I'm having a lot of fun crafting. Crafting is very addicting. You should try.

my bonecraft is up to ten, and I almost have enough materials stockpiled to get some serious crafting done again.

Also, went to Giddeus last night and retrieved four 7 Knot Quipis. Our first Garrison is scheduled for Monday night

I've actually been farming him and the two other 'NMs' down there while farming the skeletons for bone chips...I've had more luck with the Crypt Ghost drops though

I exp for about 2 solid weeks... then I take a week and..

...craft..
...clean out the mog house to make some money
... do quests for rare items
... camp some notorious monsters

then I exp some more again

Occasionally I switch to another job and level that for a change of scenery/job description.

I quit this game for year and came back because I LIKE MINDLESS LEVELING UP. So if you don't... I've got some bad news...

My LS is all 360 users who have played through the Beta. None of us planned on subscribing, but we got hooked.

As of now, we are on our advanced jobs, just hitting 20.

Some of us have hit a wall tho, and are sick and tired of grinding. Seems all we do every night is grind grind grind. We have had a few other new players added to our LS that just started, and are at the same level with their first jobs.

I guess one option we have is to get them caught up to the mission we are on (3-1)..

If you are all from the same nationality (which it seems to be, as you're all on the same mission?), you could give Expeditionary Forces a run.

Much MUCH harder than just level-grinding.. basically, "mini-NM' fights that you have to chain over and over.

For instance, Meph Mountains EF's are level 25-30 capped... (so everyone has to be in that range). You'll fight a foursome of Gobs and Yags... repeatedly. There's no requirement to use up seals or orbs to do EF's, you get a TON of conquest points if things go your way... and it really takes a good strategy to get it to work.

UPDATE:

We finally got everyone on last night.

Two attempts at a Garrison in West Sartabarta. First attempt, I died in the second wave, and all NPCs were killed in the third. Second attempt, our Tank died in the final round, and all NPCs were killed.

I'd say we didn't to do bad seeing we were one party, and it was our first time in a Garrison.

We do have some ideas to make the second go around better. I will go BLM/WHM instead of DRK/WAR. Or MNK for some reason had a WHM sub...he will grind his WAR to 10 and use that for sub. Our RNG/WAR will go THF/War. Then we will still have our three other guys the same...WHM/BLM, WHM/SMN, SAM/WAR.

See anything we should maybe change?

Your build looks do able. Since the goal of Garrison is to keep the NPCs alive, I would have one of the WHMs concentrate on healing the NPCs, and one concentrate on healing the party.

Congratulations on having a good time. ^^ That sounds about like my first couple experiences with garrison, but with a single party and no prior experience it sounds like you did a great job. Taodyn has a very good guide for garrison in the tactics forum. Lemme dig up the link ...

Your build looks do able. Since the goal of Garrison is to keep the NPCs alive, I would have one of the WHMs concentrate on healing the NPCs, and one concentrate on healing the party.

the original plan was to have one WHM heal NPCs while the other rests. But by the third round, they were both having to heal

I think I'll concentrate on debuffing and healing the NPCs as a BLM/WHM.

I had a similar experience with my LS, we all started around the US PS2 launch. Around level 30-40 we joined up for are RSE quests. We had mostly elvaan, but if you are diversified in races there will always be an RSE you can do. Especially since there are 4 pieces per race to get. Fun times.

This would also be a good time to get your NPCs if you don't already have them. They start at level 30 and are great to solo with when farming or looking for partys!

There is a great sticky in this forum regarding the NPC. I know the start NPC is Luto, in Upper Jueno. She's a Mithra across from the church. Once you've done some talking to determine the look of your NPC you have to go to the Necropolis for a spawned skeleton fight (@ 30 bring friends there are slimes that aggro). Then you have a level capped fight in Ghelshiba Outpost (sp?). After that you have an NPC buddy.

I thought it was capped at 30. At any rate, the dragon is absurdly easy as long as you can keep hate off your npc. When I did it as rdm, the fight was half over before I finished casting buffs. My black mage friend killed it with DoTs only. Poison II, Bio II, 3 elemental DoTs.

I'm assuming this info I was linked to is right.

3) dezone, come back and talk to Luto MewRilah.
go to port sandy, talk to portaure at H-9 in cargo room B
go to ghelsba outpost, Hut Door at G-10 on first map for BC. you can see the Carrion Dragon behind the house before you go in. very easy fight, level 40 cap. i saw BLM go in naked and win easily. dragon has 2000 HP. get it to 50% on your own, and you get a short cutscene, then your NPC buddy will spawn and you have you kill the dragon before buddy dies (very easy). it does petrify, paralyse, etc so /WHM is probably best no matter what job you are.

I suppose it will be something I look forward to when I hit level 40

Good luck with the garrisons. A good tip is to kite a weaker mob away from the battle, and have a blm keep it slept and bound. When everyone is finished with the wave, healed (including npc's) and ready for the next wave, kill it. This will let you take a much-needed break between rounds.

The NPC quest skeleton and dragon is fairly weak, you can try at around 30, just bring some juice or a yag drink and you should be fine. Buff up, spikes, protect, shell, aquaveil, then engage with bio, choke, burn, shock, and nuke away.

Speaking from the perspective of somebody who absolutely hates grinding, leveling really isn't that bad when you do it with friends. Form a set or static party!

Get a tank (you mentioned that one of your friends is leveling ninja), a white mage (I noticed you listed one or three), a black mage for magic bursting, and fill the rest out with DDs. Dark knights, warriors, summoners, monks, thieves...basically, anything and everything.

Even if you can't find a full 6 people willing and/or able to gather together at one time and xp, you can surely find 2 or 3. Picking up random members adds a little spice to your set group, and can be fun.

A nifty little side effect of all of this is the fact that, as a group, your little static becomes extremely efficient and effective once everybody learns how to move as a team. You'll notice that your static gets better xp/hour than a pick-up party; you'll notice less deaths, because you'll know how each member reacts to unexpected circumstances. When you do quests, missions, and boss fights together, that cohesiveness than you'll have developed will really shine through.

Sounds great, right?

Right.

There are downsides, though...

For one, you'll never meet new people (unless you pick up randoms). You won't be able to level your jobs outside of the static, because if one member outpaces the others, the whole group suffers. That over-anxious leveler now either has to wait for the others to catch up, or s/he has to drop out of the group entirely. That makes him/her a sad panda.

Conflict is bound to pop up at some point or another. If your friendship is strong enough to overcome it, it'll be even stronger afterwards. If not...well. Sorry. Find a new white mage, I guess.

Take the bad with the good and give it a whirl. Most people that enter successful statics stay friends for years, both in and out of game.
