I usually only use lol if I actually laugh out loud. w is Japanese shorthand. At least it's only one character though.

Yeah, I totally get that. It's not a judgement really. It's just not my way of doing things. It actually requires more effort on my part to type in internet shorthand than not, but that might have something to do with my line of work, and my age.

Anyway, on topic:

It's rare that I see people shouting for gil these days, but occasionally I'll be at the AH or something, and someone will send me a tell like "Please, can you give me some gil, please." Which generally leads me to wonder why they think I've got gil to spare. I guess because I'm at the AH? Because I'm sure as heck not decked out in any uber gears.

I play the old person card often Jei. It throws people off their intended path so a request for gil suddenly becomes "Huh? Your a grandma? Get out of here!". Then usually a chat ensues and people feel more comfortable talking. So then I can talk to them a bit about not begging for gil and how to make some and they aren't offended and take the advise better.

Depends = Adult Diapers
Polygrip = adhesive for dentures
Metamucil = a powdered fiber laxative

I remember one conversation of mine got so annoying, that instead of blacklisting the n00b (I don't like putting people on my blacklist), I told him I'd give him 1,000,000 gil if he could kill a certain mob. He's level 15, and has the superiority complex that you get after getting passed the lizard/gob dune phase. So I'm like follow me. I take him to La Thiene. The conversation went like this.

Me>> If you can kill that ram, I will give you 1 million gil.
(I was pretty far away, thought it was a regular ram....Buuuuttttttt, it wasn't =3)
Him>> ROFL, kay.
Me>> Good luck, lol.
