  • My bank is growing thanks to laziness!

I've said before somewhere that this was my second go round with the game. Played since PS2 launch and since got tired of my life as a Tarutaru for various reasons. So I created a mithra... ten months later, she ate the taru. She's carniverious like that. Sold all his stuff too.

So I'm out retreading quests, levels, missions and I'm making a good pace on all of it. LS backing me on my new character also helps a lot

Anyway, in my retread, I've done some old quests over. Venerer Ring, Teleport scrolls, BLM questables... and I'm making a killing. I don't think I made more than 800k total on any of this stuff as my tarutaru (though I did use the scrolls that time). And its pretty easy stuff too, most of which a level 1 could solo or fame spam to do.

I'm certainly not complaining, and I'm sure there's some plausible explanations for it (like having quested and sold it in the past, only to need it later) but still, this is pretty easy stuff. I could probably run a mule through some of it. I've paid for Jarida pieces and even Olipine set (or as I call it "manproofing") through doing these quests. Still got gil to spare and a considerable number of quests I can still profit from.

Has the rush to 75 (or multiple 75s) become so important people don't even bother with this stuff now? I mean, hell, I've seen high level people in Al'Zahbi shout for teleports in sums they they could get the teleport rings for

Craziness. But hey, these guys are feeding my RNG and COR right now, I hope there are only more of them.

Prices are just crazy and people just don't care. They're too lazy to do the quest for an hour when they can buy a million gil in 10 minutes >.>

    But you know what I can't understand? Starting over and dumping a character that is at 75 ; ;

I played 2 years ago got War to 26 and quit. When I came back, it's the same character who is now a mage. I couldn't bare to give up TWENTY SIX levels! hah. And you're able to dump 75! I don't understand it =( Makes me cry a little....

How on earth are you able to do that?

Kind of a personal reason, I don't hide who I was from anyone, but I went through a really dark phase where I lashed out at lots of people due to RL circumstances. In truth, I was totally in the right to be mad at them for the trash they pulled on me in-game, but I took it too far at times. And it seeped back into my RL tenfold. It wasn't addiction to the game, but obsession with those that wronged me. I got no where in the game for months, I just came home and it turned into a place to brood.

The character I level now has always brought out a lighter and more humorous side of me. Perhaps its just the paradox of a male playing a female character. I RP her, but in the oddest way possible. Ever since last summer as a mule, she's had this bazaar comment about a BBQ Kitten Revolution. She wants to rule the world, likes to snack on all the other races in emote, stuff like that.

So I've gone with my mithra to kinda distance and re-discipline myself, I guess. I dilly-dallied a lot for about 8 months with no real in-game progress on my taru and to top it all off, i wasn't happy with the jobs I had levelled. I had played jobs because I thought those jobs would make my friends happy, but I wasn't enjoying RDM or BRD. DRG I enjoyed, but really never had any intention of going beyond AF with it.

And, on a side note, I've always been able to restart a game from the bottom with few problems, it just got to the point where I had to decide on one character and I went with the one that made me happy.

I still have the taru around, I guess you could say the unholy sign that fell upon him is one he's still struggling to wash away. Perhaps I'll dust him off when my goals on the current character are accomplished and feel I've gained enough distance from what's in the past.

I do have a lot of gratitude to my friends for being a listening ear when I needed to vent and supporting me when I started a new. One friend in particular has renewed my faith in people and the RL side of things, showed me something I desparately needed to see - love. Some forgiveness has also taken place. Some bridges mended, others burned entirely.

Either way, I'm a hell of a lot happier now and making good progress to boot. RNG and COR will be my new mains and I've loaded up on just about everything I'll need.

So I've lost a lot of weight, maybe it was from all that dilly-dallying.

Well I can appreciate that =)

It's just hard for me to imagine giving up 75 levels. I mean, that's A LOT of time invested!

I've restarted three times or so now, and people think I'm crazy for it. But I don't really mind. The low to mid level stuff isn't really painful (although it can get tedious), and it's kind of cool to tear through challenges with a new character because you already know so well how to do things.

That said, the only reason I'm not leveling my old character is because I tossed my reg codes and passwords when I stopped playing last year. The only option for me was to start over from scratch, which hasn't been nearly as painful as I thought it would be.

When I sold the teleport scrolls (because I waqs "never" going to level whm... ), I got 20-80k each. Now, they are 200-500k.

I learned my lesson on that one a long time ago. Now I never sell any quested scrolls. Too much hassle.

Re: My bank is growing thanks to laziness!

Well, as far as never levelling WHM, I'll never say "never," but I will say "highly unlikely" since I see it offering no real benefit to what I plan to main on this new character. I've done most of my OPs, even have my Olduum Ring I can't even use yet (stupid level 60 restriction)

If I do level a mage sub, they will most likely be RDM or BLU (free spells).

But I still have my old character at my disposal, has a full WHM sub. I just want to ensure that, in the future, I don't get stuck as BRD in an endgame context again. BRD would be for utility only, I won't main/collect gear as something I no longer enjoy. Need BRD for a quest or mission? Fine. Sky, Sea, HNMs, Dynamis? No thanks. Anyone that considers that selfish can start paying my monthly fees, lol.

Re: My bank is growing thanks to laziness!

I just deleted my level 38 TaruTaru in favour of making a Hume. I had just done the quest for Warp II as well, but obviously not used the scroll yet as it requires level 40. Meanwhile, the scroll sells for insane amounts of money, so I'm not complaining

It's actually a breeze. I got RDM to 63 in little less than 20 days playing time. Took me more than 100 days playing time on my first character to get DRK to 63. orz

But I understand Omgwtfbbqkitten in regards to this. When I started playing Akemie, I just felt so much more happier and felt like a breath of fresh air that made me see Vana'Diel in a different way and enjoy it more than ever.

But I also have another character in the works, mostly because I think 2 Boxing a NIN and a RDM would be cool >.>

I would love to dual box. I have a little Taru BLM/WHM in the wings that would be so much fun to level on the side.

And yeah, the leveling gets faster every time I've started over. Except right now, because I've decided to level everything at once (for now). I could easily be in my 50s by now if I hadn't.
