Re: What's the fun in this?

I'd have been tempted to accidentally find the "Boot from party button" until he accidentally stops a: butchering that poor defenseless language and b: gets a sword. Both are required.

Re: What's the fun in this?

I'm sure I'm not the most patient person, but our whm was a believe naked and that didn't bother me nearly as much as telling a person that in 5 days they should be 30+ with sub. I played this game at release and since left and came back twice b/c I was unable to appreciate some of its finer points. And I believe I did get 30 in about a week but I knew exactly what I had to do to do so and picked a first job that would allow me not to have to go back and lvl something. The first time I believe I was a mnk for a week before doing rdm and then finally war. ( I have no reason why I thought rdm/mnk would work, I think it had something to do with enthunder o.O ) If somebody had told me I was that far behind at that time I would have felt horrible.

I feel bad for this new guy who was being crapped on by that PUP. Even moreso because I guess he stayed around to berate the poor guy.

Not to offend any die hard PUPs out there, but I can think of about 17 other jobs I'd invite over a PUP anyway. Well, maybe 16.

Bottom line, he was rude, and there wasn't any reason for it. Picking on new players and making them feel badly instead of teaching them how to become better players is no way to act.

If you remember the WAR's name I'd send him that encouraging tell today. A little time in between doesn't invalidate the positive effects that kind of thing can have.

With that said I'm having issues figuring out what I am supposed to really be doing as a blue. Right now I am taking the opportunist approach. I debuff and do a little dps until I see something else is needed then do that. I haven't felt this noobish in a while b/c I can't seem to find a deffinate place in the party. I grab all my spells before hitting the level for them so as not to gimp a party any more, I just hope that is enough.

And yes Ellipses, I think I will do that if I see him.

From what I've noticed of BLU (and I think there is a fair amount of discussion on this subject in the BLU forums), what's great is that you can fill several roles in the party, depending on need, and what subs you have available. Sounds like you're doing just what you should.

Blue Mage is what you want it to be.

You can be a straight tank to fierce DD to enfeebler/support.

How you fit into the party should be defined by the role your party leader assigns for you, so long as they are competent, and you have a variety of subs viable for choosing.

                - for this, I am of the mind that so far... /Whm, /Rdm, /Blm, /War, /Nin, /Drg, /Drk, /Bst, /Thf, /Brd and /Pld *all* have their purposes for this role. >< Some more than others (they weren't listed in order that I'd rate them, just how they sprang to my head and I'm sure there's some I've forgotten to add.

BLU make great tanks. With good gear, food, and the lovely Cocoon, you'll quite possibly have higher defense than 'actual' tanks at your level.

I agree. Kick the crap out of the puppetmaster. Anybody who gets their first job on the game to 30 + levelled subjob inside of five days.....ends up like that PUP.

Another thing BLU does excessively well is solo. Get some juice, cookies, and +Acc gear and go to town if you don't want to party in the Dooms.

It took me 6 months to get my Thief up to 30.

Of course I died a lot. Plus I was doing more Quests and Crafts then actuall leveling.

As for soloing, yeah, I did notice my ability to chain two toughs at lvl 14. When I did that I felt that was a little awkward for the poor gobs.

That seemed like a party you should have just left immediately. Yesterday trying to get a party with my monk was even worse.

Was in at least 4 different parties, most people were horribly equipped (lvl 13 PLD in vagabond's gear anyone?), naked BLMs w/ MND rings >_>;, and no one having any type of ranged (VOKE PULL FTW). And of course, me being tank. After so much and only getting 1 lvl out of it, I just said gotta go, nice meeting you all, left and soloed in the Highlands.

people are stupid. dont ever ever ever ever under-estimate how stupid someone can be.

                                it's their trap.

i dont blame you for leaving, people like the pup should just be put in their place by the pt leader. if he is the pt leader, then just excuse yourself and solo. sometimes solo`ing ends up being better than xp when youre going through the teen-levels.

some people just dont know how to act normal. youll find it in every level of the game. you'll have jerks in dynamis, merit pts, mid level pts... just cant escape it. best thing you can do is do your job right and if someone is outta line, step up and lay it out for them. if not, dont be afraid to leave. you'll get other pts. better ones too.
