I've only got the 3 basic crystals. I'm going to get the other ones soon though, got booted from a party recently because I did'nt have this crystal.

With your WHM at 30 it'll be extremely easy. Sneak and Invis through Korroloka (or just sneak and don't walk in front of gigas), then just Sneak through Altepa. Cakewalk. Vahzl you can wait a bit on. I just picked mine up when I was doing the Valdewhatsit outpost supply run. Yhoat you can just take a chocobo from Kazham.

My LS leader made a much bigger deal about my getting the five tele crystals early on than I was really comfortable with. I'm an experienced player. It's just a lot of walking around (with sneaking and invising). You would have thought I was her child walking or talking for the first time.

I decided to stop leveling my 35 rng until I got the Altepa crystal, primarily since my last pt nearly chose Altepa over Garlaige. So... *takes cookie*

I'm glad it's not that difficult to get, especially since I have my RDM at 30, so I can sneak/invis myself cheaply. And I just love that you can't get a map of Korroloka until you find your way to Raboa.

I got my Vazhl when I was lv40 ish...lv43?


Was having an adventure to the northlands with a friend of mine... also went and poked Jormungund, and went skiing off Thousand Fall Ridge. Was a ton of fun.


But really, I don't think you should have Vahzl until 50, since there's reallly nothing there for you.


And i'm not belittling people who don't have it, I just replace them. I used to escort people, but it's just not worth it so often. Especially when it's so easy to get there that I used to use my 2RDM to get to Rabao for fishing.

Well, if you're a WHM it's handy to have the Vahzl crystal for going to get your Vahzl scroll. Although you could just buy it and then quest it later. Or other jobs might want it if doing a BCNM at the Qu'bia Arena.

So, not really imperitive pre-50, but if you know the way and you have time, you may as well go get it.

I got my Altep crystal when I was early 30s thf solo. Though I pted a lot in altep, I kept my HP in bastok and made good use of the OP warps (still do) so I never had trouble with travel. I got my yhoat one while doing a nin quest or some quest in Yhoat at 40ish. Again, was solo but still had no trouble, even on foot. And I didn't get Vahzl one to real recently with two jobs at 50. Was doing my NPC quest in the glacier and decided to go pick it up while I was there. Good thing I did too, about a week later I went exping on my War and the pt decided to go to Ul(tab) Range by way of the Vahzl crystal. Never having a chance to do the OP warp there, if I didn't have that crystal I woulda been screwed.

I happened to pick up Altepa on my way over to Rabao just yesterday... as a 20 summoner, no powders or nuthin. I just happened to be on my way over to the mini-trial for Garuda (aced it, thanks for the buffs Tetsuo!) and noticed that it was on my way. It was tricky sneaking into the gulch with the crystal (and finding it without maps) but not impossible.

One thing that I am noticing as I continue is that it is entirely possible to reach high levels while doing minimal exploration. To complete the summoner flag quest, my 30 whm was having to sneak into places he'd never heard of before (what's this glacier doing here?) and now the mini-avatar quests are leading me to towns that I've seen on no maps (Norg next). I'm amazed at how huge this game really is when I start exploring it. It's not surprising that there are 40's that haven't been out of the busy exp zones.

Exactly. It's very easy to get to 40 without ever having visited Alteppa. Especially since most parties just do the Valkurm > Qufim > Yhutunga > Yhoator > Garlaige > Crawler's route.

Actually, i'm talking about the people who have it pre-40, for PTs in Eastern from 26-34ish. After 40, most people will have it for beetles and stuff.

Well, your intial post was just an insulting/joking one. You added all that "How to get the crystal" stuff considerably later, when you realized that we weren't all nodding our heads in agreement with you.

If people get it pre-40, kudos to them. But if they don't, I wouldn't exactly be surprised or anything. Most folks don't bother to wander down to Kuzotz until at least the late 40's early 50's.

Well, regardless it wasn't in the orginal post, so don't get all cranky at folks for discussing the relative merits of obtaining the crystal before 40.
