  • Ah, When People Buy Accounts... -.-

    Especially high-level accounts.

The other day, I was in a PT as RNG with a BRD friend of mine and a THF I've klnown for almost two and a half years. The WHM was a friend of the BRDs, and the BLM and NIN were pick-ups. As we get into Ordelle's, the NIN starts whining about not having silent oils and demands, "Someone come get me!"

We decided to go kill toramas, and the THF pulls the first one. 15 seconds later, the NIN is eating dirt and screaming at the WHM for "Letting him die."

I had three shadows, and the THF's three were gone by now and he was at half life. So, barrage, Eagle Eye Shot... Now I've got the Torama's attention. Sidewinder, utsusemi, pray for my life. Luckily, I still had a sliver with the WHM and my BRD friend healing me while the BLM made quick work of the rest of its life.

The only death was the NIN, and frankly it was a miracle. Everyone was stunned at his quick death. A 66 NIN should be able to handle a single mob, right? Well, apparently it must be the WHM's fault he died.

This nooby NIN was hitting on me (because my female avatar was "hott") ever since the party formed, and he continued sending me tells. I told him, point-blank, that if he thought it was the WHM's fault he died, he was a noob. He went off on a tangent about how the WHM didn't heal him (which she did), and I told him,

"Y'know, I'm not a NIN, but I tanked him for a whole 30 seconds all by myself! "

"Huh? How did u get hate? U don't even have war sub!"

    "LMFAO, what are you, braindead?!"

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that someone with a 66 NIN should know how to use Ichi and Ni together to keep himself alive longer that 15 seconds? And that it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that Sidewinder + Barrage + Eagle Eye Shot = MASSIVE hate?

    ---

Anyway, I DID have a point, and it's this: People shouldn't buy accounts. Because when they buy accounts and make fools of themselves (and yes, they WILL be fools), it ends up that people all over the net get to laugh at them and what they've done.

to be that stupid at lvl 66 does point to bought account, but let's not rule out PL. in either case, if he doesn't get the idea quick, then it's just plain too late to get his money back.

I've seen tons of ninjas between 50-75 SUCKING badly.

The other day we had a Lv.53~ ninja without the elemental Ni spells. That was a good day.

              sends me a tell

THF: can you tell me how to get to Beadeaux?
              Me: I'm sorry what?

              Me: ... it's in Pashhow

I guess the only thing I could think of would be that you were fighting a Toroma so he could have been silenced? Although that's a stretch because he would've been yelling for silena in that case, not cure, and his other tells do seem noobish.

EDIT: This also reminds me of PLD LS mate that used to let his brother play for him without telling anyone. Needless to say, his brother didn't know much about the job and the drop off was extreme to say the least.

I think some people would say the same about my character Sethe, I often let my girlfriend play on it and she is a total noob. Luckily she just asks my linkshell the questions most the time - lol.

                    Wouldn't that be Onzozo? :D

I feel for your whm. It's very frustrating and maddening when somebody dies and they place all the blame on you. Especially when you've been doing everything right, casting cures, removing status ailments, hasting, regening, etc. I hope you talked to her about it and told her it's not her fault instead of just letting her stew in silence.

People like the ninja should be burned at the stake by a pitchfork-wielding, torch-waving, raving-drunk rampaging mob of Galka.

Re: Ah, When People Buy Accounts... -.-

Speaking of playing others' accounts, my husband always asked me to play for him when he was sleepy but still wanted to xp on his DRK. I'm a RDM by nature, and I know a bit about what DRKs do from the parties I've been in, but the most experience I've had with Dark Knight is leveling mine to 10. I told him I'd mess it up, and he'd end up looking stupid, but he would want me to play anyway.

I would, however, play for him when he went to the bathroom or if he was eating dinner, and only after watching what he was doing for a few fights so I could do what he does. He'd also warn his party that I would be playing for him, which served two purposes: 1. It meant that if I screwed up, he wouldn't look like an idiot, and 2. I would try that much harder to do a good job so I wouldn't get a reputation as being a stupid player. (Though I could just neglect to mention my character's name.)

I don't think I've ever messed up *too* badly though, I mean, if you've gotten even to your 40's you can see how a job is at least somewhat supposed to be played, and not make retarded mistakes. Like, I wasn't using Soul Eater, Blood Weapon, and Sneak Attack all at the same time, because to do so would = certain death. I also understood hate management, how to skillchain, (and even MB, those are my RDM skills coming in ^^) and other things that could at least reasonably allow me to play another job I'm not familiar with, if only for a half an hour, and even kind of under supervision. ^^

Honestly, a lot of people let family/friends play their characters without thinking of how it might affect others that the person doesn't know what they're doing.

then again shouldn't people have the freedom to choose to do what is fun for them? i mean if they find more fun in buying a high level acct. than leveling it shouldn't they have the right to do so? i mean we can discourage it but we don't control their lives or decisions or money for that matter.. if anything you can always just remove them from the PT. (hehe i'm playing devil's advocate :D)

Well, true, if that's what they want to do, but they have no right to cry when they do get kicked, and when they don't get invites, because they don't know what the hell they're doing. But yeah, if they want a high level account, they can have fun to their heart's content with the farming or something.

My right to swing my fists around in the air ends at someone else's face. This is taking the analogy to the extreme, but what if it'd be fun for me to drive a semi without the appropriate license? Bought accounts screw things up, even if it's only temporary, for players that actualy know what they're doing. Yeah, you can kick them from the party, but you might not realize what you're dealing with until everyone's dead. It's not like the search comment is going to include "I bought this account and don't know what I'm doing."

What bugs me about bought accounts is when you know the "character" that was bought. Even more so when they were in your linkshell, left abruptly, and had gear borrowed from quite possibly the most respected member of the linkshell on them when they sold their character.
