Yeah, I found similiar gear that just didn't cost insane peices.

And a note, the Angles are back on Ramuh. >.<
I saw them last night in Jeuno.
Almost four years experience playing FFXI. I am a Raccoon, not a Hyena--despite my name states I am one.

Get creative and pretend these happened.

Gil sellers lower the "perceived" cost of gil, making it easier (for Gil buyers) to spend more per item. Gil buyers with 100 million adds more inflationary pressure than non-Gil buyer with 100 million, because the Gil buyer feels less inhibition about spending the gils--just wipe out credit card again and more gils are on the way.

Not surprisingly, inflationary economy is good for gil sellers; the more players feel like they can't keep up, the more tempting buying gil becomes. Increasing prices also means gil sellers get more merchandise to sell, since each of their in-game item would sell for more (on average).

Of course, inflation isn't automatically bad for everyone else; a high level crafter with a good business sense can ride out inflation pretty easily--unless his "specialty items" happens to be what the Gil seller crafters produce.

Over the last few weeks, after watching the debates, I have thought long and hard about the issue. Just be aware that I don't side with the gilsellers, as yes, I am well aware that many of them hack, exploit, and cheat to get thier stock of product to sell. I have just come to be of the opinion that the practice really affects my play experience in such a negligable way that I have a hard time understanding why people get so riled up about it.

I dunno, maybe I just play the game differently, considering I don't ever really camp anything and prefer to make my money by buying low and selling high on the AH. Ah well, to each his or her own.
I used to think this way at a time when I had been financially well off for a really long time. I had forgotten all about farming and camping, but eventually that money ran out. It only took one day for me to remember why I dislike them so much.

Aren't they makeing the people who buy from them dependent on them too?

If they never learn how to make money.
