Re: New Player Guide to Easy Gil

    Nice guide.

Although some think synthing isn't for them, which is understandable. Flint Stones, Beehive Chips, Silk Threads and much more can be farmed and sold for pure profit.

Nice low level money making guide. Also, when you're not sure where to find an item: http://ffxi.somepage.com/

Re: New Player Guide to Easy Gil

Awesome guide for newbs (wish one was around when I first started the game, would have saved me alot time and gil)

Basically you should never sell drops/crystals to NPC's (with some exceptions, such as item quests), ALWAYS SELL AT THE AH! Your always going to make much more gil by selling at the AH then by selling to NPC shops.

Plus, lvling THF is a good way to make a profit, especially when they get to 15 and learn the Treasure Hunter ability

Good guide for new players but don't forget to include my favoritest tip of all...

Get as many quests as possible! Just pick a day and spend it wandering around your starting city. Talk to all the NPCs you come to and run errands for them. Some will give you gil, some will give you items which you can use or sell, but all of them will give you fame. This is also a great way to get to know your starting city and find out where a number of the vendors are.

Re: New Player Guide to Easy Gil

I am a Bastokan, and I would like to add a bit of farming advice for the area. I'll let the San D'Orians and Windurstians tackle their own towns even though I've farmed all three. I've left out some products, but I've included the good ones and some of the "Lottery" products you can get in the areas.

Remember to check the difference between the stack price and the single item price, too. In Windurst-Asura for example, you can sell a single Silk Thread for 1000gil, but if you were to collect 12 of them, the stack is worth 60,000gil!

Prospect the auction house if you are a farmer (as opposed to a craftsman) to see which local products are of low quantity and concentrate on them. Make sure to check the Price History as well to ensure that your product sells quickly enough for your tastes.

              Products of Bastok
              Farming Gustaberg
Early on, focus on the Bees and Worms collecting Honey, Insect Wings, Ores, and Flint stones. Later, you can kill creatures on the hills, but I recommend that you move to the Zeruhn Mines at level 3 (see below). If you choose to stay, go up the hills or over the bridges to find bigger monsters. If you plan to go to Zeruhn mines, you might want to collect a few fire crystals from the Vultures before you go, or just trade in your Earth and Wind crystals for a stack at the Auction House.

              Products of Gustaberg

Crystals: Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth crystals are found here in good quantity. You can also get Lightning crystals from Goblin Fishers. Fire and Lightning crystals are upper-middle value crystals.

Honey: Honey is used to make Mulsum (among other things including many foods, Remedies, and Attribute Boost Potions). These sell well.

Flint Stones/Ores: Same are Zeruhn Mines, dropped from worms.

Goblin Masks: I'll have to beat you with a rattan cane if you drop these... They're used for making Glass and come from the leather-clad goblins.

Sheepskins: These sell extremely fast. You can also use your weak synthesis powers to stack them into Wool. Use a Wind crystal on two of these. Wool is not a big money maker usually, but if your inventory is getting full and you don't feel like going back yet, this is a way to save some space. If you bring water, dark crystals, and tea with you, you can field-craft your own leather. These drop infrequently in Gustaberg. You'll have better luck with these once you move to Konschtat Highlands.

Bat Wings: Bats only come out at night, here. Same as Zeruhn Mines.

Galkan Sausage (South Gustaberg): Now this takes 24 Vanadiel hours (about 1 earth hour) to make. If you kill a sheep and he drops some Giant Sheep Meat, throw it on the camp fire at the top of the small hill at K-9 and let it sit. You cannot leave South Gustaberg until it is done or it will disappear. These sausages sell for upwards of 8000gil in Bastok-Asura (only Galka can eat them, but they're used for a quest).

Beehive Chips: The larger bees drop these. They're very profitable and quick sellers.

Dog Collar: Black Wolves that come out at night on the hills drop these occasionally; it is used for a quest.

Revival Tree Root: If you win the Gustaberg Hills Lottery, you'll get one. This is not as good as winning the Zeruhn Mines Lottery, however (see below).

