Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
With Regards to similarities to other FF games, it's quite different to what has gone before but bears a striking resemblance to FFXII. The combat systems are almost identical, so it'll give you an idea of what to expect when that game gets an English release.
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
Welcome to the game, i hope you find it statisfying and rewarding.
Duoing and trioing are just fine, may be a little slower when you first start out as you get used to how stuff works, and like the others have said you can always pick up more people along the way if you choose.
What i would like to comment on is the crafting. Definitly worth it. Crafting is invovled and like everything in this game long, but rewarding. Pick something you would be interested in, and by that i mean look at the end lvl stuff, typically 70-100 skill, and go with that craft. For the purposes of an income, that is to maintain a lvl of gil and or to earn at a steady rate of gil, you will want to get you cooking and alchemy up to lvl60. I recomend both of these cause they are the steadiest producers of consumables (literally in the case of cooking) or to put it another way, products that are used on a daily basis by other adventurers. You want to take, possible, another craft to 100 for the purpose of HQ gear and/or cursed items which can be turned into sweet gear.
Have fun and good luck, and if you end up on the Catsith server look me up
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
You definitely can, but I've found that I have gotten really used to the FFXI control type movement. I almost never touch my mouse while playing, and I think that's a good thing.
Really though, it's all about what you're most comfortable with.
/cue the folks to come in and talk about the benefits of using a gamepad or controller.
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
I have a N52 also, but haven't seen how it would be as benefical in this game as others, expcept in the macro-management department, will have to see how it all goes.
I really do appreciate all the help you guys have offered!
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
I haven't heard anyone rave about using the Nostromo with FFXI, but a regular PS2 or PS2 style gamepad seems to be ideal. Unless you're using it on the 360 of course.
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
You can buy an adaptor to just use your PS2 controller directly (a lot of people swear by them), or you can buy one that is like a PS2 controller with a USB cord.
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
I find that the setup that FFXI has for keyboards is extremely awkward, even for an MMORPG. The game seems to be made with a PS2 controller in mind and the ease it is played with a controller tends to support this.
Re: For my first post, i bombard you with questions!
Really? Maybe it's just because I've been using it for so long, but I find the default keyboard setup to be ideal. I can use my right hand to do everything movement/camera/menu wise, and then my right hand for macros opening menus with CTRL or ALT + commands, and talking. It's perfect, in my opinion.
