if you delevel and lose all your nifty merits and can't wear your pretty things. I don't want to be held up just because you had to go to work, either. If I know I have work in two hours, I don't seek PT.

Things like kids, RL emergencies and the house being on fire I understand. In-game events I absolutely have no sympathy in regards to. Buffer on your own time, not briefly before events.

Or heck, group up with some people going to the same event if you absolutely feel that you have to get a few exp before then. That way you're not inconveniencing anyone else when you have to go.

But generally, yeah. There are better ways to spend your time right before an event.

I like how you lump LS event together with family emergency. Those two things are worlds apart.

No, not really. The people in my LS(most of them) are close enough that I might regard them as family, and so in my mind get priority, or certainly more priority than some random virtual interaction.

                        But I digress.

Whether I was in the party three hours before I had to go, or one hour before, it makes little difference. Nor does it make any difference what reason I have to leave, because I still have to leave, and nothing changes that.

Ok, new topic: Getting an invite to a party that does 900 xp/hr on PUP. I'm almost certain I can solo faster than that.

And, while I'm thinking about it, seeing that the smartest person in said party only speaks Japanese. I really want to learn Japanese now, but I doubt I have the patience (or memory) for it.

Thunderstorms that d/c me during an extremely long cutscene, and having to watch the entire damn thing again to finish it.

                            I know that acts of nature aren't really a game peeve, per se, but I had watched 10 minutes of that CS and had to watch it again. ; ;

Its hard, espically trying to remember katana or looking at kanji D:
Best advice I can give, listen to dub and skim subtiles for a week+, look online for japanese basics and emoticons and hope it'll come to you randomly to pick up a guess of what they're saying.

You never know, that person could have just seemed smart because you didn't know what they were saying.
