There is a list of what you can find in a chest at the bottom of that page. Battle Gloves are always a nice find.^^

If you find a treasure chest in that zone, you can use the key and get an item. According to www.ffxi-atlas.com, you can get one of the following:
450-900 gil
Battle Gloves
Amber
Amethyst
Sardonyx
Lapis Lazuli
Tourmaline

In otherwords...not much.

Edit:
I should point out that some zones have maps only obtainable by opening a chest or coffer in that zone, although they're all mid-high level zones.
