Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

I'm pretty sure it's usually whms avoiding raise and teleport /tells.

I usually go anon when my subjob is lower than it can be and I need to train it, so I keep anon until I get to Windurst >> moghouse and swich =P

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

Yesterday I contemplated going /anon as a PLD in Konschtat. I was geared in full attack gear, and leveling my great sword (Sword is capped right now, so I figured I may as well level a weapon that wasn't), so I wasn't really in any position to serve as a tank. I said "I'm Sorry, I'm Playing Solo Right Now" in my search comments, but no one read them. There weren't a lot of tanks looking, so I got more than my fair share of ; ; and [/cry].

      This was my favorite conversation.

My poor husband has been /anon since he came back to the game after 6 months away. His main is 44PLD, but when he quit, he got rid of all his gear. When he restarted he had, like, his AF sword and a Yukata... which wouldn't serve a tank very well, I think ;D

THe whole idea of seeking for party and being anon is just ridiculous. No sense in that, but most people I see anon are doing stuff solo or are on a crafting session. Most of the time those folks got jobs that are highly sought after too.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

As a WHM I find myself /anon most of the time. There was one memorable occasion where I had just finished levelling BLM, changed jobs back and started typing /anon and got a party invite.

I guess I was lucky that time. Usually it's for teleports - I have a feeling I'll start getting a LOT more 'raise me please' tells when I hit 56.

As for other jobs - PLD and NIN get harrassed a whole lot due to the tank shortage we seem to be experiencing on Midgard. You can have a whole party built -- there'll be 3 RDM seeking and no tanks, and this is post-41.

Sometimes its a built in reaction for me when i play paladin. /anon is much easier this

              >Partylaeder1-(party) ?
<Me-(Im Sorry Im Playing Solo right now)
              wait ten seconds,
              >Partyleader2- party?
              >Me-No thank you, im farming for my level 50 equipment right now.

and it goes on and on, unless im /anon

It seems like somedays theres a shortage of tanks on Valefor, others theres too many.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

I'm almost always anon when I play my taru whm, except when I'm seeking party/ or in a party. I just don't like telling people "No, sorry, I'm busy" 50 million times. But even when I'm on anon, people still ask me for tele's, guess it's due to me having my WHM AF hammer equipped.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

I normally play on my 75 Thief, where it can take hours upon hours to get parties. The catch? I also have a 68 RDM that I use to do Metal Gear Solid stuff with my friends. I've learned to force myself to go /anon when I switch to RDM because otherwise, I'll get tell-after-tell of "please join us" and whatnot. If I don't go anon, I'm forced to put a search comment up saying something along the lines of "NOPT" or whatnot.

It's not that I want to be rude, but... I just really, really don't like to party, especially on RDM. Anon is like the last bastion of hope for when I want to relax.

                    When I'm WHM, I'm always /anon unless I'm LFG.
I'm tired to strangers asking me for tele and raise.
If I don't get those tells, then I would not to /anon...

                    When I'm BST, I never go /anon.
No stranger ever gives me /tell.

You do know that you don't have to have a flag up to get invited to a party, right?

It makes it easier if they're physically close to you, since it puts that Invite option in the menu when they target you.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

Why do I go anon? Well, quick rundown. Before level 50, I only got /tells for parties, and those were usually only a few a day, and not an annoyance if I wasn't in a party mood.

Then, suddenly, after I hit 50, not half an hour after I've logged in, I usually get at least a tell or two about Promys. In one day I believe I got six... not to mention all the sudden influx of party requests. I've even started picking up a few /tells for higher CoP missions, even though I've not done the promys myself yet. Reason why I've turned down the tells: Not ready to go on those. My LS does runs and I'd rather get them done and over with with them.

I don't want a party unless I have my flag up because I don't like exp'ing unless I have at least 5+ hours to spend on it, and mostly when I'm on that's not the case. I'm either crafting/helping other people or just kind of hanging out with the LS for a hour or so before work/sleep. So for the most part, I stay /anon these days. Unless I'm out being a Raise angel in the dunes. Then I leave it off for the pt leaders to find me.

I guess I just never invite that way. I always /sea all whomever and then invite. It's faster (for me).