              Farming the Zeruhn Mines
If you only have one class, try to avoid the bats until you gain a couple of levels (which you can do in Gustaberg). Watch out for the Leeches (they are highly resistant to physical damage). There is only one aggressive monster down here--the Giant Ameoba. If you see him from far away down the tunnel, don't go in that room. If he follows you, run to the exit and yell for help.

You will want to buy a stack of picks from Boytz's Knicknacks (find it on your map); Boytz, in the back of the shop, sells these nearby. You may also want to buy the map of Zeruhn Mines from Karine in Bastok Markets for 200gil (when you get that much), but Zeruhn Mines is a very easy map to learn. You will not need it--other players are friendly and help you find your way out if you get lost. I have leveled all of my classes from 1 to 8ish here, because it is one of the most lucrative farming areas I have seen.

              Products of the Zeruhn Mines
Crystals: Wind, Water, and Earth crystals drop in the mines. Earth crystals are usually the lowest priced crystals, while wind and water are lower-middle-range crystals.

Zeruhn Soot: This product is used to raise fame in Bastok. You are poor and will need money more than fame. Get a stack of twelve and put it on the market for the going price. All of the monsters in the mines drop it and it sells quickly.

Zinc Ore: When you see a mining point, use your picks on it until it disappears. Do not steal mining points from others, it is impolite, and each time one disappears, it reappears somewhere else. Zinc is what you are looking for--it is the most expensive.

Darksteel Ore*: If you win the Zeruhn Mines Lottery, you will be lucky enough to find one of these on your character. Make sure to type /dance if you do. ^^

Iron Ore: Not quite as lucrative as Zinc Ore, but it sells ok. Unfortunately many smiths will buy this from the guild. You may wish to sell it at the guild instead of the Auction House. Synthesizing Iron Ingots in the mine will make you a great deal of money later on.

Copper Ore: You will not want to collect these. They will not be worth your time. If you bring fire crystals, you can make this into Ingots.

Tin Ore: You can use this to make bronze, but it doesn't have a good price on the auction house. Bring Fire Crystals.

Bat Wings: These are used to make Ether-type potions and sell for a very nice profit.

Flint Stones: These are used for Bastok Fame and for making glass. Keep them and sell at the auction house.

Pebbles: They may seem worthless at first, but you'll mine several at once. Throw one at a bat to see why people buy these (they're used for pulling by characters who can't use any other ranged weapons).

Rock Salt: The crabs drop this. It doesn't sell at too high a price, but you can exchange some of your crystals for Ice Crystals and go to the Alchemist's guild to make the ninja too, Tsurara.

Re: New Player Guide to Easy Gil

Good tip! I guess I'll give away some good stuff from Sandy (doesn't matter for me, barely anyone who is on the Alexander server uses these forums)

                East and West Ronfaure

Rabbit Hides: Drops from Wild Rabbits and Forest Hares, it's a fairly common drop so it shouldn't be too difficult to get a stack of these. These are some of the best drops since they usually sell for 7-8k on the Alexander server

Slice of Hare Meat- Same as rabbit hides, only these are pretty rare drops. They're not the best drops for making money but you can probably make an easy 2-3k selling these.

                Fire/Earth/Water/Dark/Lightning Crystals: You can get:

                Fire from Orcish Fodder/Mesmorizer/Grappler
                Earth from Worms/Rabbits/Sheep/Scarab
                Water from Pugs
                Dark from Funguars
                Lightning from Gobs

Fire-Water are decent drops, they can sell for around 1-4k per stack. As for Lightning and Dark, these are very rare, but a stack can sometimes sell for as much as 20k sometimes! Just remember to ALWAYS HAVE SIGNET CAST ON YOU FROM A T.K!

Sheepskin: Another easy drop that sells really fast. Drops from sheep, these babies can sell for an easy 1k

Sleepshroom: A rare drop that drops from funguars, these can sell for 8k per stack

Golblin Mask/Goblin Helm: Another rare drop, drops from gobs. These can sometimes sell for very little or a whole lot depending on the market in Sandy.

There are more drops than these but these are the best ones that a newb should focus on for making gil when he starts the game. If anyelse thinks that there are any better drops than these, feel free to add more
