  • Question

Does this game still have a life left? is the number of people dropping and if so how long do you think it has left? months, a year or more or never?

    Re: Question

The number of people has increased drasticly with the release of the 360 version and the new expansion. A couple months ago, my server saw about 3500 people on during JP peak, and how it sees over 5000.

The game likely has several years left in it, at least, even if they never do another expansion. This year alone they are still planning on adding chocobo raising, chocobo racing, collusium, the pit, and job adjustments.

No word yet on plans for version updates for next year.

      Re: Question

Yes. Not by any significant ammount. This games easily has years left.

I have seen this question many times, and I have a favorite example: the original EverQuest - Not EQ2, the original EQ - relased another expansion pack back in April. That game is 7 years old and is far from dead. I think FFXI has plenty of life left in it.

          Re: Question

This game is far from dead, I know loads of people that have joined recently because they're heard of it and people that have left other online games like wow to play it. New players arrive everyday, it's not dying at all.

            Re: Question

My new server (Garuda) has up to 4k people on peak time, which is an amazing number, because I can always find people to play with and talk with etc. If you are thinking of getting this game, now is definetly the time.

                Re: Question

I don't think there have been any major MMOs that don't exist anymore. Maybe that Microsoft one, does that count?
Even Galaxies is still around. But that isn't the same game anymore...

                  Re: Question

I think that of all the MMOs ever released in the US, so far only 1 (asheron's call 2) has ceased operations. All of the others, FFXI included, are still alive with sustained playerbases.

Even UO is still around and has a decent sized playerbase.

                    Re: Question

The only one that I know of that is no longer around are Earth and Beyond (which I loved). To my knowledge, every other game including Ultima Online is still going strong (I suppose if you count Meridian 59 that isn't around either, but that's basically a previous generation of game).

I came back to FFXI after a long absence, I really missed it. I've played every one out there, and this is one of my favorites. Sadly my old Linkshell is dead and gone, but finding a new one is part of the fun I suppose =)

lol why are people surprised that UO is still around? UO was and still is a very VERY fun MMO ^.^

I am still trying to find a realy good free server, because I dont feel like paying for UO anymore...
