Re: The Third Party [A Discussion]

No, you probably shouldn't. I mean, you found most of this with just a bit of free time and google. Quite frankly, if folks want to find bots and hacks, they'll have no troulble doing it.

What really pisses me off is that SE doesn't do anything about it.

I had a good chat with Feba last night... All this stuff has capabilities that I never though possible. He's a good chap for trying to raise awareness.

You have to be of a strong will to not use these for evil.

I agree with this sentiment, if not the list formatting.

Feba, could you edit out the program names from your original post? I'm not sure how long this thread gets to live, but I think that would help. More-known or less-known doesn't really make a difference to us, it still makes it easier for someone to gain access to those hacks and we don't want that.

Well, I think its a good thing to know exactly what these programs can really do as I only knew about bots and warp/speed hacks. Kinda disturbing. I would have been scared to even install them thinking they would send you account info to someone via a trojan . I dont even think about it. There where these mining rmts in gusgen where I make my honest living. The all had names starting with "Note" in them. The would disapper on me when in front of me and I knew what they where doing. I just let it go and just tried to make them mad by using AF NIN boots and flee and usually beat them to spawns . Instead of crying about stuff, usually me and about 2-3 linkshells would all go to NM spots (we got around 70 of us at one time. We just had a field day pissing them off by claiming/killing everything in site. Just like real, there will always be thiefs . Just dont stress on it as it will ruin your game fun.

interesting, so all those ppl i see sliding on their butts in lower jeuno are/have hacks involved? i always see ppl when they are about to craft, slide on their butts for a bit. is it the remenants of the hack being installed?

If I ever decide to quit though, i'll probably abuse the hell out of them until i'm banned.
You might regret that one day. I'm not sure anyone quits really quits this game for good. Sure, you may be able to stay away for a year or two. But eventually, you'll come back. They all do...

Ellipses, if you really want to get some botters, go to Labrynth of Onzonzo. There's some fish botters there on your server (why, I haven't quite figured out yet, but they're there)

Also- I wonder if anyone will try to report me for speed hacking when (if) I get crimson slacks

Sliding on your butt for a short distance just before crafting or healing can be caused by normal lag. Used to have fun doing this on PS2.

If you set up the ingrediants in the synth menu and run while you hit the ok button, it will appear to others like you are sliding. You can also do it by running and healing. To you, you will just stop and kneel, but to others you will slide into it.

I always try to do that when I'm trying to craft those +1 lvl 14 rings in between groups just cause it probably looks funny to other people.

I'm a purist at heart. I enjoy the details and challenges that the developers try to put into the game. I guess you could say I treat the game like a glass of good wine. I like to look at it, taste it, and savour the drink, while cheaters just gulp it down.

Re: The Third Party [A Discussion]

the problem is that ffxi is heavily client side - playerstatus, targetinfo, etc. while many of the hacks are tracable (warping/speeding since they leave a "path" on the serverside), there aren't any SE employees out constantly looking for hackers. SE has done little tidbits to prevent such (such as minimum time before you can zone, fishing fatigue, etc.). maybe they should implement a "warden-like" program like blizzard? but even so, there's a work-around warden as well ^^

That's the thing. I prefer my previous state of relative blissful unawareness. I couldn't tell you the name of a single alleged botter, gilseller, bought account, scammer, etc. on Remora. I have no idea what LS did what to whom, or who had sex with whose moogle. If it's not someone I have personal experience with, I tend towards opinionlessness.

I assume at some point I've teleported some sort of hooligan or another, maybe partied with them, whatever. Overall, I'm a lot less stressed and angsty when I just deal with the immediate. Granted, I haven't gotten to a point where I'd be competing against anyone over anything serious. And maybe I'm not the Shining Upright Citizen I could be or something, but... meh.

I'm not questioning your integrity, but the mere fact that you have plenty of videos and whatnot proves that you use these programs on a regular basis. Thanks for educating the public, but you don't commit crimes to prove how bad they are.

Yup - FFXI is very heavily client side, thats why even when you arent hacking you get the lag running effects with people running slower then speeding up ahead of you.
