  • No Offense - but why are White Mages so stuck on themselves

No offense really but I have a RL friend who also plays the game. he is now a high level white mage.

we both started as warriors and monks...

but now that he has become a high level white mage, he feels like he can turn the game on at any given time and get an invite.

he thinks he is always in need healing , teleporting etc..

my thing is we all need each other on this game and none of us is so high and mighty.

This has really gone to his head

All mages are the same, they think they're better than us, but the only thing they excell at is drama.

Some players get a rockstar complex, and it really isn't exclusive of high demand jobs like WHM or BRD, I've seen this attitude in pretty much every job.

Do you really wanna get into that? Is like saying all melee are just a bunch of brainless players that just hit auto-attack without thinking.

Really, that's just flame war bait...

Wow, I thought WHM love was kinda dying out due to tp burn and manaburn pts at high levels, etc.

Meh, I kinda think the game reveals character, not gives it. My .02.

I'm with Silenus. I know tons of really humble mages of all colors, and just as many melees who think that they are god's gift. It's not the job. It's the player.

All jobs have their pros and cons. WHM is one of those that gets party invites fairly easily. When I come across one of those players that is a bit stuck up, I have a good laugh with myself when I see them shouting in Jeuno for a Coffer Key party. My job of THF may not get invites very easily, but there is no one better at Coffers and Chests than a THF. My point is that all jobs have their high-points. If getting a party fast is a priority for you, great. Let me know how long you spend on your AF Coffers - I did mine in one evening.

Well the thing is what he says is pretty much true. If you're the right job, you can pretty much log on whenever and get an invite within a minute or two. I don't use my seek party flag anymore as rdm, I just turn off /anon.

Every job is needed for something, but not all jobs are equal. ^^ Well ... maybe not drg ... or pup ...

I tought I was the only one who thought like this.

really we do all need each other in this game, thats the way it was designed.

a white mage cant solo until 75 and neither can a warrior..

you need us to keep you alive the same way we do..

I have asked some and they turn down parties because they are too good.

Well, there's a difference between knowing that you're a useful job, and being a snob about it.

Generally there are more parties looking for a healer than healers looking for a party. So if you're the 3rd person to send the whm an invite in the last 60 seconds (it happens) then no, strictly speaking the whm does not need you.

Agreed, a player that's gonna be like that is gonna be like that in any job they are playing, and some choose high demand jobs just to be able to do so.

It's just that some jobs allow people to act like that more than others.

Pretty much. I'm also generally the kind of person who accepts the first invite I get, provided that it's not from someone who is some crazy job combo or doesn't have a properly leveled sub, or who invites me without asking first. So if I get three or four tells in a row, I'm going to generally accept the first one.

Unless I know one of the others, I guess.

And that is kewl nothing wrong with that, but I am saying that because of all of these party invites it has changed my RL friend.. he thinks that because he is whitemage he is Gods gift to Vanadiel..

its not what you do..its how you dont it !!

Right, me too. I'm just trying to point out that just because everyone needs eachother in this game doesn't mean that one person necessarily needs you as much as you need them. Not all jobs are in equal demand.

That doesn't make one job strictly better than another, but certain ones have advantages over others.
