  • New experiences with trio exp camps

Tonight I had a rather strange, but new exp party in Wajoam Woodlands.

Right by the telepoint there are lots of Lesser Colibri, which ding tough to very tough at 61. The setup was Drk61/Nin, Mnk63/Nin and Rdm63/Whm, yes that is a trio setup. ^^

The camp worked out amazingly well..we never ran out of mobs, we remained relatively unharmed because of Nin subs and we often SC'd when the birds didn't use their annoying 'Reduce TP to 0' move. ><

Overall from start to finish we were there 2 hours, and I went from 8k into level to 14k into level, sure it isn't the best exp ever, but pretty good for trio and maybe even duo exp if there isn't anybody seeking.

Small parties can be a blast. My husband and I often trio with our friend. PLD + SAM + BRD can build chains on most T mobs with ease. :D

It's great if you're not in a hurry to level, and just want to spend time playing with the people you care about. :D

Re: New experiences with trio exp camps

I'm always up for something new :D How tough are these Lesser Colibri? Would you feel comfortable with a dragoon/red mage main healing for roughly 190hp/healing breath with your tank at 50% hp?

Aren't the Colibri the bird mobs that cast spells right back at you? If so, how would a blm who casts freeze on the birds, then runs out of spell casting range work? That leaves the bird casting for a good 12 seconds or so.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

To my knowledge only the higher level Colibri have the Magic Counter attribute, and when they do, it's insta-cast.

The Colibri cast spells not the Lesser ones. I soloed the lesser ones as a 63 Drg/Rdm. Do not use food since they have a tp move to remove it. They have two more tps moves, Pecking Furry (multi hit attack) and Feather something (reduces tp to 0). A duo of drg/mages takes these things down really fast. Make sure you get refresh with your sanction. It works beautifully.
              Thanks Kazuki.

Not a trio, but a quartet, smn/whm, brd/whm, nin/war, thf/nin (me) lvlrng58-59, where chaing these and the spiders really well last thursday. It seems to me that the new areas lend themselves to smaller party configurations with competant players?

The lesser colibri are really squishy, we had fun even, and even without food I rareley missed. I would love a BST to try exping here, I reckon they could get even more exp than a trio.

I dunno about new areas, but there's plenty of duo/trio areas in existing zones; at low levels, I've had good experiences with a DD/war and mage/whm set-up in places like Bubumiru (at the OP), and the entrance to Gusegn. I'd bet opportunities are even better as you move on, as more areas become viable, with EM-T-VT monsters.

Ahh, that's too bad, having the mob stuck casting a spell would've been nice:/

But it does bring up something, aren't you glad some spells aren't in the game?

Trio exp is fun. Esp with friends. We did Sky off pots and birds (Farming for shards from pots for one of my friends who's an alchemist) We chained to 5 and kept it up for like 3 hours, eventually getting a RDM for his testimony. It was really refreshing.

I even killed the lesser colibris with six while my party was on the way to Aydewwa Subterrane (noooo spelled it wrong ; ; ) and we were getting about 130 exp a kill, got up to chain#12 and got 200 something exp with no band. Those things own. For a full party the tigers out there are nice too. But AOE para sucks ><
