Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

I don't go /anon that often. I rarely merit/exp on RDM and all it usually takes to stop the flow of invites is to leave Whitegate/Al Zabi. On SMN I only get invites for Avatar/Fenrir fights and occationally KS30 Contaminated Collisium by someone lvling MNK wanting a M. Vine or a WHM wanting a Morgenstiern.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

well here's the thing. I don't avoid something until it annoys me.

PT with my WHM, got tell for raise a few times, i'll go /anon out of annoyance.
PT with my BLM, got tell for warp 2 a few times and i'll go /anon out of annoyance too.

I feel bad when I say no. And when I say yes to these requests I'm slowing down my whole PT

Same thing when I get couple bad english parties back to back. I'll set my comments to JP only for the rest of the day...

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

I use my search comments liberally. If I'm doing something alone, or with some LS members, I put that I'm busy in my comment. Not a lot of people read it, of course, but even if they don't, I can just point to it and absolve myself of any guilt for not rushing to their aid.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

People don't pay attention to search comments. I swear it's true.

There have been days when I've gotten so many teleport requests when I'm busy that I'll put:

          Teleport request = /blist

...in my search comment, and I'll still have 3 people ask me for a teleport in every zone I wander through... Qufim... Altepa... Yuhtunga Jungle (seriously wtf?). And yes, I have blacklisted people for ignoring my search comment when I'm in those moods.

Oh absolutely. Even party leaders rarely bother to read them. "Hey what's your TNL? What can you sub?"

Still, I feel better for having it there, and that's all that matters to me.

Re: Why would you want to be /anon?

If I'm /anon with my /invite flag up, it's usually to make myself easier to invite for a teleport or some other kind of prearranged party that doesn't involve experience.

Not really the same thing, but I had a friend who would go AFK while LFG on his RDM and BRD. Like, for hours. He'd go to work or to sleep or something. His comment would say where he was, but he still recieved a ton of tells for parties.

They usually don't read your comment until after you don't reply.

I've gone AFK on WHM, not LFG, and with /anon off before.

                  My search commet = other.

I got 5 tells to party. Most of the /tells went like this.

                  Leader>> {Hello!} {Party} @ {Mamool Ja Staging Point}?
Leader>> @ 5 WAR WAR WAR WAR BRD, need WHM.
                  A few lines later....
                  Leader>> YOU THERE?!?!!?
                  A few more lines later.........
Leader>> OMG, I just read your comment, nvm.

Hey, lucky you for getting a tell with the party setup. That almost never happens for me.

Actually, on RDM, for whatever reason, I would leave "AFK, bwaahahahahahaha" in my search comment and, truly, I was AFK. For hours at a time, playing my DS. sleeping or posting on the internet.

My DRG made me do it.

                        ...and I still got invites.

Yeah, he as really AFK also. I'm not really sure why he did it though.

I can't stand to leave FFXI running when I'm not at my computer, so I never AFK and go to sleep or away or something. I miss out on a lot of AFK bazaaring that way.

I myself will go /anon as a DRG often at times. Of course, I do often get invites even when not LFP. But my reasons for going /anon are just random...

I almost never go /anon because of most items of interest.

unless i'm looking for a party or its ballista, anon is almost always on. i get way too many /tells from peeps that won't take no for an answer, and /anon blocks about 95% of them.
