Some White Mages may be like that, but not all of us are..

For me, White Mage is a passion. I fell in love with White Mages playing FF1 as a little girl. The whole helping others thing and healing and all kinds of stuff.

But I personally feel like White Mages tend to be underappreciated. Its our job to keep the party alive, and life or death can depend on the next Cure. I look for parties who respect White Mages as an important member of the party and who listen to my macros when i'm low on MP or if I need something. I don't like to be a part of parties where people are like "I need this and this and this and this right now." I know my job. I know how to do my job and when to cure, and how I time things. I'm all about helping others, but if someone in the party is being a retard, then they will learn an important lesson fast enough. ^^

If most WHM treat you like crap, it's probably because of this kind of attitude you have. Do you join parties and immediately start talking crap about them or something? Are you one of those melee who shout at the WHM to poisona you, or erase you, or cure you RIGHT NOW? Because that would make any WHM hate you.

Stop trying to pass yourself off as somehow more noble than those mean old WHMs who are placed in this game for no purpose but to belittle and harass you. No one is buying it.

I will never shout at anyone for not doing thier job..Since I make ALL of my parties if the mages tell me that the tank is not doing his job then i will send him a private tell.. on the other hand if the tanks tell me that the mages arent doing thier job i still do a private tell.

I have nver ever try to embrassed someone in a party.. so for you to say I am trying to pass myself off as Noble I dont have to because I am just that.

If anyone has ever partied with me or know me they can tell the same thing.

I get along with everyone including the hot headed uppidty whitemages that I know.

That's about 70% of all life's drama explained easily, lol.

I have developed several theories, based on relativity and the law of conservation of matter, that explains how drama works in a given system.

Theory #1: The presence of drama tends to warp people's perceptions.

Theory #2: In an isolated system, Drama can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted into worthless, wasted energy.

I believe that when any fixed system is created, a fixed amount of drama is introduced into the system. Now, this drama tends to focus on certain individuals (read: emo tards and dark knights), and as dramatic forces increase in other places, it is displaced from the foci and spread throughout the system, until it eventually dissipates (generally through the apathetics you mentioned), eventually returning back to the foci, unless it's converted into worthless energy, such as "I quit" posts and the like.

I plan on starting a WHM when i start playing here in the next few days, and I will be the best whm i can possibly be. I will help when I can, and when it is as convient as possible for both parties.

What people like the OP need to realise, is I'm a WHM to help me and my wife in our journey through Vanadiel, i'm not a WHM to make "you" (in general) happy.

I also don't log onto the game unless I already know what I'm going to be doing, so within minutes of me entering the world, I'm grouped and traveling to what ever destination it is that our quest/missions lead us too.

If you are in the same zone and need a res? I'll be right there after this next fight.
If you are in the same zone and need a port? If i'm not busy (not knowing if i go with th eport or not yet) I'll port you.

You treat me like I owe you something, I'll make sure to laugh at your corpse as my teleport vinishes casting.

THe thing about these games is they bring out the best in all of us, and the worst in all of us at the same time.

The funny thing about MMO's or the internet in general is that you can be who you are or you can be something you are not. In my years of MMO's and the internet, I've seen a lot and dealt with a lot of different people. In the beginning, people were as they were in real life for the most part. About the biggest change that I would see is someone that wasn't too chatty in real life would be more open on the net. But as the net became more populated, you eventually saw a change in the way people would act because you got a more diverse group. It certainly did make some things more interesting. (Like the time my friend met a "lady" over the net and wanted to take it up a notch to real dating......ya.......found out it was a dude. >.< ) So you can be whatever you want to be in game and have whatever personality you want, but in the end one thing remains the same, you're dealing with other real people too. If you want people to be nice to you and help you at times, then you in turn have to be nice and help them also. You reap what you sow and if you sit back and have an attitude towards whm's or any mage, it will come through to them and you'll get the same in kind.

Not much to say outside that..i am a WHM, i always choose the healer class, if i can be a WHM irl i would, because i want to help people, and the only time i charged for teleports was when i was ignorant back in the 30s about how to farm as a WHM and well yeah i resorted to that, however now that i am more knowledgable i usually do teleport people for free. And to see a thread saying that EVERYONE thats a WHM is like this is kinda...a slap to the face since i try to be nice to everyone i meet unless they arent that great to begin with. So spread good kindness and joy and keep people alive. @_@ Some migiht not appreciate but....blah dont let one guy get you down...^^

Lionx, I too always seem to be healing classes. Not always because i want to help people, in general, but I generally find them to be more challenging.

I know what you mean also TheGrandMom, when i first started my "internet gaming career" 6 years ago, in a mud called Duris, people were themselves. I like to think i'm the same guy in game as i am out of game. All i care about is having fun, i don't care about optimum groups, or max exp, if it's fun, i'm all for it. Deaths? Deleveling? As long as I had fun dying, I'm cool with it. :D

There's only two personality types:

Type A - Which is the more go-get-em types. (Melee, BLM, Any Party DD in General)

Type B - Which is more laid back. (Support/Healing Mages, and solo BST/WHM)

Personality traits, I'll have to take a little bit longer to explain. ;o

So, if I've mained a DD class (RNG), support class (BRD), healing/casting class (RDM), and a nuking class (BLM), what type am i?

EDIT: Not included are all the jobs I started and didn't really get into, like BST, WHM, NIN, etc.

Heh, that's what I was getting at. I've leveled PLD, WHM, and BRD to 65 before, and now I am leaning very seriously towards either RDM, BRD, NIN, DRG, SAM, BLM or COR. So I am not sure where I fall in the FFXI personality type spectrum.
