Re: What's the rush?
I can fairly reasonably say I havn't "rushed to 75" perse (year and a half, only now reaching 70), but hot damn if the game isn't totally different once you reach 70+... I mean, I know what HNM and Sky and Dynamis are all about, sure, but actually -doing it- is an entirely different game altogether. I won't go so far to say that "the game starts at end-game" but it really, really, really, does change (Even for jobs that are just doing the same old thing, like WHM).
Honestly, I rush now. I want 75. I want to be done with XP parties and on to Merit parties. I want XP to be what I do when I don't have a buffer any more, cause frankly, the part of the game I -love- the most is the part that opens to you after 70+.
Double Post Edited:
Though now that I think about it, I only feel the urge to "rush" if I'm in a "normal" XP party (tank, 2dd, rdm, whm, blm, chain #5, heal for MP, lather, rince, repeat). I don't really have that feeling with Bones, Manaburn, or TP Burn parties... They are face-paced and hectic enough that I don't feel bored (which is why I hurry up in normal parties).
I don't even accept invites to "normal" parties any more; there's enough demand for WHM that I can be selective and do what I most enjoy.

when I hear it.
I hate people who rush, rush, rush! When I was on Phoenix, everyone I knew were on their like 3rd/4th job to 75, and no one understood why I didn't have a job at 75. Just exping all the time is not fun at all. It gets boring and annoying. And it makes me want to /wrists^^. I mean, honestly, I play enough so I could be 75 if I really wanted (My 3 highest jobs are RDM 52 and BLM, WHM at 51 both)., but I prefer to just have fun and craft and play low-level jobs.
That reason alone was one of the main reasons I left to go to Sylph server. Another one was so that I could try my hand at roleplaying in a LS that I read about on this board. And honestly, that was the best decision I've ever made in FFXI. This last week and a half, I have had more fun in FFXI than I have since I started to play in July of 2004. The people I've met while leveling in Windy were the nicest people I've met in along time. Just random people leveling new jobs and whatnot. Of course, I've had some bad parties in the dunes (one with 3 whms... one of which was /mnk! HAHAHA) But yanno, just deal with it or leave the pt. And not to mention Ethereal my LS, These people are great! THey have really made me feel at home there even though they hardly know me. (Seriously, if you like RP and are on Sylph... you should join! They are the best)
