No Offense - but why are White Mages so stuck on themselves

its not what you do..its how you dont it !!
So really the title of your thread should be "Why is my friend stuck on himself?"

But in reality, WHM's are mostly hasseled a lot. People demaning Raises here and there and being in high demand they don't get any time for themselves...unless they go on different job.
Re: No Offense - but why are White Mages so stuck on themselves
My two highest jobs are BRD and WHM. The only times I've ever turned down an invite have been for a party that had a PL at 40something, and if I'm trying to do something other than XP. I've also never left a party for being sub-par. I've stuck it out with idiots that earned me less than a thousand XP over several hours.
I can say without ego that if I log in with /anon off, I'll probably get an invite to an XP party. It's just a fact. It doesn't make me better than any other player.
Also, don't fall into the trap of assuming that any given player is their job. I'm not a WHM or a BRD. I do have those jobs leveled, and at any given time, one of them might be my main job (actually, no, screw BRD in the ear). But I'm also a DRG. For a while there, I was a BST, THF, WAR, RDM, BLM, MNK, and SAM. And then there's BLU, SMN, NIN and PLD, which I am undecided on.
Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs. ,

Lol I am also a 69 drg/war and I do my job well. I dont wait for party invites I have always , I mean always made my own and they are very good parties..
I just try to let my friend know that just because I am a dragoon and may not get that invite he is not better than I am.
One person said it right because of all of the invites with teleposrts, raises parties invites etc they dont have time for themseleves and I can understand that.
but dont let or think that because you are a white mage that you are any more needed than the next job. ( thats all I be trying to show my RL friend) it has really gone to his head and we never even party anymore.. maybe its just me..
but all jobs on this game is needed in some way !!

Tell that to the poor Puppetmasters, who currently have no place in the grand scheme of things.

I don't participate in job elitism, but I do practice some elitism in terms of players; if I know a certain player is not good at their job, I'll avoid playing with them in the future unless I have no other choices available.
As for invites, even high demand jobs sometimes have difficulty getting invites at times; it all depends on when you're seeking and how much competition you have.

well I think the square will do something in the future for puppetmasters.. I am a dragoon so I know how it feels to be the last picked.. but again I make all of my own parties it has never been a problem for me.
But some whitemage just seems to have that air aboutthemsleves, like yes you need me you better bow down to me..
I am not saying all of them in no way but some of them really need to come out of the clouds !!

Truer words have never been spoken. Look to your friend and not the job for a place to put blame. I've had the same thing happen to me but the people who did it were not lvling up a mage job. Long story short... static pt, real life friends in it, g/f gets mad a b/f for playing too much and quits, b/f chooses game over g/f, guy friend gets mad at said b/f for choosing game over him, guy friend quits game also, static pt breaks, a few of my so called friends get huge heads and leave everyone behind, and there are more variables to it but thats it in a nutshell. It's shocking enough to see someone do this to an online friend but to real life friends, it boggles the mind.

Yah, most of my experiences with WHMs have been ... well, not pleasant. And I said most, not all. But most should count for something. I remember once a WHM mysteriously just dropped out of PT because she had a beef with me inviting a friend (BST/NIN) to exp with us. I mean, he wasn't gimped, by far. He had the best possible gear and he had another main (74 WAR) and was pretty much a solid player all around. The WHM just dropped and then went to another exp party.
Somehow the two parties ended up in BT. Her party wiped on a link of flies and she promptly ditched them and begged me to let her in my party, where we were pulling chain 5s. w/o a WHM.

When I first started playing this game I ran a small linkshell of friends. We had all met in game, but communicated both in and out of it, and were what I would consider to be pretty good "online" friends. Some of us lived rather close, and had planned to get together, so it was entirely possible that we could have eventually become good RL friends as well.
I moved on to WoW and EQ2 for a while, and my old linkshell members and I fell out of contact with each other. Several months later I returned to the game, and tried to get back in touch. But they weren't having it. It wasn't that they had any grudge against me for leaving the game (they were perfectly fine with that, and in fact a couple of others had done the same, but returned to FFXI earlier). It's just that they were busy with the endgame, and didn't really have time to be my friend anymore since there wasn't anything I could do for them.
It was a real wake up call. Now I'm far more cautious when it comes to making friends in the game.
Re: No Offense - but why are White Mages so stuck on themselves
Obviously there are some stuck-up white mages, as there are stuck-up <insert job>s. But you started an entire thread about what is a massive generalization based on your experience with (at least as far as you've shown) one person. The problem is that this feeds the general impression that all white mages are stuck up, which is not the case. Personally, I've only met one who seemed to think he was more important than the party. Blacklist, and finding a more competent and humble healer, solved that situation.
So, yes, some players who have white mage leveled are more full of themselves than their abilities warrant. This goes without saying, as those players are, in fact, human. But attempting to extrapolate this to all white mages is counter-productive to say the least.

I understand what you are saying but I did mention in a earlier post that it wasnt all white mages.. I have partied with many who did not have that air about themseleves..
but I am not going to change what I said that most of them do have that airness about them from what Ive seen on my server.. Some are very kewl infact will go out of thier way to help you but thats with any job..
but for some reason because they know they are the healers of the game saome of them do walk around like they are Gods... I am sorry if it has offended anyone ..its was just my 2 gils..

Please make up your mind.
EDIT: And the above point still holds - making blanket generalizations about a job based on a handful of encounters is unfair and unwise. Just as you (as a dragoon) don't like being generalized as being sub-par DD's, kindly return the favor and don't do the same for white mages.

your point is very well taken and understood.
So to make this clear its not all whitemages its just some of them. but that could be with any job.
my real point is that I NEED them whitemages, redmages, bards etc to help keep me alive .. I just wish that some of them felt the same way..
again i am not saying that all of them are uppity just some of them are..
bottom line I dont care what job you do we all need each other in Vanadiel..

Wow, I thought WHM love was kinda dying out due to tp burn and manaburn pts at high levels, etc.
Meh, I kinda think the game reveals character, not gives it. My .02.
Axe burn parties still require a white mage. Status removal and general curing. I guess you've never partied in Caedarva Mire, lots of AOE damage and so forth.
I've gotten fairly quick invites when I've switched over to WHM, right when I was trying to teleport myself or do some errand with my LS and end up not having time to party.

That's why they become so high and mighty. White Mages don't have it as bad as Black Mages though, Blm are in a leauge of their own when it comes to drama.
