Kind of funny. I never thought I had much of an addictive personality until I started playing FFXI. I never started smoking, rarely drank, never did drugs, but once I started exploing online worlds, I was like /obsess.

I've gotten much better at managing my time, I think (well, I'm working on it), but the first six months to a year or so of my MMO life was crazy.

Exactly what I said to my best friend, the closest he has ever gotton to an online MMO was Monster Hunter.

I dont even let him watch me play, and he feels the same way. Thankfully I have a lot more time free than he does!

Used to happen to me alot when I was a teenager, basically the last 3 out of 5 yrs Ive played the game. Guess it was just my way of rebelling lol, seems stupid and sad now which is why I can still get on with my parents and play the game. Ive quit for about 3 months now to get my shit sorted. Now Im going to try playing the game without a linkshell seens as I usually just sat around talking Just takes time to get your own balance between this game and real life. Its good once you do tho, I hear..

I'm slightly addicted to FFXI. Even though I've only been playing for 2-3 weeks. The one thing that stops me from being totally dependent on this game is my baby girl Sammie. Sides it's kind of hard to play when a baby is screaming at you, pulling at your keyboard and trying to throw empty bottles at you. X.x

Don't let the game run your life. You'll miss out on so many things.

thank u guys for all the advice i might accually be able to limit myself ... well kinda myself because my parents are only lettin me have from like 230 when i get home from school till around 5 when we eat and like 4 hours on weekends, so that should be better. =/ not really alot of time to seek a pt and accually play in one tho so thats my only problem =/

That's twelve and a half hours of questing/farming/crafting/HELMing etc. during the week for every eight hours of partying/doing missions on the weekend. Should be able to keep your gear halfway up-to-date.

It's a very good way to split your time. When I'm on during the week, I fish and craft and farm. I don't bother seeking a party, because I know I have to be up early in the morning and it really just bites to leave a great party early. On weekends, you have more time in one big block. I find, personally, that I can only handle an exp party for at most 3 hours in a row. After that, I start to get really bored and distracted.

Unless you find an understanding static, two and a half hours isn't really long enough to party. Four would be okay, if you got a party pretty quickly. So I'd say do something other than trying to party during the week, and save it for the weekend.

You could also pick up one of the soloing jobs (BST being the main one) and see if you like it well enough to do that instead of partying (or when you don't feel like partying). Soloing means basically doing whatever you want for as long as you want, so limited time won't be as much of an issue.

yeah my highest job is only a rdm so not really good for soloing

RDM eventually becomes one of the stronger soloists later on in the game when you have access to more of your skills and abilities. If you choose to stick with it, though, you won't have any problems finding parties when you want them.

yeah i always find a pt really fast but right now i really dont think rdm is a good soloer at only level 21

Ravd read that as "we are the strongest soloists later on, BUT fights take a long long time thanks to our crappy damage" although it seems BLU will become the strongest soloer.
