Hmmm. Perhaps the war has leveled all this time with PLD or NINs as tanks, and never really gave it any thought? I had a 43 BLM who didn't know what a skill chain or magic burst was this week.

Well maybe he knew the role, but didn't know the exact terminology. You have to remember that this is the first MMORPG for a lot of players and they're not used to some of the common terms we use everyday.

yeah seeing as he is only 26 its nothing new. ive seen them in the early 30's still not voking. while my rng is basically tanking mobs. an i dont even spam arrows. best thing your buddy could do was to grin an bear it, an WTF why not try an teach the guy something, or explain it. so you'll get told to STFU, but atleast he will have learned something.

I think Ziero may have it right - he just did not know the terminology. Though one thing I have noticed is that a WAR Tank is less and less common, reguardless of level, even though they make the best tanks at the low levels, IMO. I have partied with some some really awesome WAR/MNK Tanks before.

Try level 66 nin who didn't know to use both ichi and ni to stay alive. He died 15 seconds into the first fight.

I ended up using Barrage, Eaqgle Eye Shot, Sidewinder, to get the mob's attention off the BLM who wouldn't have had hate if it weren't for the tank dying. Then I tanked till the end of the fight and thankfully lived. Meanwhile, the NIN was cussing at the WHM for "letting him die."
