I have a friend who is debating whether to play WoW or FFXI. As of now, he's playing WoW and said he just recently paid for another whole year of it. My neighbor next door plays XI and is probably the reason I've started playing. But we both want our friend who's playing WoW to play FFXI. He seemed interested but can't make up his mind. Any suggestions?

Re: Have a friend who...
Well, if he just paid for another year of WoW, it seems monumentally stupid to not keep playing that. Not that he can't play both.
Is WoW his first MMO? What does he like about it? What does he not like about it? Find those things out and see if you can make a decent list of comparisons for him. Especially if either you or your neighbor have played both. Be honest. Don't try and make FFXI sound better than it is.
Other than that, if you can, let him play on a mule or something to see how he likes it. Let him watch your main in action a bit.Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

rule # 1
dont force or bug him to join, if he just paied for a year of WoW (stupid to pay for lot like that...) then he seems to have his mind maid up...or he is just hasty :p
also have him try both, and then let him choose from there.-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Have a friend who...
Thanks for the feed back everyone! I sent him that video (hilarious! ) and I'll let him try playing it for himself. Think giving him the buddy pass is the best way to go?Steal for greed or riches, and you may lose your hand. Steal for fame or glory, and the same may happen. But steal for survival or in poverty, and you may get away with a few fingers...

Re: Have a friend who...
If you have a buddy pass to give, and that's easier for both of you than just having him over to play sometime, sure. Guess it depends on how much he minds going through massive downloads to try something out.Ellipses on Fenrir

Re: Have a friend who...
If he's really into World of Warcraft he's a lost cause. All he'll do in FFXI is beg for money and complain about how long everything takes. FFXI is definately a niche game, and not everybody can handle it.

Re: Have a friend who...
I've tried convincing a friend to play FF XI with me instead of WoW, but he really is into WoW.
Guess I cannot change that.
I think it's just a matter of taste, give him the facts and let him decide on his own.
No point in pushing something on someone.
